I had the same feelings about Soon by Lois Murphy. Brilliantly written and engaging literary fiction, however, felt let down by the ending.

SPELL-IT-OUT1/6
Finished my first, and am really at a loss to describe this book, too bizarre : an alternate universe populated by psychotic clowns in which a normal man finds himself. I liked the writing, but I couldn't get out of this depressing place fast enough!

Enjoyed your review...! I am hesitant reading SF....short stories may be the way to approach this genre for me.
Finished
by Laurie Lico Albanese a four star book, over time it might even 'star up' we'll seeReview; https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Hmm depending on how fast you read Nancy, I am not sure that short stories would be. It's just that short stories tend to be very situational and if you are less about the 'science' and more about the 'fiction', or the human side of it short sci-fi stories can be a bit of a blur. Out of that collection, (which are all pretty old stories) based on the books we have in common, I would say that you would definitely enjoy 'The Belonging Kind' then maybe you could try 'The Winter Market' and if you like that you will probably end up enjoying Gibson.
That said, I would probably just recommend you start with one of his more recent novels
or
perhaps.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give me some recommendations! I will look into the books you mentioned. At the moment only Ursula Le Guin appleals to me. I've heard very good things about Farhenheit 451...so as classic and SF I really should try it. Have you read Le Guin of Bradbury?

2/7SCORPIO:
O - Silk Road by Eileen Ormsby
Finished: 10 November 2017
Title: Silk Road
Genre: non-fiction
Score: C
Review: This was a quick read....but a real eye-opener! It tells the true story of Ross Ulbricht. He was the founder of notorious online drug market place Silk Road which rapidly grew to become the internet’s hidden one-stop-shop for all things illegal. The author fills in several chapters with stories about several bumbling traders who grew into slick professional business forces. Ultimate bad-boy and scam artist was not Ross Ulbricht -- aka Dread Pirate Roberts (DPR) -- but Tony76!
If you feel like reading something different....try this book about “the internet’s Pablo Escobar”

2/4 tasks completed this weekend:2) Read a book from a series you have started but not finished.
A Very Russian Christmas by Roxie Rivera 3★
3) Read a book you bought but have not got round to reading yet.
Isla's Inheritance by Cassandra Page Australian author 4★
Looks like many of you are progressing very nicely for this month! Finally finished my first for this month's challenge - task #4: the book with the oldest publication date on your shelf - The Glass Virgin by Catherine Cookson. A rather fascinating, (if not a little long-winded at times), read - worthy of 4 stars.
Finished 2 for this challenge so far..On TBR longest = Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult I'm a fan of Picoult & this one is an easy 3-3.5★.
Book bought but not read = Alice by Christina Henry. This dark twist on Alice's adventures in wonderland is an easy read although not for the faint hearted. 3★
I have finished 2 books toward by Medium Level challenge(although neither of these is the book I started first - still working on that one)
1st "E" in ELEVEN - Edwardson, Debby Dahl - My Name is Not Easy | 2017-Nov-08 ★★★★
2nd "E" in ELEVEN Emily Rodda - Rowan and the Travelers | 2017-Nov-12 AA ★★★★
Sorry for the terrible formatting: I spilt coffee on my laptop and the keyboard has become a bit temperamental! Spaces have become an endangered species. I can update a little off my phone (as I am now) but as we all know the app is terrible so please bear with me!
Finished my 7th - "P" of CUP DAY - Private Games: by James Patterson 4★s

3/4 done - feeling good about this month! From a series I've started but not finished:
Maybe by Morris Gleitzman. I am in love with this whole series - or family as Gleitzman calls it. It is such a simple telling of complex, horrific events without diminishing their significance. 4 ★ for this episode
Finished the I out of Swift, with
by Gayle FormanQuite a lovely little book. Had not been on my shelf but I had ordered it in from the library when this challenge began.... That counts, doesn't it....?
Review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I've had to tweak my list a little as I'm not able to get The Hunchback of Notre-Dame (oldest publication date on my TBR) from the local library as I'd hoped. I've moved on to the 2nd oldest, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott instead...
Finished my 8th - 'E' of CRICKET - One More Song by Nicki Edwards 5★s

3rd read done ... 3) Read a book you bought but have not got round to reading yet.
The only reason I bought/read this book was in preparation for Christmas at Carrington's. Fingers crossed, the Carrington's series only gets better.
