This honestly sounds a little stressfull, make sure that it doesn't take away your reading pleasure! ;)

Well that sounds good enough XD

Angela Jr. | 1126 comments I don't mean to put it down - it's an awesome book, just not absolutely-over-the-top amazing 🤗

message 456: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8703 comments I suppose we have to come to terms with the fact that not everything we read can be absolutely-over-the-top amazing! 😅 But can still be really good and enjoyable!
Glad you're liking it :)

My problem with challenges, is they're easy to start and hard to finish... I've been 24/25 of the FBR Bingo challenge for most of the year because I haven't read a book published by someone under 25... at the beginning of a challenge anything you read can be easily fit into the challenge... towards the end you have to start reading books because they meet criteria you need...

Your new profile picture is so confusing! I tend to look at the picture first and sometimes don't even bother to read the name... yesterday I started reading two of your reviews before I realised you wrote them and I've already read them :D While reading the one on Malice I even thought 'Oh, this sounds like the one Mayim wrote'

message 460: by Mayim (new)

Mayim de Vries | 2948 comments Apologies for the confusion! That is the new me. I was looking for a new visage corresponding to my new respectable pregnant persona. :D It is actually a picture of me commissioned by Mr de Vries. :D

Yes! Also I get bored sometimes... In the beginning it's exciting and easy to find something and then after a while I don't really care anymore. Still, it's different with the team challenge because it includes interaction with others.

And I'm shocked Virginie hadn't suggested you a book published by someone under 25 :D

There were buddy-read for 2 books meeting the criteria in August ;)
The positive point is that you are 'forced' to read books you may not have considered otherwise!

I've been winding down on monthly BRs... only reason my numbers are still so high are the weekly and bingey BRs... which books are you guys talking about?

message 470: by Virginie (new)

Virginie | 6109 comments I got Bea to agree to a BR of The Poppy War to complete the author under 25 for the Bingo challenge. And then I steadily recruited more people for it, going to Bingo challenge threads and throwing the BR at them xD

There's also Children of Blood and Bone which I used for my first round of the Bingo challenge (and finished only for this reason). It got 5 stars from a few people from the group though.

I see one of them is Poppy War, a book I wanted to read but never had time for, it's been on my radar for a few months now with people reading it in several of my groups, I think...

Edit: luckily, it's already scheduled for ANOTHER BR in November, I'll just read it then...

I have 3 BRs lined up this month. That is a new low. :D

message 473: by Timelord Iain, Tech Support (new)

Timelord Iain | 35603 comments Mod
I've managed to do 20-30 BRs each month of the year, so far, even when I only schedule 10-15 ahead of time... things just crop up... but now I'm trying to clear the new releases I've missed and take another pass on my Incomplete Series challenge thread (which needs updating and reformatting, I think)

message 474: by Mayim (new)

Mayim de Vries | 2948 comments Well, I am up to 15 open series. And that does not include the up to date ones. I am sure my reading load will be steadily decreasing in the coming months though.

2-3 BRs a month is how I roll now and I'm feeling much happier and less stressed. I've definitely confirmed for myself that I'm too much of a mood reader to be happy constrained by too many scheduled books.

message 482: by [deleted user] (new)
