JoAnne (joannemwct) | 2511 comments I'm almost halfway through my book for this week. The dizzyness is gone - good thing since I had to drive my son 1 1/2 hours away to take part of the CPA exam this morning, then I went to the cemetery to visit my parent's grave, did some errands and read in the car while I waited for him to finish - 3 hours later. Coming home we hit holiday traffic so after getting something to eat it took us almost an extra hour to get home.
Now on to laundry, submit a review for an ARC, then back to reading!

JoAnne (joannemwct) | 2511 comments Yes, glad I was 100% or it might not have gone so well. We live in CT and he took the test in LI.
He's passed 2 parts already, this would be the third of 4 - our fingers and toes are crossed. He's passed the other 2 first try each. This was his second time for this part and he hasn't attempted the last section yet. All 4 have to be passed within 18 mos of passing the first one or they start dropping off. So many rules of when you can take them, etc. We're hoping that he gets good news at the holidays since next time he can take any part is next April. It would be great if it was only one part left.
Thanks for the kind words Kristin.

I did. Wouldn't have been the same if Dad took him. I'm the lowkey one in the family. My hubby tends to stress him out without realizing it. I know when to ask questions and how to ask them.

Steph Ann | 509 comments I didn't get near as much reading in over the holiday weekend as I thought I would. So I'm switching my book for the week to Dead Sky Morning (Experiment in Terror, #3) by Karina Halle . I figure it won't take me long to read it at all. :)

message 259: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments It was one of my favorites SA, not that you can pick a favorite (it's like picking a favorite kid lol) but it was soooooo good.

So far I'm good to go Kristin!

Steph Ann | 509 comments There is some seriously messed up stuff happening on this island in Dead Sky Morning (Experiment in Terror, #3) by Karina Halle ! Over my lunch hour, I read the part where (view spoiler). If that were happening to me, that would be the point where I officially went insane. *shivers*

message 270: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments Can't believe we only have 1 more day until our roll! Woo-Hoo! Hope everyone is having a great week!

Thought I would check in to see how Steph Ann & Suzanne are doing with their Spot-28 books?

I'm in meetings pretty much all day tomorrow & then flying home. (YAY!!!) I'll check when I get home around 9PM-ish to link your reviews if you're able to get them posted by then.

message 271: by JoAnne (new)

JoAnne (joannemwct) | 2511 comments Kristin if you can roll tomorrow night pending other two reviews are posted, go for it. I got the dizziness back again - going to bed now - couldn't focus on reading for two days now - so I don't think I better plan on being up to roll.
Safe travels.

Grave Secret (Harper Connelly, #4) by Charlaine Harris

Read:
Grave Secret by Charlaine Harris
Date: 12/2/2014
Rating: *****
Review: I feel like this is Charlaine's red-headed step child series, but I really love it! I love the premise of the series and the characters. They're so complex to me, but all of her characters in all her books are really well thought out. This book was awesome, I don't want to reveal anymore than that but I loved it!

Thanks, I do feel better today. Going to work. May have nipped it in the bud before it became full blown by taking my meds for it. Went to bed by 11pm which is not me and haven't really read in 2 days.
Thanks for rolling tonight if the last review is in.
Fingers crossed for another good one.

Review

Wow, this was good. I knew when reading the description that it would up the creepiness factor with them being on an island that had housed a leper colony, but my imagination was nothing compared to what actually happened! It seemed like there was always something happening from the minute Dex and Perry arrived at the island. I didn't want to put the book down. Besides the creepiness, there was also some development in Dex and Perry's relationship, and I'm very curious to see where they go from here!

message 279: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments We're all good! My last team was really down to the wire so usually I don't care. It's just that I'm in some all day meetings this week and then doing a flight back tonight so I wasn't sure how much time I'd be able to get onto my lap top.

I'm been able to sneak on twice though today - SCORE!

In The Afterlight (The Darkest Minds, #3) by Alexandra Bracken
Series Book #3: In The Afterlight
Author: Alexandra Bracken
Completed: 12/07/2014
Rating: ★★★★★
Review:
This was the third book of The Darkest Minds trilogy. The first two books were fabulous and I was anxious to see how things would wrap up in the grand finale of this YA dystopian series about kids with various unique powers -- however, at the same time, I was concerned my expectations were too impossibly high. OMG! Let me tell you, this book was amazing . Once it got going, the story just kept picking up speed and it never let you go. There were enough twists and turns that I needed to keep reading to see what was going to happen next. By the third book, I was so invested in many of the people in the story - not only Ruby and Liam, but also Cole, Vi, Chubbs, Zu, just to name a few. This book made me feel so much! There were tears, chuckles and edge of your seat suspense - nothing could have made this a better ending to a wonderful series. Alexandra Bracken totally rocked this!

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments LOL! Why is it so hard to write a gripping first book in a series...? :)

message 297: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Lol, the MC is rockabilly and it felt overdone. Later in the book it's explained why she is and then after that I was all oh ok that's cool.

message 298: by Jenne (new)

message 299: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 4537 comments It's good to have the heads up to know it gets better. I probably wouldn't have read book 2 of EIT if someone didn't tell me it picks up.. so now I'm all for giving a series 2-3 books chances!

message 300: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments There's a lot I would of missed out on giving up after book 1. Sometimes you know it's not worth it though...
