Morning everyone. Woke up an hour ago and couldn't get back to sleep.
Sounds like you have a a mutated bug, Patti. I prescribe hot whisky, honey and lemon juice on no scientific basis whatsoever.
We went out to our local steak house chain last night as a twofer on main meals was pushed through the letter box last week. Not bad - and really pleased to find an option of pineapple with the gammon steak which is something I haven't had for years as himself doesn't like pineapple and I never get around to finishing the tin so it's a waste.
Can someone tell me why in any serving of frozen peas, whether at home or away, there is always a khaki one?
Morning all, I also woke up early, felt human enough to read though. Another admin day, then a home visit. Saw a lovely flock of what I assume were starlings this morningGlad you are feeling better Patti
Good news Claire! And glad you're both feeling better, Patti and Desley.Utterly vile morning here - all the Metro network is backed up with delays, and we had an unwelcome period of snow (the kind that doesn't settle, and just makes things damper).
Good day all. Have just discovered that I have been wearing my left contact lens inside out all morning which would explain the less than comfortable eye and disappointing vision!Bright and sunny day but a snell wind which does not encourage one to linger outdoors without an energetic job to do.
Lots of the paths were covered as well, despite it being 1 this morning, compared to yesterdays 0. Luckily there are people who get in our office an hour before me, so they had put our temporary heaters on, so the office is warmer than outside, and the engineers are currently making lots of drilling noises, so hopefully fixing the boiler. No wonder my cold isn’t going though, my throat is quite sore today. Hope changing the contact lens has helped Rosemary!!
doh! I ordered Velcro on line. I was very disappointed to get two scroddy strips instead of 2 metres. Looking at the order it’s my fault as it clearly says 200mm. Which i read assumed was 2m. Bummer. Now I’ve got to reorder and wait,
Similar to the notorious "smallest jar of mayonnaise in the world" grocery delivery incident we experienced in our house.
4 am Irish time is 8 am Azeri? Would that work for you? I assume you don't want to be woken up at 4 am your time!
Good, I'm a bit tired. Don't forget to do that Tesco order. And put in a couple of nice things for me.
Morning, woke up ridiculously early. Seems like another boring day, then a random vet visit, have to take my wrapped milk bottles and some buy a brick certificates, coming back with chocolate, paperwork and cat carrier - lets hope I don't forget the cat! Also hoping we will have heating today
It's actually a bit warmer here today than yesterday, when the car took ages to defrost so I could run some errands - and that was late morning.
Afternoon! What a day yesterday. Spent the morning on a village activity then dashed home for a bit of lunch and out to visit DiL in hospital. We arrived to be told that she could go home as soon as her meds came up from the pharmacy. They live 50 miles away from the hospital so we said we'd hang on and take her home. Three and a half hours, it took to get her meds - and they said they'd marked then urgent as she had a long way to go! God help the poor souls whose need wasn't deemed so pressing. We left home at 1:45 and got back at 8:45! It was lovely to see the little lad's face when his mammy came in, though.
It was snowing here this morning. Had a lovely chat with a chap from the Alzheimer's Society. He'd like to use my story for a ... well ... story. Have to ask the family's permission, then we should be set.Cheers
MTM
There didn’t seem to be much frost this morning, so was shocked at the car saying -1, it wasn’t as white as yesterday. Still no heating in the office though, our receptionist is sat wearing her hat!! At least we have cake today. Not jealous of you all having snow. That's ridiculous Kath, although last time I went to the eye clinic I waited longer for the drops than the appointment.
Kath wrote: "Afternoon! What a day yesterday. Spent the morning on a village activity then dashed home for a bit of lunch and out to visit DiL in hospital. We arrived to be told that she could go home as soon a..."How did I miss this one? Great job even if the wait was barking.
Desley, sorry to hear about the heating.
It’s snowing here Will. I walked to daughters in the dry but got caught in hail sleet and snow in the way home. My brolly had a good weight of snow on it but it didn’t settle on the roads. OH has just lit the woodburner, I made a pizza had a glass of wine and feel much better. Dogs have gone deaf and on strike - they are refusing to go for a walk and the sleet is beating against the windows. Yet another operation (the 5th.) for great niece for later in the week. She’s still got an open wound.
It's snowing here. Also snowed this morning while the sun shone brightly. One of the dad's at small church confirmed it was snow because he ate one of the flakes! ;-)
Nae snow here. Fearsome windchill though! Gave in and put the heating on earlier than schedule. I can also report I have switched to the winter slippers

We arrived to be told that she could go home as soon a..."Thank goodness she's home safe now Kath - and a lovely present for the little one. The wait for tth's from pharmacy is ridiculous and an age old problem!! A bit of research was done on this very problem - and this is what they came up with........
It was found that the process could be broken down into 4 key cycles of work:
1. Pharmacist generating the medication request (average 1.5hrs)
2. Prescription in queue waiting to be picked (average 1hr)
3. Prescription collection in Pharmacy Dept (average 50 mins)
4. Delivery of medication back to the patient (average 1hr)
The teams came up with 3 simple ideas that they wanted to try out.
1. Pharmacist on daily ward round to improve communication and reduce delays in generating prescription
2. Separate work line in pharmacy for outpatient and inpatient activity to reduce delays in the picking queue
3. Introduce a direct delivery service to wards from pharmacy to reduce delivery times of medication
Testing the concepts and ideas they planned a series of improvement weeks where they tested out the various concepts and measured the impact. Their aim was to develop a proof of concept, which could then be explored further and introduced appropriately. By doing a number of simple steps they found that after the first improvement week they had reduced the turnaround time from 4hrs 40mins to 2hrs 30mins. By retesting, refining and introducing the other ideas in the second improvement week, the teams reduced the turnaround time further down to 1hr 30mins
....... so if these ideas were only accepted universally - wouldn't it make a big difference to people who just want to get home?
Wouldn't it just? We could have gone down and collected them. The pharmacy is on the way out, by the door. Couldn't be done. We had to wait for them to be delivered to the 12th floor, handed over, then we had to go back down to the ground floor.

The electricians arrived at lunch but hadn't finished when I left at 5.30! Managed to save £7.50 a month on my phone bill though. Ended up with more to collect than I expected from the vet, took 2 trips to the car! Nearly left the cat there, she was a nightmare, will post more tomorrow.

Once the pharmacy team had set out on ward rounds, you couldn't get or change medication, which meant people were sitting waiting to be discharged and couldn't be because they couldn't go home because they didn't have their medication etc
Morning all, bit of a disturbed night sleep, 3 deadlines this morning followed by a meeting. Got a works night out, not really in the mood but will turn up for a few hours!
That's normally what I do with works nights out, Desley! No rain or snow over here anymore, but vicious levels of ice. Hope it's a bit less treacherous for the rest of you!
The yard is covered in ice this morning. Nearly had me over a couple of times. And still no snow.
Why am I living in a snow free zone?

Good morning.
I think I'm starting to feel less achy. Good thing, as I'm almost out of paracetamol.
