Good grief.

I hope you showed him the toaster. Or the door.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Good thing I decided to plug my phone in to charge or I'd have missed seeing the text asking me to cover art with the little ones this week.
A proper phone call next time, please.

I've put my apron in my backpack.

Bet my pants will be glittery all week.

It is! We had to make an unplanned expedition to the retail park to replace it.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yeah, my thigh gap is exactly like that.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments nobodys thigh gap is like that. It's photoshopped in. Quite badly too.

Went wombling yesterday. Found nothing of note - just a little fragment of something medieval which I dropped and trod on in the kitchen afterwards, breaking it. Doh! However did have a reasonably good day with McMini. I was under strict instructions to keep any iron I dug up so he could melt it down and make iron man armour. We discovered that he needs more than one packed lunch, a harness to take some of the weight of the detector and some books to read so he can pop back to the car every now and again! He wants to come again though.

Was a busy week. Two of mum and dad's carers had a bereavement in the family - the mum's other half: daughter's dad, obviously. Poor things were in pieces. Will be a fair bit of admin sorting out cover etc.

And I wrote a blog post: http://www.mtmcguire.co.uk/dementia_3

Morning all

MTM

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Morning all, woke up to rain being hammered against the window. Two deadlines this morning. Bit snuffly this morning, got a sore thumb from where the foster cat hit me.

Sounds a fun day MT, commented on your blog post. Enjoy covering art Patti. Glad you got your internet sorted Benjamin, did you buy a cable protector too?

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Morning. I'm working up the energy to get ready for work. Only in for a couple of hours as it's our final exams before we are released into the wild next week! Can't wait to get it over with, but I'm not quite as nervous as for the mocks, knowing what to expect definitely helps!

If a cardboard box counts, then yes we did!

Morning all. Best of luck with the exams, Claire!

message 711: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. Son and little grandson on their way back for another couple of days - but Mum is doing very well. We saw her yesterday. So I'll catch you later...

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments It was a hole not a puddle! Dog bathed and blow dried, his trousers and socks washed and in the drier, his shoes hosed down and put to dry. You get the picture.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Got in the office to discover I also had a 9.30 meeting, wasn’t pleased about that!! Been a really hectic morning and realised I have more voluntary stuff to do this week than I realised.
Our heating is still broke, not too bad sat at my desk, but you really feel it when you get to the corridor. One of my workfriends mum’s kindly bought me some rock, as I had tried to find something she wanted for Halloween

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Quiet in here today!

I had a glitter free day.

Tomorrow, 7 year olds and clay...

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I've been out planting bulbs with 10 year olds. Got a chance to see the new extension at the school - very nice! I was amused to see that the TU (temporary unit) classroom that was put in place when my daughters attended the school was still there. They are now in their early twenties. Not so temporary then.

In other news, a ball point pen spilled its guts in my coat pocket. My hand is filthy and apparently the ink doesn't wash off. Trying oven cleaner next :)

message 716: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments All over with, wait and see now. Glad it's done!

We had portacabin classrooms like that at school Rosemary, they were designed for a couple of years and were 30 years old when we started. They replaced them just as my sister left 6 years later!

message 717: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments We had portacabins at the school in Nigeria. They finally took them down when they couldn't stop hiding the mould with paint.

Well done, Claire. I'm sure you rocked it!

Our old office was like that, we bought second hand portacabins from the council when we first started in the 70's, we only moved out of them in 2010! Every autumn we'd get someone to deal with any holes etc. Funnily enough we miss them! Our new office was that cold this afternoon my cough/cold is worse.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments My niece’s daughter had surgery on Saturday. Shes got to have more tomorrow. It’s really bad now that’s 4 ops in 4 weeks and baby is back on antibiotics. I’m so sorry for her.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Rather productive evening, arranged a home visit, produced 2 certificates and updated our register for Buy a Brick, wrapped my last 4 milk bottles and whipped up a Thai Green Curry for lunch. Think I'm going to chill with my game now

Oh no, do hope this finally fixes everything, such an ordeal at what should be a happy time

Paracetamol and couch day in store.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yeah, I put my face on, was dressed and just about to put on my shoes when I realised I just couldn't today.

I was looking forward to getting mucky with the munchkins. :(

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I remember one day when I had walked half way to the station when I realised I just couldn't do it....

Poor little munchkins will miss you too.

The munchkins have probably had them already :-)

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all, hope you feel better soon Patti.
Neighbour's elderly dog has been out in their garden, in the dark, for the past half hour. Not sure what they named it, but we call it the yappy little fucker.

Today's tasks include shopping for a poison dart gun.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Morning all, had a shocking night sleep, half tempted to ring in sick, especially as it is 1 and we have no heating at work. Luckily I only have a boring admin day.

Hope you feel better soon Patti. Oh dear Rosemary, I can sympathise!

message 731: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Morning all.

Commiserations, Rosemary. I know exactly what you mean about the little yappers. What they lack in size they make up for in decibels. It's the same with men, I'm told. Best of luck finding a poison dart gun.

message 732: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning! Hope you both feel better, Patti and Desley.

Today I have a work AGM, which wouldn't be so bad if they didn't hold it after the end of the normal working day. I expect to be home about 9pm...

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, try throwing sticky toffee over the fence Rosie, might keep the little beggar quiet five minutes. My neighbours have moved and the new ones have a lovely old Labrador. It’s amazing how much noise has gone, 6 barky dogs, 3 kids and a 23 door car. Heaven,
Hope everyone feels better soon.

message 734: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning, each. Grandsons are noisy and messy - what a good thing they're gorgeous. They're off to see Mum after an early lunch then back home. See Gran collapse!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Hopefully my daughter will be back to work soon, that’s a mixed blessing as I shall be in the same boat Kath. Up at 5.30 and in charge of a three year old till the afternoon. I have really enjoyed no Twirly Woos, CBBC, cars underfoot etc but I have missed him.
I haven’t fallen asleep in the afternoons either.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I've peremptorily called in sick for tomorrow.

I could have done with an afternoon nap but hasn't happened.

message 737: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. Hope you soon buck up, Patti.

The lads have gone again, via the hospital, so husband will have done the round trip twice in the last two days. He'll arrive back just as it's getting dark and collapse at my feet, ready to be stuffed with dinner and plied with cups of tea! We're too old for this caper! Jim was over 40 when he had The Boy so we feel like great grandparents by comparison!

Meanwhile, I'm logging off for a damned good read. Two of the books I said I'd read through for people have come in this week so I need to get a wiggle on with the one I've not quite finished!

If it's any consolation, I do my return online and am eternally fucked off with the fact I have to fill in a gargantuan fifteen page form instead of the four page short form I'm allowed to use on paper. Definitely shot myself in the foot with that one.

Cheers
