Morning everyone.Woke up to snow on the hills and so far have had rain, sleet and snow. Decided to postpone the supermarket run so its looking like bread and pullit for lunch.
This is for Lynne: the weather naturally hasn't stopped himself deciding we (that means me) need to fleece the bays immediately - he won't wonder out with his tablet, but he will feel the need to supervise...
Lindsay, I would say communication at your work sucks - not to put too fine a point on it. Have you someone you can address the all-important 'why?' to?
Easy travelling, Will and Jim!
Pleased to hear about the baby, Lynne - hopefully Mum will get a well-being boost from that - also your friend, Patti - and Kath's DIL hopefully being through the worst part. Will plain speaking sort out your unpleasant colleague, Desley? Some people are just not self-aware.
Glad that you can get a train today Jim. Had an amusing time at the docs - was having a flu jab and bloods, but the nurse was running late, so the practice manager offered to do bloods while waiting for the nurse, who turned up 5 mins later, so had both of them. Unfortunately they couldn't do them at the same time, but sped things up, and we had a laugh. Do keep forgetting that I've had a jab though and using my shoulder to push doors open!! Had a busy morning, and afternoon is more of the same, I get to finish 15 mins early as I have to take things to the post office. Well, the problem with my colleague Elizabeth is that he's frustrated with what is going on, and taking it out on me, but I did put him straight yesterday and told him I'm trying to help him, not make things worse. We have a communication problem in the company. Very impressed you have had snow. Glad DIL is up already Kath.
Happy National Gutter Day! (yes, really)Well done Claire, you'll storm the real thing I'm sure. I hope your DIL makes a speedy and relatively painless recovery, Kath. And best wishes to the baby & mum, Lynne.
Safe travelling to our wandering scribes en route to Derby. Not sure where it is, will go and look at a map!
Think it might snow here later. I had to scrape ice off my windscreen this morning..
Yay Claire!Enjoy the weekend Will n Jim!
Hope the men in your life don't get diaper rash on their heads, Kath!
If Dave ever had the temerity to suggest something required cleaning rather than lifting his arse and just getting on with it, it wouldn't bode well for him.
Lovely evening. Gonna make it an early night though.
Gotta get up early and make corn bread for the American thanksgiving feast that's happening tomorrow.
Hi All,Thank you so much for your support. I really appreciate at.
I hate to say this but i may need it again tomorrow. We are taking Dexter for his first haircut!
Congrats Claire! you are gonna smash it!
Glad your DiL is doing ok Kath
I knew a child photographer who reckoned you could get little ones to sit still by giving them a bit of selloptape. They'd pass it from hand to hand, fascinated by the stickiness. I reckon the same would work with a baby haircut.
Patti (baconater) wrote: "Or, an entire roll of duct tape...Oops.
Did I say that out loud?"
You know you did.
Well, we had sleet this afternoon. I'd like to say it was a shame but I was out and about so glad really! Cooked enchiladas for tea and now so drained I'm only fit for the sofa, the chaos that is the kitchen will have to wait. Treated myself to some alcoholic hot chocolate from M and S.
Beautiful blue sky but rather chilly!First batch of cornbread in the oven. It's not something you'd have at Canadian thanksgiving. Not in my family, anyway.
Morning, icy and frosty here this morning. The town's Christmas lights are being switched on later.Sunrise isn't till 8.09 today so would need to be a bit of a slugabed to miss that :)
Morning all, hoping to go back to bed, but slept well! We have white roofs, cars and bins, but fortunately none on the road. Looks like more to come so will do the food shopping first then tackle the housework. Want takeaway tarka dahl tonight, just depends on the weather.Wow, lights being switched on in November?? Ours are next Sat.
Morning all. Enjoyed watching the best boy in the world in his school play last night. He played Testiculo, a clown, and was overjoyed that he was allowed to say "fart" over and over. Our town lights are being switched on this afternoon too. Which will be fun, I suppose.
Everyone have a good one.
Morning all! Finally managing to make some progress with house-training the puppy, who still seems confused by the whole idea.
Patti, they decided they didn't need it in the end as I had one last year, but when I asked, the documents I had with me (passport, council tax letter, bills etc) would have been fine.
Went to watch the rugby with some friends last night, it was freezing and the Falcons (the local team) lost but had an enjoyable night afterwards. These friends have introduced me to gin... I'm actually a fan of it, wasn't sure I would like it as I don't much like the taste of alcohol but I did like some of the ones I tried last night!
Welcome to GAS (gin appreciation society) Claire! And good luck for Monday.Glad you managed to enlighten your colleague, Desley. Hopefully things will run more smoothly between the two of you at least.
And good morning everyone - it's nearly bacon sarni time...
How do, each? Missing the little lad. He's beyond cute alnd always smiling.Trying to do a bit of wrioting today - donw 125 words then realised I hadn't said good morning here. How rude of me!
Friends coming for dinner tonight so I'm cooking a half leg of lamb from the farm round the corner. Local Jacob's lamb. Drool...
Writing without my glasses on. Reminds me, I'm due for an eye test. Had a card to ring up for one. Sadly, didn't get one for a memory test, so I forgot.
Be careful what words you use for puppy house training. I used to say wee wee wee over and over when my old dogs performed. Then I moved to France and every time I said oui oui, i had to check my oh so obedient girlie hadn’t made a puddle. This new one has been so clean so quickly. Poor great niece is definitely having more surgery. Should have had it yesterday, but they cancelled . She’s got tissue specialists and plastic surgeon attending. Hope the clear it quickly this time.
Sorry to hear she needs moee surgery Lynne. Snow pretty much gone here, all leaving house errands done and got tarka dahl from supermarket. Just having lunch, then starting the housework

So sorry that your Gr.Niece is still not out of the woods Lynne - I hope this surgery will set her on the right path again. x

My command (well - more like ask politely) to Bronwyn is usually "do wee wees please" and she does.
Sorry to hear that your Gr.Niece needs further surgery Lynne. Hopefully this latest will set her on the right path for recovery.
Beautiful day so far - and everybody's crossed fingers did the trick yesterday...... they got the old leaky glass out and the bright shiny new glass all put in safely, without a drop of rain threatening. You can all uncross everything now!!
Thanks, Claire. From what I can find online, only an employer can request an advanced CBR check, so that's out of our hands anyway.I hope the surgery goes forth and sorts her out, Lynne.
I'm as stuffed as a stuffed thing. There was so much food!
It was either come home or fall asleep on their couch.
You’re so polite Flo. I stand in the garden shouting my orders. My old milkman said “If you can shout like that you don’t need a dog.” Thank you all for your concern with my family.
Well, feel really shocking again, not done nearly enough housework but pretty much done the voluntary work. Now lying on the sofa
Morning all, took ages to get to sleep last night, had a pounding headache. Woke up at 6.40 wondering what day it was, realised it was Sun but then got woke up at 7.35 by the foster kitten!! Tried to get back to sleep but gave up at 8.30. Currently feeling OK, although cold is lingering. Hopefully I can manage to do the housework, and treat myself to a bath. Thanks Lynne - my neighbour said it was the flu jab, but I don't normally have a reaction to it, so I suspect it was the cold I already had
I slept until 10am!Was awake all through the night, mind.
Crisp blue sky day here. Must go out soon for a wee shop.
We've no vegetables nor bread.
Must find the enthusiasm to dress.
Morning! All having a lie-in, are we?Off to see DiL this afternoon. Tomorrow the lads are coming back and will stay over at least one night. So lovely to get a good long go of the grandson.
Yes I dozed off for an hour when I had the bed to myself. I’ve just put the meat in slow cooking, OH gearing up to watch the last Grand Prix of the season, nice relaxed Sunday to all.
I've got a chicken roasting in the oven. The rotisserie chicken place over the road is undergoing renovations, so it's up to me to cook, dammit.I've also got cherry crumble almost ready to pop into the oven when the chicken is done.
Custard is done and is in the process of forming a nice skin.
Let's just say I had fun getting home from Derby and selling books!https://jandbvwebster.wordpress.com/2...
Did I say relaxing, forget that. He says Can we have lunch early? Nope. Slow cooked beef is slow. Not 15 minutes in the oven! Still if he sulks he’ll be quiet.
I had no lie-in, but no internet until now because a certain someone chewed through the cable...Hope you're all having a better sunday!

So if anyone is in Derby, come to the Quad and say hello. You'll get two for the price of one, as you might say
