Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments He finally got off the couch about 1pm. Then promptly moved to another couch.

I'm enjoying a 4am coffee in peace at the moment. I do like this time of day although I know I'll be tired later.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all, looks like another lovely one. Beautiful here the whole day long yesterday despite all around suffering rain, wind, fire and pestilence.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Morning all, was blinded by the sun when I went to feed the girls this morning, looks a lot nicer than forecast, might even be able to get the washing pegged out. Sunday chores and housework, then hopefully a nice soak in the bath.

Hope friend sorted out wifi so hubby can use the shed. Hope Dave is better today.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. April showers, though some at the end of last week were deep showers of hail. It's sort of medium to okay today. I potted up four tubs of lilies this spring and kept them in the greenhouse to get a head start. I'm now acclimatising them to the great outdoors by brin ging them out during the day for a week or so. Next year, no spoiling. They'll be out there in all weathers.

Might write a bit.

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Couch-surfing can be good.

Yee hah - wifi works in shed, and it is now husband's xbox gaming shed. The study is mine, mine, MINE!!!

Got a deadline tomorrow, and quite a lot to do to meet it!!!

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4839 comments The homes tour - about a hundred of our neighbors and new friends - is starting. Three hours from now I will know if we survived.

Husband emptied every packing box in the living room!

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all!! Back to it today. It’s warm but damp in the valley this morning, a sure sign that exams are almost upon us again!

message 10708: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. Up early (for us - 7:30). There's a man coming to look at the shower cubicle door. Between 8 and 12 so no doubt he'll turn up after 11.
A bit grey here but we're off out this evening with friends for a meal.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Was tossing and turning from 4am, so managed to get in work early, and neighbour is back this afternoon fortunately. It has been easier catsitting without my voluntary work, or maybe that’s just the timing, I only had 4 days in work and not much on. Blue skies today again. Had an e-mail from TalkTalk, they have joined up with Amazon so I can watch Prime video on my YouView box, will have to keep Prime now – was wondering what to do with the tiny amount extra I get with the tax change!

Hope you survived Alicia! Hope you managed your deadline Kelly. Hate it when you get such a vague times Kath, it’s rare they get there at the early end of the scale!

message 10710: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Congratulations Mr & Mrs Dave!!!! haven't caught up with any of the other posts yet but just had to respond to that news.

message 10711: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4839 comments Morning, all.

Hope you're not to exhausted, Desley.

The repair people always come at the worst possible hour, Kath. I think that's required by their employment contract.

Survived. Being on the house tour.

It wasn't bad, but it was exhausting - and I have a picked up and unpacked apartment as my reward. I can get from one end of the living room to the other! Husband worked amazingly for hours.

I'm not doing anything I don't have to for two days.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Kath wrote: "Morning. Up early (for us - 7:30). There's a man coming to look at the shower cubicle door. ."

That's an unusual job, Kath!

Bright and sunny morning, national tests for YR 8 and 9 and not much else. It's nice not have any news, really.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments We've got the dreaded haar. Should lift later, hopefully

message 10714: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! Mind your lip there, young Gaff!
Off to post son-in-law's birthday card. Etc.

Jim | 21812 comments fine here but overcast
We've got grass down and are hoping the contractors can cart it in before the rain comes

I could do with a quiet day, but I don't think that i'm going to get one

It's getting silly here because I've got other things to do as well :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Another bad night sleep, went to bed at 9.30, woke up at 12.30, had something to eat and drink, but was still awake till 3am. Then woke up at 5 and kept waking up every 10 mins, so got to work early again. Lucy stayed in bed 10 mins after I got up though! My neighbour got back before me yesterday, so had been to the Co-op to get something for tea, so she cooked last night. She also brought me a massive bar of Maltese nougat back, I love it. Messed about with the new Prime app on the box last night, not sure I like it, not easy to search for shows (haven’t found a search facility, or even a genre selection), but it reminded me I can get Netflix on it, so think I might try that instead.

Glad to hear from you Jud, was only thinking on my way home last night that you hadn’t been on for a bit. Hope you have more work to do after some time off and glad you had a nice break. Glad you survived the house tour and that the unpacking is done Alicia, hope you can have a restful couple of days. Fingers crossed for the grass cutting Jim, think it’s going to rain the rest of the week.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I've just discovered an effective way of removing those annoying plastic wing nuts that hold toilet seats in place (the ones that sieze up when you want to change the seat).

I burnt them off with a cigarette lighter...

message 10721: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments Shearing them off with a set of stilsons works as well :-)

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Overcast and damp in the valley today. Mixed bag of lessons to get through, but nothing too strenuous, I hope!!

message 10723: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

My manager is off for the rest of the week so I have nothing to do until 2pm when I'm going for a meeting, I'll have minutes to do from that. Think I'll read a book in the meantime.

message 10724: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments pleasantly damp :-)
You can hear the grass growing

message 10725: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments It's doing that here too!
Been food shopping and now I've got reviewing, writing and beta reading to do - Oh and a sticky rhubarb cake to make for tomorrow's cake club.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Another bad night sleep, slept through till 3, then got up and had something to eat and drink, woke up about 5ish, but then felt really drained when I woke up at 6.45, so decided no point rushing trying to get to work early so turned over. Really do hope I sleep through tonight, feel the worst I’ve done all week, headachy today. And not sure why, but my hand is a bit sore, my foot was at 3.30 so took a paracetamol, my psoriasis was really itchy and my cough is back. At least we have a long weekend coming up, and extra long for me, I’m off Tue, although have to take my neighbour to a hospital appointment.

Sorry you still have no work to do Jud, do you have your headphones today? Ooh, sticky rhubarb cake sounds lovely Kath.

Sorry about the bad nights - you've had a string of them. Hope you can catch up over the weekend.

I ended up having to do all my exercises after going to bed and taking ibuprofen, too. Darned sciatica.

message 10728: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Yes I have my headphones! So I was listening to behind the scenes GoT stuff on YouTube. Had a meeting this afternoon so got some minutes to type up now.

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Morning all,

Start the new job today.

Finally watched The Princess Bride yesterday. It is a good film.

message 10730: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments How do? Cake club - and we're squashed into the small meeting room because the polling people insist on having the big one - for their table and two voting booths. And we pay in advance. Not that I ever had much faith in politics.

message 10731: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

Did you try bribing them with cake? Sure, a smaller room just means you are all closer to cake.

I didn't register to vote in time to vote today, not that I would have known who to vote for even if I did. But then, with Stormont out what's the point?

Good luck in the new job Lindsay

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hi all.

Unbelievably busy at work. Meeting after meeting.

Stupid hot here and rolling blackouts means we sweltered in our flat all weekend and during the holiday yesterday.

Mum's daycare have to move the dining tables into the other room and only use the one room today. The other large room looked empty with just two people sat there with their table, the two candidates sat outside with their rosettes on looked pretty bored too - they are sat opposite the toilets so I am sure they will see plenty of action ;)

message 10735: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I’m back on duty. Little lad choked a bit at school yesterday then puked. Their policy is 48 hours off school for pukers although it wasn’t an infection. He’s got yet another cold and looks like tonsillitis again so I’m looking after him. I got quite out of the habit if getting up early. No voting here for the council.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Kind of a better night sleep, slept through till 4.45 and then tossed and turned a bit, so still tired, but at least the headache and sick feeling has gone. Foot is sore though. Keeps trying to rain here, don’t think we’ll be having a nice bank holiday weekend after all! Glad I got to work early, Lucy is at the vets at 6.20, I need to get some money for the cleaner, tidy a bit and drop the key off.

Thanks Alicia, in a row isn’t fun, at least I don’t neighbours cats to sort out too though. Sorry your sciatica has been bothering you. Glad you have your headphones again Jud. Hope your first day went well Lindsay. Aww, how sweet to have a hedgehog on your doorstep. Hope little lad is OK Lynne.

When curled up into a defensive ball, they are singularly unimpressive. I understand from K that they can be extremely vocal and noisy, too

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments They're really cute. Should only be out at night though, if you see one wandering about during the day it probably means it's unwell :(

Rained more or less all day today. The crows have pecked out the flashband on the rooflight AGAIN so it's dripping. Little buggers. Still had considerably less than five inches precipitation since the beginning of the year though, everything's really dry. Except my leak!

Some people have them as pets, but I would think that requires a lot of socialization and handling from the time they are babies.

Even tiger cubs are adorable.

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments My wife loves hedgehogs, we have a vet round here that will take them in and look after them over winter.

message 10743: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4839 comments They're cute. And for some reason they are very popular in nonograms (a kind of puzzle). And cartoons.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. We have a resident hedgehog nested somewhere between the garden borders. It can be pretty noisy during the summertime, but it's good to hear it there.

National tests at school today. I don't disagree with checking progress and understanding, I just disagree with the pressure it puts on the little darlings. Still, it's bank holiday weekend, which means and extra morning in bed, provided Mrs Gaff doesn't haul me off to a beach somewhere to look for glass.

message 10745: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

Must get some work done today. Then more job applications

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Kind of a better night sleep, slept through till 5.45 and then tossed and turned a bit, so still tired, foot is sore though and I seem to have developed some psoriasis in my scalp, not had that for years! Been raining here all day, afternoon meeting got brought forward, so a bit of a rush to get everything printed. Going to a different Lidl after work, mine has stopped selling something I like.

All this talk of hedgehogs is making me want to go to the local hedgehog rescue!

message 10747: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Afternoon. Just back from out haircut meeting at my friend's house. Lovely lunch and we told each other what was wrong with the world. We must have been right because we all agreed with ourselves.

message 10748: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Oh my giddy aunt - busy, busy, busy but . . . I am off to Spain for a week tomorrow. Yes! and, even better, it's a direct flight from Jersey. We don't get many of those. I am going to lounge around and read, read, read.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Urgh, started feeling a bit sick about 3pm yesterday, by the time I'd got back at 5 from doing the shopping I felt drained, then started feeling light headed, eating didn't help much. Went to bed at 8 thinking lying down would make me feel better, got to sleep about 10, but woke up every hour, gave up at 8.40. Was supposed to be going out for lunch for neighbours lodgers birthday, but he's not feeling well today, so think we are just going to the retail park instead, I have to take some stuff to the charity shop for my neighbour too. At least it is lovely and sunny, so might be warm enough to sit outside and read.

That sounds bliss Kelly, you sound like you need a rest.

message 10750: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. Enjoy that Spanish break, Kelly. You've earned it!
Weekend. Long weekend, in fact. I think large amounts of reading will be perpetrated.
