Good night, Jim.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Lol been up for hours Jim :) Best part of the day!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Well, I woke up at 5.45 and my foot was sore, so took a painkiller, just getting back to sleep at 7 when Lucy started fussing for breakfast. Woke up again at 9 and thought I better get up, supposed to be having a yodel delivery today and waiting for my timeslot. Little bit of housework, nipping to Lidl for something I forgot yesterday, then getting ready to go to a Greek night with neighbours family for her birthday. Currently sunny and the forecast has changed, no rain forecast now!

Sounds lovely Pam. Sorry OH isn't well for his birthday Lymme

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning, each. Sunny for a change. Had some lovely shots from husband's trail camera (birthday present) of the baby bunnies we know come into our garden. Cuteness overload!

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Grim start this morning but it perked up. McMini's school have given groups of kids £5 each and they have to spend it on things and, in a kind of parable of the talents, bring back more. If they get enough, they will have a trip to Harry Potter World after their SATS (which are next week). McMini's group was working in two pairs and the other pair had the £5 so muggins here and mum of McMini's McMate baked stuff and then we sold the cakes and boys made drinks.

By starting the patter with, 'we're raising money' because 'would you like to buy cake?' got a 'no' we managed to coerce pretty much everyone who passed into buying something while others donated. Most paid over the odds. The lads made £52, which is, quite frankly, amazing. I have some cakes left so I'll take them to church tomorrow and see if I can persuade any of my fellow congregation to buy some. Now the sun is out and I'm just enjoying the last few minutes of an hour's relaxing while McMini stays at friends house and plays. I've also managed to get a couple of hour's detecting booked for tomorrow afternoon so feeling pretty stoked.

It's been tough with Dad, but writing a blog post seems to have really helped.

'Morning' all!

Cheers

MTM

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments MT, that is def a healthy profit!

Back home from holiday, and brought the sunshine back with me. Jersey is glittering in one of those special sunny days that brings the island to life.

Shattered after a week of relaxing. Too tired to start on any of the many things I have to do, even though I do enjoy most of them. Instead, I shall have a glass of wine and read!

message 10809: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments cake helps as well Mary :-)

message 10810: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4839 comments Cake is actually NOT helping here: they have it for dessert every single meal. My ability to say no is limited - it is a daily battle.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments It's another glorious morning out there - I've hung my washing out, washed the kitchen floor and tidied up. Onto my second cup of coffee (fighting strength) and sorting out what I need to take down to the beach hut for restocking. Had a brilliant sales day yesterday :)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Well, had a lovely time at the greek place last night, lots of lovely food, and great entertainment, but the timings were out, so we were on the verge of going home as neighbours granddaughter was getting tired, but then she came to life when the entertainment started! Didn't get to sleep till 2, but woke up at 7.30 a bit dehydrated and headachy. Then got hungry at 8, have tried getting back to sleep but brain too switched on. Hands are sore from all the clapping! Got a washload in, as it's lovely and sunny so should get it dried outside. Luckily not much housework to do, got to do an amazon order, and maybe have a bath.

Sorry things have been tough with your dad MT, but glad you are finding things to help. That is an amazing amount to raise. Glad you are home safe Kelly, I find travelling very tiring, think your idea of wine and a book is a good way to end your holiday. I agree about cake helping.

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Kath, you're a powerhouse!

Desley, sounds like a great night.

It's my father-in-law's 81st birthday today, so we popped to theirs for breakfast. Then ended up trying to sort out my mother-in-law's ipad. She has, it seems, 4 different Facebook accounts - all with different friends attached to each! She blames my father-in-law. They nearly had an argument. I will need to sort it out for her at some point. (the Facebook, not arguing with her husband - I think they quite enjoy it!)

Lovely and sunny today.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Not a birthday without an argument! Good luck sorting out facebook for her!

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4839 comments It's Mother's Day in the Sates AND ME/CFS Awareness Day internationally.

Apparently, it's the biggest holiday celebrated at this community - 25% bigger in number of guests for the brunch than Christmas, etc. We haven't been here a full year yet.

Nice to see little ones and happy families.

As long as you don't want to eat at the most crowded times (reservations are required so they can plan), there are no problems or shortages, and it was lovely.

I had the sense to take very small portions of the desserts - they really spoil us.

Its hotter and drier in Mandalay than in Yangon, generally. Wet season isn't meant to begin until June.

Forecast of 41 today. Yay

Not that the ac is working very well. Haven't been able to get the lounge to cooler than 33 for days.

And I have the shits again.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Bright and sunny in the valley this morning, it's almost a shame to be stuck in the cave that is the drama studio for the first two lessons. It was a lovely weekend on the beech. Oh well, coffee and go time! ;-)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

Beautiful day today, started a step count challenge at work (it lasts 4 weeks) so I'm going to have to get up and about more than usual :o) Will need to go for a walk at lunch.

Hope you feel better soon Patti and you had a much cooler weekend.

Happy Mother's Day for yesterday to all the mum's across the pond.

Why are drama studios always done up so dark?

Hope the birthday boy is feeling better this morning Lynne.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! Got some books to post out today for people who won the chance to name a character in a character in a charity auction. Then more tomato planting and another sticky rhubarb cake - by request of The Management.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Didn’t want to get up this morning, but it is nice and sunny. Wasn’t warm enough to sit outside yesterday, did the amazon orders, ordered 6 CD’s for a friend, something for my neighbour and something for me while I still have prime, only used it for 1 of the 8 things, all my friend’s CD’s were cheaper to pay delivery for than ordering with prime! So cancelling that! I did however make my friends day, she didn’t expect to be able to get all 6 CD’s with the money she gave me, so that made me really happy. Was also pleased yesterday, when we went out on Sat I wore some shoes I bought last year just after injuring my foot, but never got chance to wear them last year, thought I’d try them as I knew there wasn’t a lot of walking, and not only did they not hurt on the night, my foot wasn’t sore at all yesterday. Annoyingly my YouView box was acting up this weekend, hope it has fixed itself – switching it off and on didn’t last for long! Sciatica is twinging a bit today though. Trying to catch up from only having a 3 day week last week. Neighbour has got a new appointment for next week, fingers crossed it doesn’t get cancelled again.

Glad you had a nice meal Alicia. Wow Patti, not sure I Could cope with 41 degree heat. Sorry that you are struggling to get the flat a reasonable temp, no wonder you have a dodgy tummy. Good luck with the step count challenge Jud. Sounds a nice day Kath, still jealous about sticky rhubarb cake.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments With the help of a lump hammer and a lot of swearing, I managed to coax K's ride on mower into life after 3 years of sitting idle. It's a lot easier than cutting back the grass with a strimmer.

And a lot more fun, I bet when it works!

Well done on the pudding abstinence, Alicia and Patti, sorry to hear you have mandalay belly (that sounded better in my head than it looks written down).

Jud, good luck with the stepping, Kath, good luck with the beta reading, Desley, glad the shoes turned out well!

Hope everyone else is dandy and enjoying the sun, it's bright and sunny here but there's a cool wind (alright when you're sitting behind a wall though!).

Trying to sort out a new will for Mum, not sure if we should now as the solicitor insists she see Mum alone and I'm a bit leery about that as she seems a bit spivvy and I'm not sure why she's so insistent that Mum can't have any family members there.

More investigation at the gym proved that my doubts are well founded. Everyone else who'd done wills with elderly parents thought it was weird too.

On the writing front, I've been sorting out covers for the new series and am appropriately stoked with the results! ;-)

Cheers

MTM

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Well, spoke too soon about my foot, woke up this morning and my bad foot was really painful, and my good foot is sore to walk on! And I foolishly decided I better put some sandals on because it is supposed to be warmer today than yesterday. Had another disturbed night sleep, but it is nice to have some sun and warmth.

I do like the sound of your life Kath! Glad you fixed the lawnmower Will. Good luck sorting your mum’s will out MT, glad the gym is open again.

message 10835: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Re the will: if they can get their firm to be the executors, instead of a family member, then the firm can get a slice of the estate. Bet she's been told to make sure that happens.

Desley, sorry about your feet, But yes, the warmth is so welcome

message 10836: by Pam (new)

Pam Baddeley | 3336 comments Sounds a bit iffy with the solicitor M.T. also, if your mum's will is straightforward you can often get a will done cheaply or for free via a charity. then you just go and see the nearest one on the charity's panel.

message 10837: by Pam (new)

Pam Baddeley | 3336 comments Oh sorry to hear your foot is poorly again Desley, sounded like good news at first.

Hope your tum is on the mend Patti.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Sunny and bright in the valley again. The flowers don’t know what’s hit them!!!

message 10839: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments That doesn't sound right to me either MT, I'd be looking at getting a new solicitor.

Morning

I've actually got a meeting today. Woohoo, work!

Super sunny today but I have a meeting at lunch so I won't get out for a walk with the girls, I may go myself or maybe I'll walk a little then sit in the sun and read my book.

message 10840: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Sunny and warm - there's a crow watching me work. He's sitting in the bush directly opposite my study window, and very curious

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments The crow is an omen of change Will :)

Another fabby day here. My ridiculous sandal tan is back

message 10842: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. Just back from the eye hospital. My optician referred me as he was suspicious of the slightly elevated pressure in my left eye - and Mum had glaucoma. All tests came back with good results. The consultant said that's within the bounds of normal (as near as I'll get) and is a touch of ocular hypertension. Sounds important, eh?
Downside is the glare from the dilating eye drops. Can't read without getting a headache and heaven knows what I've just typed here.

message 10843: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Glad the tests came back well, Kath. How long will the glare last, do you think?

There are loads and loads of crows here, Rosemary. The change I'm looking for is for them to all bog off, especially the one who likes flying into one of the downstairs windows, to attack the crow he can see there. It's his own reflection, of course, but he doesn't seem able to appreciate that!

message 10844: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Seems to be a common occurrence with crows https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjoI3...

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Well, yesterday got worse, by 3pm my psoriasis was really itchy, couldn’t wait to get home to put some cream on – my scalp was painful when I scratched it, decided to put some tea tree oil on it! Sciatica is really bad today too, and didn’t sleep well again. Had a nice moment with the girls this morning, so only had time for half a cup of coffee, then stopped on the drive to our office building as a young stag was wandering, didn’t want to risk it running in front of me, they are a bit fearless of cars round here! Sunny again, there was a local moorfire last night, could smell it on our street. Blue skies, but more cloud and not as warm as yesterday.

Glad you have something to do Jud! Glad they didn’t find anything wrong with your eye Kath, you made no mistakes in that post at all! Hope the glare goes quickly. We had an issue at work with crows the other year, they were forever flying into our glass doors and the amount of bird poo on it was disgusting.

message 10846: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments The glare has just about faded. The bright sunlight made it wirse but I've got a bit of a headache from the brightness. I'll just have to rest my eyes for a bit, eh? 💤

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments Sorry to hear of your eye problems, Kath. Don't read this, give them a rest ;o)

And Desley - hope you get some relief from the itches.

Will, you have crows, I have pigeons and a silly one that flies into the window pane too. I guess our troubles are small in comparison!
