theDuke | 6491 comments Yes miss..right away miss.....doing it as fast as I can, miss! :)

Well done Phil...damn that was close, just 3 points off! Poor old Blues..their worse start to a season, since 18 something or other.

message 362: by theDuke (last edited Apr 27, 2018 11:18PM) (new)

theDuke | 6491 comments Blimey..hell of game between the cats v swans!

Goodness knows what happened to the cats..they had a 22 point lead at 3 quarter time.

message 363: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22141 comments Sorry, I've been out of action for the last 24 hours and will probably be out for much of tonight as well - having one of THOSE weekends!

Last night's result:

Western Bulldogs (Blastro) v Carlton Blues (RedJohn)
4.5.29 (Q1) 3.1.19
7.8.50 (Q2) 4.3.27
9.12.66 (Q3) 6.6.42
11.14.80 (Q4) 8.11.59

I did see all the game but it was far from inspiring. The Dogs should really have blown Carlton out the water - instead both teams seemed to lack very basic skills. Philip picked the Dogs by 20 so he was only i point off the final margin. Well done Philip - $6.00 going Canteen's way.

About 11.00pm, grandson (17 months) woke up with dreadful croup (out of nowhere) resulting in car trip to Emergency. A dose of steroids and home again by 2.30am.

Val H. | 22141 comments Tonight's games:

Hawthorn Hawks (unwanted) v St Kilda Saints (Lez)
3.7.25 (Q1) 0.4.4
4.9.33 (Q2) 3.7.25
7.9.51 (Q3) 5.10.40
13.11.89 (Q4) 7.12.54

Adelaide Crows (Deano) v Gold Coast Suns (Suzy)
4.4.28 (Q1) 2.1.13
10.7.67 (Q2) 3.4.22
13.9.87 (Q3) 7.6.48
16.11.107 (Q4) 8.8.56

Thanks Anita. he seemed much better this morning. However, my daughter was told croup is a reaction to a virus so we just have to keep our fingers crossed that the virus itself doesn't take effect in the next few days. A friend of hers had the same thing with her baby last week and had to return to the hospital for admission and baby put on oxygen.

message 369: by TheFoe (new)

TheFoe | 2638 comments Fingers crossed for your grandson Val, hope he makes a speedy full recovery.

Freo are really giving the Eagles a hell of a run for their money..both teams playing superbly.

message 371: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22141 comments Today's results:

Essendon Bombers (Val) v Melbourne Demons (TheFoe)
2.3.15 (Q1) 1.3.9
5.7.37 (Q2) 4.7.31
6.9.45 (Q3) 11.10.76
10.12.72 (Q4) 16.12.108

Collingwood Magpies (Tech) v Richmond Tigers (Philip)
2.2.14 (Q1) 3.4.22
5.7.37 (Q2) 4.9.33
7.9.51 (Q3) 8.14.62
10.10.70 (Q4) 16.17.113

Fremantle Dockers (unwanted) v West Coast Eagles (Sussex)
4.3.27 (Q1) 1.1.7
5.4.34 (Q2) 6.6.42
9.7.61 (Q3) 10.7.67
12.9.81 (Q4) 13.11.89

Essendon clocked off at half time and their four goals in the last quarter was too little too late. In the immortal words of the Coodabeens they need to TAGHLAO (take a good hard look at ourselves).

The other two games had quite long periods of excitement when you felt the game could go either way before the favourites finally asserted themselves.

Val H. | 22141 comments Our tipsters' ladder is as follows:

Round 6 (first number is correct number of wins - you want this to be high; number in brackets is the cumulative margin which is used to separate punters on the same amount of points - you want this to be low)

Tech on 8 (2)
Philip on 7 (1)
Duke on 7 (3)
Blastro on 7 (6)
Deano on 7 (10)
Anita on 6 (3)
RedJohn on 6 (4)
David on 6 (16)
Lez on 6 (22)
Val on 6 (26)
Foe on 6 (33)
Sj Brooke (Steve) on 5 (14)
Grizzly on 5 (28)
SussexWelsh on 5 (29)
Suzy on 2 (34)

Charity donations are:

Philip (Canteen) - $6.00 (highest score - Tigers 113)
Philip (Canteen) - A$6.00 (closest margin)
Tech (Oscar's Law) - A$11.00 (weekly winner)

CUMULATIVE LADDER:

Tech on 36 (141)
Duke on 36 (187)
SussexWelsh on 36 (197)
Lez on 35 (209)
Val on 34 (203)
Sj Brooke (Steve) on 33 (197)
Blastro on 32 (136)
Anita on 32 (185)
Philip on 31 (305)
David on 30 (167)
Deano on 30 (253)
Foe on 29 (200)
RedJohn on 29 (288)
Grizzly on 24 (203)
Suzy on 21 (203)

Congratulations tech on only dropping one game this week and to Philip whose Tigers are looking very good! Some changes on the cumulated ladder sees tech and Duke leapfrogging Sussex, with Lez only a point behind them. Suzy is probably feeling much more comfortable propping all of us up.

Val H. | 22141 comments The Coodabeen Champions is a weekly (Saturday morning) radio show on the A.B.C. which takes the mickey out of the AFL, the players, the game and the media. They have produced some wonderful songs over the years (mostly penned by Greg Champion). Some of you may enjoy "Red Hot Go" :

We were playin' footy
For the Coodabeens
In our annual match
Against Tullamarine
We were getting' flogged
Things were pretty crook
When someone yelled out
Take a good hard look!

CHORUS
Then we TTC - Turned The Corner
Had an RHG - Red Hot Go
Yeah, we OTFG - Opened The Flood Gates
We got BIT - Back In Town
We LOG - Lifted Our Game
And took a good hard look at ourselves.

Well the coach came out
He said you're JG - Just Going
He made a BS - Big Statement
Said it's a WNBG - Whole New Ball Game
He said'you're LDB - Looking Down the Barrel
And take a GHLAY.

Then we TTC - Turned The Corner
Had an RHG - Red Hot Go
Yeah we TCAP - Threw the Cat Amongst the Pigeons
We got BIT - Back In Town
We STD - Spat The Dummy
And took a good hard look at ourselves.

My game had been bad.
In fact I'd had an AS - Absolute Shocker
The coach pulled me out
Said I had an AP - Attitude Problem
He said you've DYB - Dropped Your Bundle
And take a GHLAY

We were H&H - Home And Hosed
It was an HHG - Happy Hunting Ground
TLTB - Thankyou Linesmen Thankyou Ball boys
We were CPs - Consummate Professionals
We TNFS - Thrust our Names in Front of the Selectors
We GEI - Gave Every Indication
We got BTB - Back To Basics
And took a good hard look at ourselves.

theDuke | 6491 comments A couple of tough ones to call, no doubt the surprises will continue on, but my confidence in my beloved Giants to get the job done, isn't high enough, they just haven't got the accuracy this year, then again, the cats home loss last week was a surprise, but I think they'll get the job done...just. I'm going with the most of the favourites for the rest, except for Eagles v Port match...and I'm not overly convinced that the Demons will have it that easy against Kilda...but going to stick with the favs.

message 400: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22141 comments David - on the contrary, things are going quite well, tonight at least.

Tonight's result:

Geelong Cats (awaiting MC) v Greater Western Sydney Giants (Duke)
4.1.25 (Q1) 1.0.6
7.2.44 (Q2) 2.5.17
12.3.75 (Q3) 2.7.19
14.9.93 (Q4) 4.8.32

David had the closest margin even if he was a tad conservative (Cats x 24). They ran out 71 point winners in a rather scrappy game. But, winners are grinners so David breaks his duck with $6.00 going to The Song Room. Well done!
