(It was wonderful though, so I def won't object to it faring well).

Anthony Ryan's Blood Song
and
Max Brook's World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War
I really liked both of these (don't judge Z by the movie, the book is far more interesting). Most of the others that I've read before, I'm not ready to read again. And like a lot of people, I voted for books I already own.

I voted for Master and Margarita, since I wanted to read this classic for ages. Since it certainly won't get enough votes, what about a BR next year? :D

I took a different tack this time and only voted for the books I own and haven’t read. There are many others on the list that I’ve read before and wouldn’t be averse to rereading, or at least throwing my hat in for if it is a close vote.

That's pretty much how I did it as well, at least for my first pass.

@Gabi: Yes, let's!

I'm definitely up for Leviathan Wakes, plus the classics I Am Legend, Foundation and Starship Troopers. There's a few more, but those I'm most interested in right now.
I'm sure I'll go back and add other votes as things progress. :)

Me too! Both of those are supposed to be great, the first page of each seemed awesome, I own them - but haven't read them yet. They definitely got my vote!

I would have missed this were it not for the newsletter, and even then I had trouble finding this link as there's been so much chatter already. Maybe a new thread each year?

The thread title says "Voting is OPEN", and everything you need to know is in the very first post :) And we will have a new 2020 thread once it's actually 2020.

I mean, yes it's only 2019 now, but the first round of Voting for 2020 has started already and Ends this month, *before* 2020. So, it doesn't work with my intuition. I don't know if I speak for others or not; maybe I'm just weird.

@Anna sorry, when I open that spreadsheet in the google sheets app, it just displays the results in alphabetical order by title, and I can’t seem to click on anything to alter it.

Anyone?

There are unusually many on top now, which I've already read.

Unfortunately, @Anthony, I have a different book by RA Salvatore on my TBR shelf, so I can’t, in good conscience, vote for the Drizz’t one. I might, however be induced to read Foreigner, because I’ve been intrigued by that one for a long time.

*coughing*
*taking the mic*
*sweating*
So.
It would be super duper awesome if these books got selected:
Foundation (since there will be a TV series so I want to reread it)
All the Birds in the Sky (since I want to read something from Charlie Jane and tell her if I like it)
Little, Big (since Gabi and I want to read it and would be great to have others too!)
The Quantum Thief (since I am curious on how difficult it is) 😆
Help me reduce my TBR. Who knows, some of those books might be in yours too. Let's VOTE and CONQUER!

Also voted for a couple j read this year because I’d love to discuss. Would love to get Wool up there since I recently read and enjoyed Half Way Home by Howey.

The Goodreads is incorrect as they say that it's
The Goblin Emperor
(The Goblin Emperor #1) <---------------------
with a sequel here: The Witness for the Dead
The Witness for the Dead
(The Goblin Emperor #2) <---------------------
here's an interview where she discusses the next book

Speaking for myself, when I say standalone, I’m not being precisely literal. If a book stands alone story-wise but has or is expected to have other companion books that leverage the same world-building, I still treat it like a series. I prefer to reach such books together so I can appreciate subtle connections, however minor, and maintain my immersion in the environment.
Silvana, Little, Big was one of my votes. I’ve already read All the Birds in the Sky and The Quantum Thief, so I can’t help with those.
The results spreadsheet is great Anna, thank you! It’s fun also to be able to see the entire list, including the four lonely books at the bottom that not a single person has voted for.
I’d like to see World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War win. I think it's gotten close a couple times but never quite makes it. It’s another nice standalone, and who doesn’t want to start the year off with a zombie book? It helps you appreciate how awesome the year is already going by comparison! :)

World War Z
Snow Crash

I'm hoping to read some Brandon Sanderson and it looks like Elantris currently has the best chances, so... any takers?

Elantris has my vote.

Correct, CBR, City of Bones is a standalone. It was originally supposed to be the first book of a series, I believe, but that didn't work out. Not to worry, it's a complete story by itself.
The Killing Moon is quite cool on its own merits and also interesting because it was actually the novel that Jemisin submitted first, but the publishing world wasn't receptive to it at the time. So she was a boss and wrote a whole other trilogy (starting with The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms) and after that the publisher put out this one. It's the first of a duology but it can easily be read by itself.
I'll continue to stump for Snow Crash and add The Golem and the Jinni!
