Read more than one book: I read 3 books, 1/3 of a graphic novel, and made a start on the audiobook! They're all mentioned already.
Read a book with a female protagonist: I feared this one, but then found an audiobook on Storytel I wanted to read and tadaaaaaa! Thank you, Ross Welford!

Get up and move around for 30 minutes: My sister and I went outside for a Pokéwalk. The entire break ended up lasting an hour!

Now that I've written this out, excuse me while I go back to listening (still so weird to me, and I'm sure I missed a chapter or 2 while cheering on people, but I am loving it anyways)! I am determined to still finish the graphic novel today, and the audiobook as well, so fingers crossed! That would mean 5 books in less than 48 hours :D

message 33: by Leni (new)

Leni Iversen (leniverse) | 566 comments I ended up two squares short of Blackout (no beautiful covers and I only did two or three mini challenges. I can't really remember. Part of the night is a blur.)

It was mentioned that kids who did the Bingo in the prep stage could get a couple of freebie squares for the readathon Bingo. In that case, both my kids managed Bingo. Let me try to break it down:

They both take a freebie for previously completed Bingo for D1. (I just didn't have the energy to involve them in the hourly discussions.)
My son also take a freebie on the mini challenges. I told my daughter she didn't have to do more than two. (She did the Draw it Out and the Book Spine Haiku)
For W1, my daughter wrote a message to another child in the readathon. My son cheered me with warm hugs and giggles. He is too shy to write to a stranger.

I posted for them on "currently reading", #readathon, and "what's on your plate".

Healthy snack: fruit smoothie
Junk food: pizza, cookies
They read more than one book and more than 500 pages. (My son completed 8 books. 1450 pages. Ok, there wasn't that much text on all those pages, but it's a solid achievement!)
They definitely read more than 8 hours too, although I couldn't say how many in total. Maybe 9 for my daughter and 10 or 11 for my son.

They did the 60 min reading sprint in the first hour. (My son was concerned because he had to run to the toilet at 58 minutes. I told him that was alright.
Oh, the audio book. They didn't really do that, but I acted audio book for them for an hour, reading Skulduggery Pleasant. Please tell me that was enough.
Books with beautiful covers: Prince of the Elves (Amulet, #5) by Kazu Kibuishi and Northern Lights (His Dark Materials, #1) by Philip Pullman
(My daughter didn't complete Northern Lights, but she spent a couple of hours reading it.) Prince of Elves also counts as Person on Cover, as does, The Promised Neverland, Vol. 5 by Kaiu Shirai

Move around for 30 minutes. They spent some time on the trampoline and my son also helped make smoothies.

Female protagonist: The Promised Neverland, Vol. 5, Northern Lights, The Mill on the Floss Prince of the Elves and Pokémon Adventures: Diamond and Pearl/Platinum, Vol. 1

Male protagonist: A bunch of Captain Underpants books. And The Promised Neverland vol. 5 has equal focus on a male and a female protagonist.

Something you consider spooky: The Promised Neverland for my daughter, Amulet: Prince of Elves for my son.

I think that covers it? Sorry if this is a bit jumbled. I suffer from sleep deprivation and caffeine jitters and I want to finish the book I was in the middle of when the readathon ended. XD
