Try novels by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie - one of the best contemporary authors. A good option to begin your journey of Black author works. :)

I loved her Purple Hibiscus.

I loved her Purple Hibiscus.

That was my first read by her, and I loved it too. Have read many more since then, including her nonfiction and essays. Only 'Americanah' is yet to be read. :)

Ah okay. I thought you were speaking in general. Apologies.

Finished Embers, and absolutely loved it! some very thought provoking quotes about human nature. Highly recommended if monologues does not bore you.

You mean like long monolgues in The Name of the Rose?

That's a very good book. One of the best mystery thrillers I have read.

Thanks for the reply. Now the notifications are misreporting group activity.

I couldn't help but DNF it. Wish I liked the book, as it has stayed on my virtual shelf for a long time.

Sorry to hear this Luffy. Magic and England drew me in... let's see if I am able to stay long enough in this world...

Wish you good luck. The author is talented that is for sure.

1. The Devil.and the Dark Water - boy, this is so slow. But, it's very interesting - its the United East India Company, where they are transporting the goods to.
But, please, can someone just get murdered now??
2. Home Before Dark by Roley Sager.
3. The Alienist
4. One of the Girls by Lucy Clarke
5. Gone with the Wind

its fantastic! are you reading it for Books2Movie challenge?"
Unfortunately I didn't like it. The mystery was very interesting but the other stuff was too disturbing for me. Didn't complete

You are blocked again :) keeps happening every few days

This list is making my head spin!
I started one hundred year of solitude. Random read, let's see how it goes

Actually this is happening from day 1 for me. I have to manually turn on notification whenever I comment somewhere. Otherwise I never get notified when someone replies

All mega readers in this group :) Scared to look at peoples reading progress when I see mine :D

The book seems to have problems in engaging the minds of some readers, me included. DNFed it.

Arent could say that Sammy was clever, unique, or special, or he could say that he was vain, greedy, lazy, and, sometimes, cruel. Every word would be true, but none would be adequate.
Just one of the many such descriptions.

Thank you, Leena! I wanted to make it public domain and upload the e-book (there is no print version) on Project Gutenberg. But I decided to sell it on Amazon and Smashwords.
