Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all. Awake for hours in the middle of the night :( I wasn't outside for long enough yesterday, obviously - need more daylight! Shall remedy that with a good long walk today

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Morning all, not sure if it is drizzly, cat doesn't want to go out. Our judge for the fancy dress walk has just dropped out, need to think of an alternative. Going to set up the tombola, then going to the christmas markets at the Piece Hall in Halifax, first time I've been since it was renovated.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, very mild her this morning, I’ve got a list of jobs I must get done today. No slouching allowed.
Latest update on the great niece, baby doing OK, he’s still got a few problems though. His dad has been feeding and changing him every two hours as Mum isn’t able to yet. She’s been told the best antibiotic is penicillin and she’s allergic to penicillin. You couldn’t make it more complicated but they have prescribed one that they hope she can tolerate. Here’s the bug to google Alicia. Trueperella bernardiae.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Poor girl Lynne, everything is going against her

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments It's been pissing down for hours. There's even rain on the windows. Don't think we've ever had that here before.

Lazy man didn't make breakfast. I made him make the salsa this afternoon as he bought all the ingredients. No way was I gonna.

Of course, the kitchen is a fucking disaster area now.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments If anyone is watching channel 4 tonight at 8pm they’ll see Julie Walters visiting my home town and going out in a boat with Jane the lobster lady (and high heid yin of the Harbour Trust who I leased my beach hut from last summer.) Not sure how long the feature lasts but will be interested to see how she gets here on a 125 as advertised, given that we’re on a branch line :)

message 857: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Sorry love, I won't be watching.

I hope I'll be asleep then.

I'd quite like some lobster, though.

message 858: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Afternoon all. I think I'm coming down with something again, which'd take me up to three colds so far this winter!

message 859: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh bugger, Ben.

Consider taking a vitamin C and zinc supplement. I dunno if it's just a placebo effect but I've had fewer colds since I've been taking them.
Also, wash your hands obsessively and try to not ever touch your face.

message 860: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Thanks, Patti, I'll give both a go!

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Echinacea + whisky mac. Sod off, cold!

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Sorry, don’t mean to shout but .... A NEPHEW! I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL NEW NEPHEW!

It’s been a tough week, but we’re overjoyed today to welcome the newest member of our family. 8lbs 2, Gethin Siôn (Sean). Now that’s an advent calendar treat you won’t find in shops!!

message 863: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Oh, congratulations to the parents - and the uncle and aunt, of course. A new life is always so exciting!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Well, am tired and stuffed, not many people turned up for the dog walk, at least it made judging easy, we had a couple where the lady was wearing a onesie, and only one child. I left sorting the dog prizes to someone else! Got help setting up the tombola and came back with a lot, including all the large prizes. Not got final figures but looks like around £350 over the two. I then had a lovely time in Halifax, markets were a bit small and not enough shops open, but had a lovely lunch. Friend also bought me two nail varnishes. Rather than come home early, we went to my friends grandmas, and got cake.

Congrats Geoff! Hope it doesn't linger Benjamin, mine is still lingering too.

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments congrats re the new nephew - lovely .

them colds are attacking everyone all over the place.

Spent the day putting Christmas decorations up - it took all day as friends turned up with their 11 month old baby so we had to stop, make tea, be sociable and play. Very nice but I am not a "turner-upper" myself. I would never just arrive on someone's doorstep without any warning. So many people do it to us that it must just be me!!

Not just you, I dont like turning up at someone's house without warning and not keen on people doing it to me

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments So, after a pretty crap week (all caused by a screw up I made on Monday), I've had a lovely weekend with my family in Yorkshire visiting Harewood House. And I start back on shift tomorrow morning, little bit nervous!

Kelly, I'm fully in agreement with you, I'd hate anyone to just turn up on my doorstep.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Always put your coat on before you answer your door.

That way, if you don't want the company you can say you were on your way out. If you do, you had just got in. :D

Good morning!

That doesn't work if you are in pjs and slippers.

Thank you so much, Lynne. Do you happen to know what antibiotic is working for this bug and this human combination? Too bad she is allergic to penicillin, but I understand penicillin sometimes doesn't get some bugs.

Nasty little thing.

Awe. Congratulations to the family and may the little one sleep through the night one of these days.

Nope. Miss Manners says it's impolite and visitors deserve what they get if they don't call first. Okay, maybe I added that last part, but what if you had a raging flu?

message 875: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Morning. Off to work time, see if anything's changed in the last 3 months!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Patti (baconater) wrote: "You could say you're going to Walmart."

We don't have Walmart. And I have disabled the doorbell.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Morning all, still coughing. Friday was that hectic I haven't looked at this weeks calendar, so no idea what I have on. Tons of housework.

Glad you have a lovely weekend Claire

message 878: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning all. 60 door wreaths to do - between six of us. See you on the other side.

message 879: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all. Slight chaos here in the North-East with half the Metro network off, and I slunk into work five minutes late.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. It's cloudy and moist in the valley this morning. Mixture of maths and english today, and I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks for the well wishes. I think the luckiest part of uncle-ing is the ability to give them back afterwards :-) (oh, and not have to deal with stinky nappies, or spit-up all over your shoulder most of the time).

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, lovely news Gaff, nice names too. Sore hands for Kath then. Foliage and holly is wicked on the paws. I can’t have a wreath due to the fact it’s too windy. The only one I had years ago made pendulum marks in the front door and then took off somewhere. He went on for ages about repainting the door so I got the message.
Can you PM me Alicia, I can’t send anything to you or friend you for some reason.
Have a good day all.
It’s dry here today

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Unexpected call-in at 8:15 this morning. Hate it when they do that. The vice principal knew last week the cover was needed. Grrr

So I spent the morning trying to sort out some semblance of planning for today, pulled a lesson out of the air and taught it, then spent the afternoon sorting out planning for the next two weeks. Yep, we've got another teacher out of country for medical leave.
Hoping she's back after Christmas. Teaching art to little ones is not my favourite.

And congrats, Gaff! I only thought it instead of writing it earlier.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Back to rain here, but the heating is working, so the office is a nice temperature

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good news, mum and any are going home. She’s nowhere near healed but wound management will change the dressings etc.

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Good idea Patti, I'll keep a coat by the door!

Lynne, wonderful news. x

Kath, have you survived your industrious day?

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments That's great news Lynne

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Well, finished my first shift back rattling around Newcastle in the back of an ambulance. I'd almost forgotten how much I love my job.

Glad to hear there's some good news Lynne, fingers crossed for them both.

message 893: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Survived - just! It's always a lovely atmosphere in the 900 year-old village church. I took along some CDs of carols and Christmas music and of course, we chatted muchly. Tired now, though. My legs and feet are aching. I expect to feel as stiff as an ironing board tomorrow.

message 894: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Just been woken by a neighbour as mine and next door's bins were on fire. Along with half a dozen others and a shed... not what I was expecting in the middle of the night! All out now but not sure if I'll get back to sleep again any time quick!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Morning all, got to go in slightly early to do some rushing around, not how I like to start the day, hoping colleague is less grumpy today.

That's not a good way to be woken up Claire, glad it wasn't too serious. Glad you had a good day Kath, hope you aren't too stiff

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, I’m a bit late but I’m going to cook my Christmas pudding. Fruits been wallowing in port and a dash of brandy for a couple of days so I’ve got no excuses. I want to make some ravioli as well while I’m in the mood. Can’t go anywhere once the pudding is steaming so I might as well cook while I have the chance. Dogs and man have gone walking, it’s dry at the moment but Iooks like rain to me. Have a good day all.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Clouds do indeed look ominous, Lynne.

We are off to aberaeron today to do family stuff for K, so I've been tied to the desk since too early this morning to catch up

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments Morning everyone.

Nice to hear good baby news on all fronts.

Starting to feel the festivity pressure and that's having decided to duck out of the whole Christmas cake and pudding thing - our visitors are coming for new year and they'll have already had theirs. Cards are bought - need to start writing them to avoid the usual week before rush (and first class postage!)

message 900: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Good news Lynne, glad to hear.

(I'm off work with flu and probably not well enough to be online either. Ssshh.)
