All good GG. Still got 9 hours till the bounce and there's a few (me included) yet to make an app..."

Cheers Val;
I knew I wouldn't make the morning deadline as the earliest I get home is 11:00, which never happens when you want or need it :)

Val H. | 22141 comments Tonight's result:

Adelaide Crows (Deano) v Western Bulldogs (Blastro)
3.1.19 (Q1) 0.3.3
3.3.21 (Q2) 1.7.13
6.6.42 (Q3) 1.10.16
9.9.63 (Q4) 2.14.26

The one factor none of us were aware of was the atrocious weather in Adelaide - bucketing down. a shockingly low-scoring game but Steve was nearest the jack with his tip of the Crows by 40, only 3 out. $6.00 in the kitty for Swags For Homeless. Well done Steve!

theDuke | 6491 comments Congrats Steve...I knew I shoulda put a bigger margin down!

I shall be listening to the Roos v GWS game....but my loyalities are somewhat divided....I tipped the roos..but really want GWS to win!

I think it's just Red John left to post his tips.

theDuke | 6491 comments Blimey! What have the Bombers had this week?

The Cats seem to have decided to stay home and preen themselves today! :)

message 512: by theDuke (new)

theDuke | 6491 comments Fair play to the Bombers..they certainly bombed on the puddy cats today! I think, they need some more napping time! :)

message 513: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22141 comments Today/night's results:

North Melbourne Kangaroos (Steve) v Greater Western Sydney Giants (Duke)
5.4.34 (Q1) 1.5.11
7.5.47 (Q2) 7.10.52
14.8.92 (Q3) 8.11.59
17.10.112 (Q4) 9.15.69

Gold Coast Suns (Suzy) v Port Power (Grizzly)
4.2.26 (Q1) 5.5.35
5.3.33 (Q2) 6.9.45
6.6.42 (Q3) 8.14.62
6.6.42 (Q4) 11.16.82

Essendon Bombers (Val) v Geelong Cats (awaiting MC)
5.2.32 (Q1) 2.2.14
9.5.59 (Q2) 2.3.15
10.11.71 (Q3) 3.5.23
12.12.84 (Q4) 7.8.50

St Kilda Saints (Lez) v Collingwood Magpies (Tech)
3.5.23 (Q1) 3.3.21
7.7.49 (Q2) 7.6.48
9.9.63 (Q3) 14.7.91
10.12.72 (Q4) 15.10.100

Sydney Swans (Anita) v Fremantle Dockers (unwanted)
3.3.21 (Q1) 0.4.4
7.4.46 (Q2) 1.7.13
11.6.72 (Q3) 2.9.21
17.9.111 (Q4) 7.10.52

Yet again, I've been out and the only footy I caught today was the second half of the Essendon/Geelong game. For the Bombers, it was just one of those days when every mark stuck, every shot went through and every umpire decision went their way. Pity they let in three late goals but still a very creditable performance by my boys. Unfortunately, they've got some tricky games coming up including away to the Giants and home to Richmond.

message 514: by theDuke (new)

theDuke | 6491 comments The way GWS is playing at the moment Val..i don't think the Bombers need worry too much, Giants can't kick straight for love nor money atm, way too many behinds..they'll be very lucky to make the 8 this year.

But the Tigers will most probably murder them!

Val H. | 22141 comments Today's results:

Carlton Blues (RedJohn) v Melbourne Demons (TheFoe)
3.1.19 (Q1) 3.4.22
5.3.33 (Q2) 10.4.64
7.6.48 (Q3) 18.6.114
7.8.50 (Q4) 25.9.159

Brisbane Lions (David) v Hawthorn Hawks (unwanted)
4.1.25 (Q1) 5.0.30
9.1.55 (Q2) 7.2.44
13.6.84 (Q3) 9.3.57
20.9.129 (Q4) 11.7.73

West Coast Eagles (Sussex) v Richmond Tigers (Philip)
6.1.37 (Q1) 2.3.15
7.2.44 (Q2) 6.8.44
14.6.90 (Q3) 9.8.62
20.10.130 (Q4) 12.11.83

Great result for the Lions who are playing exciting footy despite their poor results to date.

Val H. | 22141 comments Our tipsters' ladder is as follows:

Round 9 (first number is correct number of wins - you want this to be high; number in brackets is the cumulative margin which is used to separate punters on the same amount of points - you want this to be low)

Val on 7 (5)
Duke on 7 (7)
Blastro on 7 (14)
Grizzly on 7 (43)
Sj Brooke (Steve) on 6 (3)
SussexWelsh on 6 (10)
Foe on 6 (20)
Tech on 6 (20)
Deano on 6 (21)
Anita on 6 (25)
RedJohn on 6 (60)
Lez on 5 (6)
David on 4 (60)
Philip on 4 (60)
Suzy on 3 (50)

Charity donations are:

Foe (Launch Housing) - $6.00 (highest score - Demons 159)
Steve (Swags For Homeless) - A$6.00 (closest margin)
Val (Beyond The Orphanage) - A$11.00 (weekly winner)

CUMULATIVE LADDER:

Tech on 56 (208)
SussexWelsh on 56 (272)
Duke on 55 (264)
Sj Brooke (Steve) on 54 (261)
Blastro on 53 (241)
Lez on 52 (370)
Val on 51 (272)
Anita on 50 (314)
RedJohn on 49 (415)
Deano on 48 (398)
David on 46 (296)
Foe on 46 (372)
Philip on 46 (421)
Grizzly on 40 (338)
Suzy on 28 (326)

Do check your scores - i seem to have been going astray in recent weeks. For some reason I had it in my head that if Richmond won, Steve would be the weekly winner and if the Eagles won, it was all Duke's. But when I pressed the "Sort" button on Excel, it turns out I am the weekly winner, which is a bit of a relief as my charity was looking rather sad. The overall ladder is bunching up a bit so remember to get those tips in. Well done everyone!

message 520: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22141 comments If anyone would like to view the AFL Ladder before submitting next week's tips, it's at http://www.afl.com.au/ladder

Only 8 games next round as Port and the Suns get a bit of a rest after their China trip.

Next week's fixtures are:

Friday, May 25
Collingwood Magpies v Western Bulldogs (in Melbourne)

Saturday, May 26
Richmond Tigers v St Kilda Saints (in Melbourne)
Brisbane Lions v Sydney Swans (in Brisbane)
GWS Giants v Essendon Bombers (in Sydney)
Geelong Cats v Carlton Blues (in Geelong)

Sunday, May 27
Hawthorn Hawks v West Coast Eagles (in Melbourne)
Melbourne Demons v Adelaide Crows (in Darwin)
Fremantle Dockers v North Melbourne Kangaroos (in Perth)

If punters could lodge their tips by midnight THURSDAY May 24 (your time) it would be a great help, although I can accept them up until 10.45am FRIDAY May 25 (your time) if absolutely necessary.

Congrats to Val, Steve & Nick. Your Demons were amazing today Nick...so were the Eagles & Lions...I knew I shoulda punted the Lions..they are coming on leaps and bounds..maybe next season, they will be a team to reckon with.

theDuke | 6491 comments Well..rather uncharacteristically of me, but I'm posting a part weekly tips (the TBAs to be edited soon) . I usually wait for the 'expert' tips and predictions to get posted..but i'm gonna go on instinct for round 10...

Tigers
Lions (risky, but they are performing well currently)
Giants (hard to call, but GWS should pull it off on their home turf)

Craig White | 6727 comments ewww! good luck with that, anita - i was 23 when i got chickenpox, and for all you fact fans out there, counted 49 'plooks' on my nose alone! do they not still have the practice of letting all the weans play with the 'infected weans', so they can all contract it early and be done with it? or am i still in the dark ages? :)

Anita Bailey | 3841 comments Thanks,I do hope I don't get it!I have looked after children before, and I didn't get it so hopefully I'll be ok .I left on Friday and Annabel had a dozen spots, went back today and she is covered in them.Tech we don't do parties like we used to when we wanted ours to catch it.I f the baby gets it at the end of the incubation period in two weeks or so they're in trouble ,they are off on holiday to Sardiniathat week.

Fingers crossed Anita! It was 1982, both boys caught it and had about 20 spots between 'em. My mother said " Don't worry, you had it when you were about 12". Guess what........3 weeks later I was released from hospital. Not a square inch of my body had been spared.....literally. A really nasty experience. Avoid at all costs.

Suzy, my Mum's memory was faulty. It transpired that I did not have it as a child. It was just the one time at the tender age of ??!!

I remember being taken to a Measles Party and being the only Kid there not to catch it. Instead I caught it a year later, the very day before my Mum was due to start a new Job, and so she had to call in Sick herself and miss her first week to look after me! - LOL!!! ;o>

Blastronaut | 1061 comments RIP Brendan Ingle. Little Irish fella who really put Sheffield on the map of world boxing with that unmistakable low hands switch-hitting style. Trained at least four world champs and then some who came very close.
Huge loss to British (and World) Boxing. Legend.

Err, sorry folks. As you were...
