Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Was a bit windy to sit outside for too long reading, but did finish the book I started yesterday and started a new one, so can't complain. Just a bit of washing up to finish, and figure out what to have for tea. Just booked my flights to Jersey.

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Congratulations, Patti and Dave!

Been a long day - don't know if I'm coming, going or meeting myself in the middle!

What a lovely change to be off work when the weather is gorgeous, and go back to work when it turns dull and rainy.

We took K's grandchildren there a week or so ago. LOT of walking involved, but a lovely day. (Today, in contrast, seems overclouded and cool)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Village fish and chip lunch today. I'm on the team - don't have to cook it but we set the tables, butter the bread, make tea, wash up etc. It's always a bit of fun.

David Hadley As some of you have already noticed on Facebook, like Patti I was also at a wedding.

In my case, I was getting my eldest daughter married off.

An expensive excercise, as I recall. Best wishes to both the married couples.

events like that can be :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Lucy randomly woke me up at 5.40 this morning, not sure why. I at least managed to get back to sleep. A lot cooler here and thunderstorms forecast, which might be a good thing, as there are now 6 moorland fires, so rain would help put them out. They are saying some were deliberately set off, which is so sad. Was really windy last night, but that seems to have gone. Had another incident last night, had just set off at a set of traffic lights when a puppy ran in front of my car, luckily I was going slow enough that I could stop and the person behind me didn’t hit me. Foot is very sore today, not sure if it’s swapping back to boots after wearing sandals all weekend, or the extra walking going to and from my neighbours house.

Hope your daughters wedding went well David. Enjoy your fish and chip lunch Kath.

Thanks Kelly - Unfortunately I will miss the Battle of the Flowers as I'm not there until the 16th August and only there for 4 days, with the wedding being taken up with one of them. I've been to the underground hospital and tunnels on Guernsey and that was interesting and I'd heard that the Durrell Zoo was good too...... so, hopefully, I will be able to give either one of them a visit.

I seem to be writing again, which feels odd after time off for being ill

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Will wrote: "Morning all.

That’s good news, Will (the writing, not the being ill). I’m still finding my brain after finishing The Cull, but summer hols are coming, so hopefully I’ll get back behind the keyboard proper and get some serious words down again soon!! It’s surprising how tiring it can be.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Had to get to work early today for a 2 hour health and safety meeting, was actually quite fun. We had a bit of heavy rain last night, but not that as much as forecast, it appears the fires may be out, but the road closures were still in place this morning. Had a bit of rain on the way to work this morning, and looks like we might get more today. Got to remember to put the recycling bin out tonight, neighbour normally does that!

What a shame you’ll miss the Battle of Flowers Flo. Happy birthday Patti. Glad you are writing again Will.

It is hard work getting to a word count regularly. I've no idea how Jim manages it, with everything else he has going on

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments So glad it is Friday, really tired, mainly thanks to Lucy, was just dozing off at 10.30 when I heard her making a funny noise, looked at her to realise she was going to be sick, so chucked her off the bed! Then she kept mouth chewing, which she used to do as a sign of being sick, but now does it to get my attention! Didn’t work last night, I shut her out of the room, for the first time ever. Unfortunately it didn’t quite work, she kept scratching at the door so was still awake at 11.30. Then she started fussing to come in at 5am. Told her she could if she was good, she walked all over me, jumped down and started mouth chewing again, so kicked her out again. Probably should have just given her a treat, but told her to shut up and go downstairs instead. Going to the tip after work, then some food shopping on the way home. Has started to rain, and the wind is getting up a bit. Noticed on the way home last night that there are a lot of dandelions around, don’t recall seeing that many before.

Hope you get your wi-fi sorted Kelly, tip for GR on a mobile is to request the desktop site, then it looks the same – I click a button at the top of the screen to get that option. Am sure someone will find something for you to do Kath.

Responding to previous requests for help is likely to get you new requests. My guess is that you're well known as a giver of many skills and interests.

You have to find your balance between spending all your time on yourself, and all (plus money) on others. It is so nice that you have the wherewithal to help - may that continue forever.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Thanks for the good wishes.

We went out with friends to celebrate last night.

My husband is a bit broken today.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4839 comments Hope he mends quickly, with the help of his new wife.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Urgh, had an early night last night which resulted in being awake at 4.30! Got back to sleep but Lucy wanted breakfast at 7.30. Eventually got up at 8, fed all 8 cats and tried to go back to bed (Lucy had beat me there!), but couldn't sleep but feel tired. Weather is rubbish, so think I'm going to finish decluttering the kitchen, go to the charity shop and might wander to Lidl.

Hope you haven't broken Dave too much Patti!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments It’s a bit wild and windy here. The wind in the night was very strong. It made the roof tiles chatter a lot and it’s stripping the new leaves off everywhere.

message 10696: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. My damson has lost leaves too. That was from the violent hailstorm of Thursday evening. Blimey it was heavy!
Just had our little walk. It's jolly cold.

Is there a warranty claim involved?

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Hello everyone, my email alerts are broken. I don't get them any more. Hence my rather more sporadic presence.

Morning all! ;-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Quite a good day, got my errands done (charity shop didn't want old fashioned suitcases though, so need to go back to the tip!), bumped into a friend, got back just as it started bouncing down! Did one of the things in the kitchen, decided to leave the other two till tomorrow or I might have nothing to do! Glad tomorrow is my last full day catsitting

That's annoying MT
