I generally think Jamie is pretty liberal for an 18th century man when it comes to Claire. I honestly thought even a man in 1945 might have done the same i often have to remind myself how different women's rights and expectations have evolved in less than 100 years.

Yeah, that helped me get over it. After all, it's 1743:)

Great points.

Yeah I agree ladies. It didn't "bother " me even in the first read because as you said it had to be done. I even found the aftermath amusing:) Even Claire got it from the beginning. Is she hadn't I really woud have expected more resistance.
I think it is important that we remember the time period also when spanking would have been a normal practice. I wonder how it will be portrayed though in the series.
Diana Gabaldon made a joke about it in the fan even (if I'm remembering correctly) so I think it will be there.
yeah it definitely will be there, in the live tweetand QA he did some days before he revealed that the spanking was one of the scenes he casted for.
I cant imagine it not being there. I loved the Comi-Con event. DG was asked what she was most looking forward to seeing on the screen. She looked right at Sam and said (paraphrased here), " nothing personal but i cant wait to see you get raped. So we know that will be there lol
I started the first episode today and keep guetting intterupted. I loved the atmosphere ate the beginning and the music at the start is waw!!!
Yes!! I think it is a cover of a traditional song or at least sounds like it. My new favourite Tuitle song!
Dawn wrote: "Like i said, i have watched them so much, i am close to knowing that song by heart lol"Oh Dawn I totally intend to do the same:)
I saw this picture in a review today and though about the look you all are talking about :)
Ladies I was wondering about our discussion of the serie:) I like it very much but th serie will continue after the end of the BR, do we continue to give our impressionms here or have a separate discussion?
We'll chat here as long as y'all want to. I'm continuing with reading the series & would love to chat about them & the tv series.
OMG guys I 've just finished the first episode, FINALLY!! my thoughts : awesome! in details:
-I loved the title song !
- it was perfect as a first episode, so close to the book.
-Claire is so real, she has a strong presence, you just feel the backbone.
- I had shivers and my neckhair stood in scenes like the handreading, the druids in the dawn and the sounds coming from the stone before Claire touched it. powerful moments with perfect soundtrack.
- they really made Frank seem a lot nicer, in the book he comes across really condescending. I still don't know what topthink about the degree of connection they showed, but I suppose it is important to show what she wanted to come back to.
- as the first pistole sound rang across the forest my whole body jolted:) strong entrance.
-Randall I hate you fucking guts already...
- Jamie is so sweet in this episode despite the blood and his worrior self. Although he was injured he had a kind of dry humour :)
voila! that's for now:)
Well, that was a lot. I completely agree about Frank. I think Ron Moore made him a heck of a lot more likeable than DG did. Cannot wait to see what you think of two and three

Yay Ness! You liked it! I agree with everything you said. Including that title song...it's haunting. So glad you finally got to see it.
I was really suprised to find it on youtube too! all three episodes! I wonder if they'll remove it,so for you who dosn't have starz you can watch it there:)
All three are there??? That's surprising.
I guess STARZ is pretty happy given the outstanding numbers for them (over 5 million watched the first episode). That's a big win for them.

I've started my read of
. Anyone else reading/rereading? I'm planning to make my way through the entire series although it will be slowly as I have to keep up with other reads at the same time.

I am listening to Dragonfly in Amber now Sandra. I am with you Ness...lots to love and to hate. But then that really is what keeps us addicted right?
I think i worry if the show is on youtube. If people don't watch it on Starz, we lose ratings and that loses the show.

I agree Dawn. I don't care for it being on YouTube for the same reason. And I'm hoping it stays on a long time...as in all the books! :)

Dang! I'm so hooked. I'm into Part 2 of Dragonfly now & I simply don't want to read anything else, but I HAVE to. I find myself wanting to slip on my headphones & just hear Jamie's voice in my head. I can't stay lost exclusively in this world while I make my way through the series. I've got to keep up with other BRs, MRs, challenges, etc. Not sure if finally starting this series is a blessing or a curse! lol I do know I'm forever a fan!

See, this is what made me re-evaluate making those commitments. I feel bad that you can't read what you want when you want right now.

Yup...this is how I was the first time through. Let me know when you get to part four. I think that is the right section. There is one section i cant wait for your reaction to.
Jonetta, I've back off some of my commitments also (esp. ARC's for review, etc.) but monthly books I need to read for groups still add up. I just want to get lost in this series right now to the exclusion of everything else & that's just not possible. Well, I am lost in this series - lol - but can't exclude other books completely. I'll get there.
Dawn - you're scaring me now! lol I'll let you know.
The depth of the details just blows me away. How in the world did/does the author do this? Every minute detail leads to or refers back to something. Amazing.

Yes, it amazes me. Especially when she says she doesn't write in a straight line. There will be some minute piece of information in one book that then becomes huge in another. Like in Outlander, she makes several references to "my own heart 's blood" which is the title of book 8. Not trying to scare you. There is just one section where Davina Porter's narration really makes the scene.
