Austin, there are so many new horror writers that let me make u a list, and then we can read it together for Halloween. I really can't like Stephen King, so..."
I have seen The Omen - great movie , but I don't remember too many details because it was so long back . The book is 225 pages long - very reasonable . I wouldn't at all mind joining in .
As far as contemporary authors are concerned , I do like to give them a try if the blurbs are interesting and the reviews are more or less good . But I would like to avoid tomes by a completely unknown author .

Looking forward to reading your list , Leena . 🤯

We can read Tess sometime later this year .

Well , I will check the blurb tomorrow but I am rather nervous of tomes ( even by classic authors ) .

An interesting Indian noir. Pretty good, but would have been great had the author stuck to the crime investigation elements in the plot rather than trying too much.

Higashino? How's it?
I have read his Devotion of suspect x, Salvation of Saint and Malice. His "Newcomer" is in my tbr.

😱

I've to start Vassem Khan's Midnight at Malabar House. This is going to be with a bushel of salt as I hated his previous series of Baby Ganesh. This is typical Indian writing for the phirang crowd

No.not in any such group. I'm currently nursing a slump, hence MIA. :(

I would like to join you guys.

Loved Silent Parade. Also, read Newcomer which was good. Have my eyes set on other books in Detective Kaga Series.

Nope.

How did you like it? I loved it!

Started reading Raven Boys, read first two books and abandoned it by the third book.
Read Yellowface. My first book by the author and she seems to a great following here because of hit Poppy War books. Back to Yellowface, it was a page turner with a lot of social media drama (sadly, the reality of current times), and an opportunistic protagonist. Enjoyable read but mostly it reminded me of A Ladder to the Sky by John Boyne which was a great read.
Now reading Tress of the Emerald Sea.

Giovanni's Room was too difficult for me to get into. Had to DNF it.

Im really surprised . Yes, I had to take breaks in between to help me tide over the intensity of his writing. I still can not believe the quantity and quality of plot hes packed in the 180 oages. Novellas are tricky busines and both James Baldwin and Dostoevsky (White Nights) have proven to be masters.
Finished reading "Desperately Seeking Shah Rukh Khan", and loved it. Non-fiction book and author tells us how SRK bind women in India together.

Oooooh. This sounds interesting. :D

I meant Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier only. I have heard great things about the book.
We can have a buddy read; it would be great. July or August works fine for me."
Great you are joining too Anulekha ! I will just check with Austin and confirm Rebecca for say mid July .
