Great news. You have almost 2 months to learn Cyrillic!

Russia's, like, right there, maybe you can just go sit in St Petersburg and ask someone to translate for you? Every day for a month?

(I think we could have people in this very house who'd be able to translate. And few individuals manning the register at local grocery store for sure).

(And it's also on Storytel... in Russian -_- )"
The Kindle book of that name is by Richard Layman, not Zelazny unless Layman is an alias

This? It's Zelazny.

LOL! Well...I *guess* if you wanted to take the easy way, and not be on a train for 10 hours a day...
Chessie, I think the point is that apparently Russian publishers got rights to the digital print version, while the rest of us have to scramble!

Oh, the trains would be the easy part - straight route from here to there, and they like to advertise how quick and effortless it is too... but one doesn't get anywhere in that direction without first going through couple weeks long visa application period.
I think I will try to survive with the kindle edition somehow <:D ...it'll be more affordable.

Rats. I was little bit afraid it might be so (here it says $6.19 on sale). Good luck with the traditional way.

You might need to check your local one and this is the one I go... I just checked the website. “If you have proof of residential address but don’t yet have a Canadian-issued identification card, you may get a library card by showing a Canadian visa/work permit that has been issued for 6 months or more.”

yep, it says :This title is not currently available for purchase" for this US resident too

My library has one copy of Lonesome October. I have no idea if it might be in high demand around October, but the downside of a library book is that I wouldn’t be comfortable hoarding it for an entire month to read a chapter a day. The prices of even the used paperbacks on Amazon are ridiculous when you include their shipping charges. Used prices on Abe Books seem more reasonable, although I’ve never personally bought anything from them because I don’t normally buy physical books.
Assuming it still wins, I might just try the Abe Books route. Then I won’t have to worry about whether I’m hoarding a library book that somebody else wants, and I can donate the book to the library or somewhere after I’m done with it.

As far as confusing the books, I'm referring to when you set up the threads for the re-read. I'm stupid, I admit, and often simply type the name into Amazon.

Hmm, I never thought of that. I always click through from the book page or search by ASIN/ISBN. But even if you don't, if you're on a browser, you can see the author if you hover over the link. And the discussion threads have the book linked, so you can see the default cover. Of course those sometimes magically vanish no matter how many times we add them.

I hope you're all able to get it somehow.

Yes! Let's use our SFFBC sale powers for good!

you'd be able to purchase it if you stayed on amazon.com with your Country Setting set to the UK. The Country Setting acts as a filter only showing you books available for you to purchase and the price for your region. I stayed with amazon.com when I lived in France and it worked that way. I'd often purchase kindle books as gifts for friends in the US when the price was cheaper for French residents especially if the book was less than $1 for me and $9.99 for them

I'm not at all savvy how Amazon operates, but am wondering, if you have States based connection provider, would the site be determining your location by that ISP - even when you're across the border? You can check your ISP location here: https://www.whoismyisp.org/

I remember one poor guy who got that message every time he tried to buy a book in Singapore even though he lived in Hong Kong as was there 9 months out of the year. At the time, Singapore was a kindle-free country.
Thank you everyone for trying to solve this conundrum. I think we have a lot of leads here and should Lonesome October get selected, we can do more brainstorming then! How is the list looking? Anyone very happy/unhappy with the list as it was last posted? Do we need another member drive?
I would still like to see Swords and Deviltry make the cut. I will personally not read Night in the Lonesome October because is is not available on US Kindle. Looking forward to the Blade Itself as I already own it.

They're good if a bit dated as far as the attitudes towards women goes. I still enjoyed them and I'm female.
MY hope was for City of Bones as I've yet to read it and I own it (iI bought it back when it was $2.99)

Thanks, it helps to know in advance, so I can try to remember when I'm scheduling!
