2019 Bookshelf Rereads
I have a strong desire to read Forever War and to watch people read Her Majesty’s Dragon. They are both shorter so people to vote for them.
Let's not forget about this month's rereads starting on the 15th!The Lathe of Heaven >> First impressions | Final thoughts
City of Stairs >> First impressions | Final thoughts

Yah, I voted for 3 of the top six (and not the short one) and I'm kind of horrified they are all up at the top!

LOL! My read all the books strategy is to start with all the 800 - 1000 pagers and go slowly down from there, so that it gets easier the farther I go. More rewarding in the long run. ;)
My votes are in and because my books rarely win, I employed a new strategy and voted for just a few a the top. We'll see how that goes...
Cool, Dune is up at the top. I can't remember if I voted for it, but since I just picked up a used copy for $2 I'd be happy to give it a try, too. :)
Top 6 will become our rereads for July-September. Voting closes on May 25th.VOTE HERE

It's said that the quality of the first book of Dune is far from the others' of the series, isn't it? I'm new here, by the way. Hello fromBilbao 😁
My library has all of the Discworld books as e-books except for one, and I've been planning to read them for a while, so I'm really glad Color of Magic is staying up there. It's also short, so I won't feel like I can't catch up if I'm a bit late.
Hi Asier!!
I have heard folks say that the first Dune is the best. Can't confirm though! Hope you'll read with us ^^
Bobby, I think you'll like Color of Magic!

Hi there! Well I've only ever read the first book. The other books follow different generations and I was already invested in the characters of the first one and didn't feel like moving on to other characters :D However I was 15 when I read it, 23 years ago, so I might have a different opinion if I read it today ^_^
I read Dune back in the early '90s and I'm afraid that visions of Kyle McLachlan and Sting overwrote anything pertinent that might have been gleaned from that book. :D Even if it doesn't win, I'll take an effort reread it sometime this year.
Dune has moved up to 20 votes since Anna’s recent update. That makes me happy because its four-way tie status was making me nervous. And apparently somebody took another look at the Kushiel's Dart page count and unvoted, because now it’s down from 16 to 15.For those of you who want to look at the big picture of the series you’re hoping to embark on… the entire 9-book Kushiel’s Universe is around 6500 pages. I really do want to read this, but there’s no way I can fit it in before 2020. (Everybody schedules their reading out at least a year, right?) If you all start it this year and continue the series, maybe I can catch up with some people next year.
Oh, and that itty bitty Discworld book? If you end up reading the whole series, that will cost you 16,000+ pages depending on how much of the random extra stuff you read, like the illustrated novels, the children’s books, and the science books. I’ve read this series and I always have fun reading what people think of it when they try it.
World War Z on the other hand is a nice, innocent little standalone of a mere 342 pages lingering below the cutoff that I might possibly have happened to vote for. I assume the Z stands for Zombies, and I’m not a huge fan of zombie books, so moral support would surely be helpful. However, I know nothing about the book and I refuse to go read the synopsis and spoil the fun of guessing, so I’m holding out hope that the book is about Zebras trying to take over the world, or maybe it’s the Zookeeper. It could also be a book about a hilariously Zany war. Or maybe it's about a new version of Zork called World War Zork?
;)

Thank you - that's one book I really didn't like
Can we please have a moment of silence for my lost World War Z innocence? I went to do a quick double-check that there’s an e-book edition available since I don’t already own it, and I saw the remainder of the title after the colon. I now know for sure what the ‘Z’ stands for. No doubt I’ve seen the full title several times before and just forgot, which is how one of my guesses managed to be correct. Spoiler: it wasn’t ‘Zany’. And I had such high hopes for a war fought with confetti bombs and guns that stuck out paper messages instead of shooting bullets. :(
C'mon, Quantum Thief! 😆 #stillhoping
Edit: I just realized Wild Seed is already among the buddy read scheduled books next month. Perfect.
Still voting for Black Prism just in case it goes on sale this coming month.
I voted for Quantum Thief, too!I've put the pom-poms back away and am content knowing that at least two of the things I voted for are in the top six. Worse come to worst, there are always buddy reads! (and those can be scheduled at convenience)

I was surprised as usually I dislike anything dealing with that subject
That’s good to hear. I’ve occasionally enjoyed books on that subject, but at other times they’ve been incredibly tedious.

as I couldn't see how an oral history could be made into an action movie with a major star, i didn't even bother to go see it. If they'd made it like Shoah but with actors instead of real people it could have been good. And the movie Shoah is actually far more horrifying than any Horror Movie

It annoys me because it could be a good movie if done right, but this was just a Zombie movie looking for a cool title.
Oof, I'd really love to re-read A Night in the Lonesome October, it's been a long time but I remember really liking that one. A ton of good books on this list!

I'm considering voting for Elantris and everything in the top six except Pratchett, to try and replace Pratchett with Sanderson. We can't possibly have a book with only 228 pages at the top! :D (Elantris already got more votes since I posted the tally.)But I won't, because I'm not that mean ^_^
Meredith wrote: "Well, Sabriel is hovering just outside the top 6..."I already voted for it, but Sabriel is one I really want to read and have been meaning to for a while.
<3 Sabriel. I sort of wish it wasn't on our shelf so I could require it be on our shelf. One of the best heroines of my youth, and a magic system I still sometimes just daydream about.

I'd be up for a buddy read whenever.
I also have Sabriel on my shelf already and already voted for it. If it doesn’t make it into the top 6 I’d be up for a Buddy read as well. It’ll then fulfill my TBR prompt if the same. 😊
