I didn't realize Smoke and Iron is out....getting that now!
Hey guys, just want to give you all a heads up that I had to make an unexpected trip to Canada. My father in law is in ICU and things are very uncertain at this point. I'll be making a big update tomorrow and I'll still be checking in, since we have a lot of waiting room downtime. I'm not disappearing but I case I'm quieter than usual I wanted to give you all a heads up.
Vicky, I saw someone in The Leaky Cauldron thread mention that for Tri-Wizard we’ll be able to use books finished after we complete all classes/spell-outs. I was able to get from the library Defy the Stars, the one that Ora read, which would bump us up 4 points. But I won’t finish before Friday. Is it worth me reading it?

Vicky is everything alright with your father in law? I know you said that you would update the SS, however if you need help with updating I can help.
Thanks for asking. He's doing better - still a long way to go and no concrete diagnosis, but there's talk of moving him out of ICU which is the most positive news we've had in a few days! I did a big update last night and just filled in the last few books from today. As of right now my husband is thinking we won't go in to the hospital today, so I have plenty of time to catch up!
Laura - I'm looking into your questions about using books we've finished before spells/classes are complete. I would say, though, that a book that big is good for points anyway!
Wolf - I'm talking to the MODs to see what they want to do. They were working on replacing you because it had been over a month since you posted on the thread and six weeks since you submitted a book read. Part of the challenge requirements were to check-in with your team at least once a week.

My guess would be that they will either 1) let us use any banked books for Tri-Wizard or 2) require us to have all new books. I think saying that books read after you finish spells/classes makes things complicated because each team will be different and if teams are waiting on slower readers for more obscure books and fast readers have banked a lot of books it's kind of unfair.
So really I guess it's up to you. We can always see what Tri-Wizard looks like and decide then if we're still able to switch books around.

Just a few official notes this morning.
Thanks to everyone who has checked-in after my PMs last night! As I said in the PMs one of the requirements you agreed to when signing up was to check in with your team at least once a week. You do not have to read a book every week and I am 100% understanding when things happen, but please try to stop in and keep us posted! A simple "I haven't read anything but I'm still here" post will do.
Tri-Wizard rules should be up soon and we'll definitely need all hands on deck to divide up the tasks, so I hope everyone is ready for that.
If you haven't read already, the challenge is being extended past July 31st - there's been no official word on how many extra weeks we will have, but if for any reason you can't (or just plain don't want to) join us in August, please let me know.
One of the mods has PMed me regarding some of the buddy reads that people have submitted as participating in that do not qualify. Buddy Reads for this TT require interaction with others in the thread, so one post with your thoughts does not count. I know some of the threads can be dead if you're picking up on a BR from the beginning of the challenge, but you should at least try to respond to some thoughts that other members have left. I have not yet had a chance to go back through them and double check which are compliant and which are not, but I will be looking through them all tonight and may have to take some out pending more interaction. I'll send PMs to anyone whose BRs are affected.

Hello!I have a question about the BOMs. I am doing the current one and with the comment above about Buddy reads, do I need to do anything in addition to answering the discussion questions?
If I remember right, last year I answered the questiones and left a few thoughts on other people's answers. I'll check when I get home (or maybe someone else can answer it before then).
