The Wanderer I don't know what to read next. Maybe some non fiction

message 1252: by Austin (new)

Austin George | 4073 comments Me neither, I haven't read a single book by a black author as far as I can remember. It's got to do with the fact that most of the black authors write books in genres that don't interest me much.

Rosh ~catching up slowly~ (roshreviews) Leena wrote: "my regret, I've not read a single book by a Black Author."

Try novels by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie - one of the best contemporary authors. A good option to begin your journey of Black author works. :)

message 1254: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) My favourite Black author is Chinua Achebe. I liked all the books in his African Trilogy. Things Fall Apart is especially good. My second favourite Black Author is Frantz Fanon, a true intellectual that rivals the best that any race has to offer. I am aware of only his non fiction books.

I loved her Purple Hibiscus.

That was my first read by her, and I loved it too. Have read many more since then, including her nonfiction and essays. Only 'Americanah' is yet to be read. :)

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments this month is going to.be a marathon read for me-lots of crime and thrill.
1. The Devil.and the Dark Water - boy, this is so slow. But, it's very interesting - its the United East India Company, where they are transporting the goods to.
But, please, can someone just get murdered now??
2. Home Before Dark by Roley Sager.
3. The Alienist
4. One of the Girls by Lucy Clarke
5. Gone with the Wind

Unfortunately I didn't like it. The mystery was very interesting but the other stuff was too disturbing for me. Didn't complete

This list is making my head spin!

Actually this is happening from day 1 for me. I have to manually turn on notification whenever I comment somewhere. Otherwise I never get notified when someone replies

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments I did have issues with GR notifications, but it seems to have sorted out.

The book seems to have problems in engaging the minds of some readers, me included. DNFed it.

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments I have to admit, though, that Stuart Thornton 's writing is amazing. His ironical sentences are truly something.

Arent could say that Sammy was clever, unique, or special, or he could say that he was vain, greedy, lazy, and, sometimes, cruel. Every word would be true, but none would be adequate.
Just one of the many such descriptions.

Thank you, Leena! I wanted to make it public domain and upload the e-book (there is no print version) on Project Gutenberg. But I decided to sell it on Amazon and Smashwords.
