G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Thank heavens for ciprofloxicin, it was a real life saver for us after Mexico. Must have been all that water during the festival the other day, Patti!

Dark and damp here again this morning, and after such a lovely warm evening, too. Mixed bag of cover today including Maths. The little darlings are beginning to wind up to the holiday now, so let's see what happens ...

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, all. Still cold and grey over here, but at least it's dry.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

I'm waiting for a meeting to start, ended up with a last minute afternoon off yesterday so my parents could go to a funeral and we had a lovely day at the park and playing outside. Kitty and I made a Mickey Mouse cake and decorated it to look like the real Mickey Mouse (Kitty's demand).

Best go and pay attention to the meeting.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Woke up at 4 absolutely streaming with a cold, not sure I fully got back to sleep after that. Face feels puffy and am feeling a bit sick, which is kind of good as it’s wiping out my appetite. Still really windy, none of the cats are happy about it, and loads of bins and traffic signs blown over. Blue-ish skies though, but feels colder than it looks.

Glad you are better today Patti, enjoy Thailand! Ironic way to spend gardening leave Lindsay!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments How do? This is my only day this week with nothing in the diary. Better get on and not waste it.
Hope the interview went well, Jud?

message 10513: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

The interview was okay. I answered one question and as I finished it I realised I probably didn't use my best example but hey ho. Will find out at some point today.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I didn't get it. Not too bothered because I didn't really want it, I just wanted away from the job I'm in.

Still feeling a bit rubbish though

The rough bit isn't getting the job, it's being stuck in a job you don't like
Hope something really nice turns up for you soon :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Woke up at 4.30 with a headache and feeling very hot, not sure I fully got back to sleep after that. Keep getting a really sore face/nose, think that must be my sinuses. I don’t remember colds making me feel achy and sick when I was younger, don’t think I like it. And foot is really sore too, but was in a bit of a daze this morning so didn’t think of putting my socks on. Still slightly windy, but not as bad as it has been. Had a fire drill this morning, slightly worryingly I had to persuade people to leave the building!! Was rather cold stood out there.

Sorry you are feeling rubbish Jud.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Starting to think harder about nursing but we are going to view a house on Sunday, I guess buying a house isn't the best time to quit work and go back to studying

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hello from steamy Thailand, my lovelies!

Gotta say I chose a nice hotel. Huge dish of proper crispy bacon and proper bread at breakfast this morning.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. As surely as day follows night, it's Thursday! The sun is shining in the valley and, aside from having to de-ice the windscreen, its actually quite warm now. I'm sure there's been a mistake today though, because I have a free period on my timetable, and that pretty much never happens ...

message 10525: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning.

I'm glad the hotel is a success, Patti! I forgot to have breakfast this morning and now I'm starving and I have nothing breakfasty in the office...

Oh! I just found instant porridge in my drawer. Yay! Hunger sorted.

Lovely day here today, it was freezing waiting on the train platform and warm by the time I got to Belfast.

Ah the cultural imperialism of the decadent west :-)
Glad you're having a good time, a bit of proper food will set you up for a good day :-)

Bit like that here, glorious at the moment but there was a chill earlier
Oh and ignore the book promo at the end, but this story came out of comments somebody made about being trapped in a job they didn't like, so you might find it fun, Jud ;-)

tricky with a young family :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Well, managed slightly better last night, woke up at 4.20, but didn’t need to watch any TV to get back to sleep, although my headache was that bad when the alarm went off that I wish I’d took a painkiller when I first woke up. Managed to peg some washing out before coming to work though. Was an odd drive to work, was sunny enough I needed sunglasses, but it was 0 so I also needed gloves! Barely a cloud in the sky now. Cold is going on my chest, and getting a sore throat, receptionist said I sounded worse than yesterday and one of my colleagues has finally noticed I have a cold! Going to the co-op after work, hopefully I won’t come back with any books!

Good luck with your decision Jud, I can’t imagine going back to studying when buying a house would be a good idea. Glad you are having a good time Patti. Can imagine that feels sombre Kath

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I’ve been trying to get car insurance all morning, the one thing that really struck me was that people don’t listen - . It was quite an eye opener, anyway we got there in the end but it took a long while. I’m sure I listened to my customers when I was working. Is it me or a new phenomenon? I need insurance first to get a registration number from the DVLA. Most wont insure on the vehicle identification number they need a registration number. Anyway it’s a lot cheaper than the French insurance by several hundred pounds! And with no No claims bonus years.

message 10534: by T4bsF (Call me Flo) (new)

T4bsF (Call me Flo) (time4bedsaidflorence) I think a lot of them have stock answers that they're not allowed to deviate from Lynne!! The fact that these stock answers are very limited in the questions they can answer - seems to get totally overlooked.

message 10535: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Husband said the same Flo, he said they’d got a list and had to tick all the boxes. When the first answer is a 1993 model car then you run through nearly 15 minutes worth of questions then they say they don’t insure cars over 25 years old. Doh!

message 10536: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments you wonder why they bother to even employ people! What they're asking folk to do could be easily done by a computer attached to a Stephen Hawking type speech synthesiser

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Last day of term. A bit dark and gloomy in the valley, but it's not raining, so that's something. Bit of physics for me today, which I'm sure I'll enjoy; a lesson of IT which I'm sure I'll really enjoy, and a lesson of technology, which I won't enjoy as much. My day begins with Welsh Bacc, however, which I loathe, but it'll be nice to get it out of the way first thing. At least it's Friday, which is a bonus!

message 10541: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I had french insurance for 20years and earned maximum no claims with AXA. But to prove it I need a certificate from them and it takes about 3 weeks to get it, chivvying it along as well. I only have 30 days to get it registered and the DVLA takes 4 to 6 weeks according to their bumf. So I bit on the bullet and went as a new customer with zero years NCB. It was a bit galling to say the least to have him ask if I wanted protected NCB as an extra £20.
I did say you have to be joking. I actually asked what the difference was after getting my quote for maximum NCB and without and it was the same amount.!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Another slightly better night sleep, although realised I was a bit poorlier than I thought last night – went quite breathless with my cough, had to change the litter tray, put the wheely bin out and go to the shop, had to sit down between all 3 things and took my inhaler, but clearly not long enough as legs felt a bit like jelly walking round the co-op, so didn’t walk round the entire shop like I normally do and barely made it home. Not as breathless this morning, but a really sore throat. Cold and sunny again this morning, so drove to work in gloves and sunglasses. Neighbour wants me to go to the retail park with her after work, have said yes, then I shouldn’t have to leave the house tomorrow.

Sorry you struggled so much with car insurance – I remember one year cancelling and renewing with the same company as it was cheaper, then they asked me to provide proof of my no claims bonus so I asked them to speak to their own claim team! Doesn't sound a fun day Kath, hope the funeral goes as well as these things can.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Well, going to the retail park wiped me out, was ready for bed at 6, but forced myself to stay up till 9! Woke up at 5 with a headache and just woke up again with another headache. Luckily I don't have much housework to do today, so am going to try and chill on the sofa.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Lovely and sunny but that wind is very cold. Trying hard to stay awake, I had pizza and wine at lunchtime and I’m the only one not sleeping, stereo snoring from the dogs and OH is doing the descant. I’m tempted to record it but I don’t think he’ll believe it. 😁

Hope you feel better today Desley. Seem to be a lot of people coughing in the shops at the moment.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments The wind is shockingly cold! It's a real easterly, I'm used to being outdoors but I was certainly feeling it today and my face is radiating the heat back this evening from the wind burn. Sure it's that and not the sun even though it was bright!
