Watching a youtube about the bi-generation and it got me thinking.
I think RTD is likely to just hand wave away Tennant #2, but it would be nice if at least fandom could play with it or come up with our own solutions.

Can't sit around waiting for BF to fix everything.

Only time will tell. But I’m currently waiting for the announcement of the Doctor Who feature film starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate (please, please, please).

After being in the same home (duplex apartment) for 37 years, I was recently told, by the new owners, that I had to leave. They wanted to renovate and increase the rent, undoubtedly doubling it. It was all quite traumatizing and infuriating. On top of that there was the election results. Again, traumatizing and infuriating. Add to that, Goodreads is no longer informing me when these threads get comments and replies.
Sigh. Change.

With the Doctor chasing him through British TV to ultimately end up on the set of EastEnders in 1993! But the Master, not wanting to tangle with the Rani, has fled so the Doctor has to deal with Rani instead.

I'm not the biggest fan of the Son of Krypton, but that trailer is really, really good. I think the only place I've ever encountered (view spoiler) was in the cartoons I watched as a kid.

Most of them are pretty dire, and none of them have the sense of humor like the Reeves films.

Plus: this is one of the best lit trailers from DC I've seen in a long time.

Travis (travishiltz) | 2397 comments The great rewatch resumes:

Two Doctors: A great bunch of parts that come together to form a not bad whole.
Great cast really work to boost a clunky script.

Shame this is the only time Troughton's Doctor met the Sontarions.

Lots of little bits that should have come back in other stories.
The Androgums should come back.

It's a lot of fun.
It's also very clunky and uneven.

All the bits with the two Tardis crews interacting are great.
Wish we'd seen more of Peri and the second Doctor together.

Travis (travishiltz) | 2397 comments Timelash: Lord, this is a mess.
Entertaining, but a mess.

The good parts are very good: Colin is firing on all cylinders, good looking design, hints of past stories that never happened and young Herbert is one of the best 'why wasn't he made a companion?' characters of the classic era.

The bad: the villains plan makes so little sense, Paul Darrow just turns the dial to 11 and leaves it there and Peri is wasted.

How is it there's only one companion and so many writers have no idea what to do with her?

Has BF ever done a prequel to Timelash with the third Doctor?
Or a story featuring Herbert with the 6th Doctor on the trip back to Earth?

message 2234: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 2397 comments Revelation of the Daleks: Eric Seward...what are we gonna do with this guy?
Lots of good ideas, but his efforts to make Who gritty and darker were crazy hit or miss, his sense of humor ranges from quirky to 'stop thinking you're Douglas Adams' and he loves a high bodycount.

Peri is better written in this one, but half the supporting cast are just kind of there.
Do wish we'd see more of the Knights of Oberon.

Probably a better story than Resurrection, but never going to rank high on my Dalek stories list.

Travis (travishiltz) | 2397 comments Blake's 7: halfway through season 3.

I get why this is a big deal, but I don't love it.
Don't hate it enough to drop it, but never in a rush to see the next episode.
Every writer loves Avon and Servilan, and I get that, but it means they ignore the rest of the cast.
And we only have 6 members in Blake's 7 (and have stopped even caring where Blake is)

Yeah, the later seasons were weird. Also, I think I heard the actor who played Blake got into a contract dispute with the producers.

Wikipedia says:

"Thomas was disappointed not to be allowed to direct a few episodes, and had been offered a role with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and sought an exit of the show. He would return twice – once in the series 3 finale, Terminal, and once more in the final episode of the series, Blake, when his character was killed off."

I had heard they weren't sure they were coming back after season 2.
Which explains why they lost half the cast.
It's just badly handled.

It's interesting to rewatch Doctor Who and be able to see spots where BF could fit a story or a loose end they could play with.

I've got a list if Mr. Briggs ever needs some help.

Travis (travishiltz) | 2397 comments Apparently, there's a BF story where Davros works with the Cybermen, and that idea is so brilliant I'm amazed nobody has used it before.

You could do a whole box set based around Davros fed up with the Daleks and partnering with other Who races.

I mean, if you're the Doctor, you kind of need to have it, but it shows up in the promo art for the BF series and I was like 'waitaminute...?'

I'll take a fan theory, but I wish somebody would explain her continuity slightly more than the TV show did.

Rick | 2260 comments I’m listening to her first box set from Big Finish right now. Doctor Who: Most Wanted.
There’s a new proposition that is alluded to in the first story and then mentioned in the behind-the-scenes interviews, that the Fugitive Doctor actually falls in between the 2nd and 3rd Doctors, after the years that the 2nd Doctor spent working as an Agent for the Time Lords. But it is also alluded that she’s a pre-Hartnell Doctor. So at least in the first two episodes here is nothing confirmed. And I LOVE the mystery.

The trailer sounded really good.
Love the character, hoping BF and the show do right by her.
Heck, I'd settle for another comic mini-series.

Unless RTD decides to bring her back (and how cool would she and Ncuti be in a team up!) I doubt we'll ever get much in the way of answers and I can accept that,
But, I do hope they have a structure or set of rules in mind, cause if the writers don't know what's going on then this thing falls apart and that'd be a shame.

I finished the box set, looking forward to the second one, it’s quite good. In the behind-the-scenes extras they reveal that the people involved spoke with Chibnall about the Fugitive Doctor and what he had developed for the character. So they are working from those concepts and ideas.

Big Finish has had some hits and misses with other shows they’ve continued or rebooted, same with their original productions, but they certainly do right by Doctor Who.
