High Five: reporting ONLY
Elsbeth, my understanding would be that you move on from 3, because that's where you've been sent. But I don't know now, because Tejas Janet landed on 36, and was sent to another spot, but was told she still has to move on from 36 for her next round. So probably best to check with jmom.
I also love this idea of a team read-a-thon. Do people read all day long for these Topplers? Is it hard to maintain focus?
Gail wrote: "Elsbeth, my understanding would be that you move on from 3, because that's where you've been sent. Jmom just posted that I go on from #3.
I decided to roll for my 4th book (since I read 4 last time, with a little time to spare, so I'll take the risk).I was on space 3 and rolled 17, which lands me on 20 - book of your choice!
I've no idea yet as to what I'll read. So:
I'll think I'll donate it to the pool...
So if someone ends up with something they don't like, they are welcome to this! And I'll keep an eye out to what other tasks there are in the pool.
Gail wrote: "Elsbeth, my understanding would be that you move on from 3, because that's where you've been sent. When anybody other than "the dice" (random number generator) determines what your task will be, then you don't physically move to that spot. Instead you stay on the spot where you had landed from rolling the dice.
So when I got assigned the task associated with 9, I stayed at 36 because that was where I'd landed from my roll. This was consistent with everyone else staying on the numbers they rolled tho we all swapped first tasks.
Does this help? Hope so.
Tejas Janet, the ruling was different for Elsbeth though - jmom told her that she moves on from the spot she was sent to, rather than the spot she originally landed on. That is how it's been working for everyone except you - I'm not sure why jmom told you differently.
Gail wrote: "Tejas Janet, the ruling was different for Elsbeth though - jmom told her that she moves on from the spot she was sent to, rather than the spot she originally landed on. Hmm, maybe in my case it happened in the first round, and Jmom had everyone stay on their original spot so it wouldn't get so confusing since we all had to swap - and we may swap more if we get new members - ??
Hey guys, for my first task i will be reading this book
and i rolled the dice again, got 28 that puts me on 3 which is Christmas-opoly nutty fruitcake, for this I will read
I got 24 for my 7th roll, sending me to space 32 = Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) - Read a sports related book. This can be with an athlete, sportswriter or agent as a significant character, taking place at a sports venue, or a sport background (like a murder at a racetrack or a riot after a soccer match). I think I have a couple sports related romances on my Kindle,so I will keep this one.
I've decided to read See Jane Score by Rachel Gibson for the sports task. It's the 2nd in her Chinooks Hockey Team series. The male main character is the goalie.
I rolled a 26 for my 8th roll, sending me to 18 = Kew Palace (Monarchopoly) – Read a historical fiction book that features an actual historical person. I'm sure I can find a book for this since I read a lot of historical fiction.I got 15 for my 9th roll, sending me to 33 which is a Do you feel lucky? space. I'll see what I get.

Gosh, at this rate I'm going to have to add extra rounds to the spreadsheet! :) (am on my phone on the bus at the moment so can't update the spreadsheet yet, but will do it this evening when I'm home.)
I decided to roll the dice for the third round, just in case I would fall on a "Do you feel Lucky square", and I got 1 on the dice! LOLSince I was on square 5, I go as far as square 6, Oriental Avenue – My mind keeps thinking of Murder on the Orient Express. Read a murder mystery or true life murder book.
Since it's the genre I read the most, I am taking the task and will confirm what I will be reading tonight :)
Elsbeth wrote: "Wow, how many books will you read? Last time I managed 4 - and was very proud of it! ;)..."I'm pretty sure Rebecca mentioned a minimum of 10 books and maybe more?
Always good to have a couple crazy big readers in a team! :)

I managed 6 once and was really really proud of myself...
I don't think I've ever completed more than 5 - and that's dedicating many hours every day to reading for the entire week. Can't always do that unfortunately.

Yes, of course! It just makes me jealous! ;)
Hey just rolled for my third round. I rolled a 23 taking me to27 = Lane Stadium (Virginia Techopoly) Read a book with a college student or professor as a main character. This includes graduate school.
Interesting I will go hunting
Do you remember who was the biggest reader last time?? I have this vague idea that someone read 15 or 16 books in a week but I can't remember who that was...
I found it, it was Connie...she read 16 books for the last toppler. I'd love to try and beat that but I don't think I can!
I guess it depends what sort of books you read. Children's novels can be a very quick read. Although still, 16 is a lot for one week! It would be quite fun to aim for a big number like that! How many hours a day are you all planning to read?
I'm not sure. We also celebrate my fathers birthday in that week and the children have autumn-holidays (so they expect to do some nice stuff...).I don't even know how many hours a day I normally read ;)...
My usual plan is to read all day on the weekends and then a few hours on the weekdays. I think I should average 5.5 a day?? Though most of those hours are going to be in 4 out of the 7 toppler days.
As long as I'm not reading only one book it's fine. Multiple books in an 8 hour time frame is okay. 1 book for such a time period becomes tedious, no matter how good.
Feeling rather lame with only 2 books committed so far, I made a 3rd roll and was so excited to get a 12, putting me on space 18, Kew Gardens, which is to read historical fiction. Easy sauce! I immediately picked up a book in the stack right next to me, The White Queen, then discovered I've never added it to my TBR list. So I scanned my list for not-too-long and available-at-the-library and chose Lady Macbeth.

For my lucky square I got Read a book with an animal on the cover, so I'll have to go through all my books again.

I don't have a literal list for my TBRs. All the books I own are TBR by default (I tend to give them away once I've read them unless I want to read them again) and I also have a TBR list in my head of books I don't own but want to read.
Dawn wrote: "As long as I'm not reading only one book it's fine. Multiple books in an 8 hour time frame is okay. 1 book for such a time period becomes tedious, no matter how good."Ah, that makes sense. I was wondering whether to do it that way too.
I think I will read Hex on the Ex for my third round murder mystery task. That is, if I don't end up reading it sooner and having to choose another one LOL
For task 6, fall setting, I have decided to read Forget Me Not byFern Michaels. For task 8, historical fiction with a real character I will read Frederica by Georgette Heyer. Lady Jersey is at a ball with the main characters. http://www.regencyhistory.net/2011/11...
For task 9, my lucky space-animal on cover-I will read
by Patricia Rosemoor. It has horses on the cover.
Pragya wrote: It doesn't need to be added to your TBR, does it say it has to be in your TBR from before?I was making that assumption, this being my first toppler. No? Then I may pick some books from my physical shelves, which also need to be toppled, badly.
When you all say TBR, do you mean a list you've made on Goodreads? I haven't actually made such a list - I just thought TBR meant the books I own and haven't read yet. So, Sharon, I'm using my physical shelves - I hope it's not against the rules, else I won't be able to do the Toppler!
You may read any book, from any source, as long as it's over 175 pages long. There is no rule that the books must be on your TBR shelf, unless there is a task that specifically requires that (and I don't think there is).
Nothing in the rules regarding TBR shelves, or where you acquire the books.....A few rules:
1. Books must be started and finished in this time period to qualify.
2. You may read any format - paperback, hardcover, ebook, or audiobook. For the last two use the page numbers on the first edition that comes up on the GR page.
3. Each book must be at least 175 pages.
4. Toppler books can count toward the monthly challenge, the group theme read, and the yearly challenge if they qualify.
5. You may plan ahead and chose books for the challenge, but you are not restricted to those books. You may swap them out at will.

whew that is good since I mostly own fantasy. I wouldn't be able to play
I got 11 for my 10th roll, which sends me to space 4 = Walker Horde (Walking Dead) – Read a horror book. One that scares the crap out of you (or at least really creeps you out). Vampires, werewolves and witches not included here. This is for fictional horrors, not true life ones. Would anyone want this task? I don't read horror at all.
Gail, Elsbeth and I are trading her Round 4 task (choose any book) for my Round 8 task (tree on the cover) to be found in the Round 7 section. I'll be reading Jane and Prudence by Barbara Pym for Round 8 now!!
Gail, Tejas Janet and I have switched a task my third roll 27 for her 4th roll #29 it is a YA book I am going to search my shelves now

Gail, my round 4 book was in the pool, so you can delete it there! Still gophering for a nice book...

But J-mom has said it qualifies so if you want to trade for any of these:
5 - Rainbow cover
8 - Set in Fall
37 - Set in Snowy Area
6 - Murder Mystery
16 - letter, diary foramt
I'll take the horror book off your hands.
