Carolyn | 9836 comments Just finished Elevator Pitch by Linwood Barclay Elevator Pitch by Linwood Barclay.

The book description claims the novel will do for elevators as Jaws did for sharks and Psycho did for showers and it will certainly make me think about living more than a few floors off the ground.

Carolyn | 9836 comments My review for The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

I listened to the audiobook which I suspect was enhanced by the high quality narration. This was only my second audiobook so I'm still sussing out how to find good ones.

I don't think we have a separate thread for posting favourite audiobooks & narrators?

Rita Chapman | 151 comments I really enjoyed The Tea Planter's Wife by Dinah Jefferies
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... The Tea Planter's Wife by Dinah Jefferies

"5*. An emotional roller-coaster as a young Englishwoman moves to Colombo as the wife of a tea plantation owner. The descriptions of the Sri Lankan countryside will send you rushing to book a holiday in this amazing country! Fall in love with the characters as you are pulled into this story of secrets and intrigue on both sides. The heart-breaking decisions Gwen must make will keep you turning the pages. Highly recommended."

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments Colson Whitehead’s new historical fiction is only barely fiction, and it is infuriating! Even the worst of The Nickel Boys deserved better than the slavery that passed for a reform school.

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments Finally got around to reviewing my last read for the July challenge - that seems so long ago now that I will post the review here instead.
Six Minutes by Petronella McGovern by Petronella McGovern was an ARC.
Five star book! I really, really enjoyed the slow burn of the mystery-thriller-suspense, well whatever it exactly was, I liked it.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments Mark Haddon‘s latest novel, The Porpoise, is quite a departure from his earlier works, and may well polarise readers. He’s no doubt best known for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and this one is quite different but I loved it!

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments I was glad that my library had a copy of How Not to Die Alone by British author, Richard Roper. It has been compared to Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine and I certainly enjoyed it just as much. Poignant and funny, an outstanding debut.
