I just finished The Wretched of Muirwood today and it was a FANTASTIC book. I was planning on reading the next book in the trilogy after the first of the year for the year long challenge, but I think I'm going to go ahead and start The Blight of Muirwood today. I'll still be able to read the last book after the new year... unless I speed through Blight and finish faster than I intend. I'm listening to them on audio so that usually takes me a little longer.

I swapped out Feed and started reading Just One Damned Thing After Another. It will be perfect for the monthly challenge.

Finished Oscar Wilde and a Death of No Importance: A Mystery. Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished The Waiting Room which I gave 4 stars. I am now starting My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories because it sounds perfect for the festive season.
I finished Ida B. . . and Her Plans to Maximize Fun, Avoid Disaster, and (Possibly) Save the World. It was a cute, feel good story and I enjoyed it very much. I finished The Illustrated Man for the group read. The stories have generated a lot of discussion - all great comments. I also finished In a Sunburned Country for my AtW challenge. This was my last book set in Australia for the year. I started off planning to read only 12 books @ 1 a month, but actually ended up 18. I will continue with this next year, with some series books I found. My last reads for the year will be to finish Hollow City followed by The Gargoyle.
Lilisa wrote: "Finished Oscar Wilde and a Death of No Importance: A Mystery. Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show..."another series to add.....☺
Finished Exodus and now I'm starting my final book for the year, Killing Floor. Once I finish it, I'll be done with another Chunkster section. Gotta read.
Hop to it, Roz! Killing Floor is doable by the end of the year.I finished The Illustrated Man last night. Tonight, I start Bones Are Forever. It finishes my Cross Canada Tour and thus, my left over stew challenge. It may be my final read for 2014. We shall see.
I checked out I Am Number Four from the Library last night to supplement me while reading the short stories in The Illustrated Man, and get me through until January, where I can begin the 2015 Series challenge. I found it while going through a list on Listopia, which I hadn't really done before, as it was one of the few titles ready to download that night. I remember seeing the movie, and thinking...that could have been better, which normally signifies a botched adaption, so I'm anxious to see if the original material is better.
Lynda wrote: "I checked out I Am Number Four from the Library last night to supplement me while reading the short stories in The Illustrated Man, and get me through until January, whe..."Is this book you linked a screen play for the movie based on I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore? If this movie is about kids from the planet Lorien fighting other aliens in the US, then, I thought the movie was okay. I have read most of the books and some of the Lost Files. When I started reading the books, it was very confusing trying to figure out the Lost Files vs the books because many of them are the same names as the books.
Finally and thankfully finished Wuthering Heights tonight! Going to pick up Delusion in Death next. I feel like a good murder/mystery is in order!
Cherie wrote: " If this movie is about kids from the planet Lorien fighting other aliens in the US, then, I thought the movie was okay. "Yes, that's the book I meant...I'll edit the link.
As I've been reading the book, nothing is like the movie, so now I'm wondering if I've seen movie after all.
Thanks Ruskala for welcoming me back and everyone else, too!Started A Christmas Promisetoday - not finished with the Christmas feeling. I love Christmas - family, food, church. I knitted everyone a throw this year.
Happy New Year!
At the moment I'm reading The Sweetness of Forgetting for an author-reader discussion and Lies We Tell Ourselves, a YA historical fiction. So far both are good, but nothing impressive. The last two books I finished were Wuthering Heights for the monthly read and A Christmas Carol, that made a beautiful holiday read.
I finished My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories which was a nice festive read. Some of the stories were better than others but there wasn't one that I can say I really disliked so I gave it 4 stars overall.I am now going to start A Meal in Winter.
I just finished The Boston Girl which I really enjoyed. Next is The Slow Regard of Silent Things, which I got for christmas and am really looking forward to!
I've been off the book radar for the past couple of days. Hoping to dive back into the book I am reading, Delusion in Death by JD Robb. I have read the first chapter and it is really good so far :)
Gavin wrote: "I'm reading Lord of the Flies"I read it a couple of months ago Gavin. I enjoyed its idea but found it VERY disturbing.
Rishabh wrote: "I am reading The Hanged Man . and it i is not inspiring me"Hi Rishabh! Welcome to our group. I hope the book gets better for you. Who is the author? I went to look it up and find that several books have that title.
If you are on the full website, could you link your book using the "add book/author" option?
I had a wonderful trip home today in the company of Royce and Hadrian. I started The Crown Tower at the start of my trip today. Last night, I started reading The Devil's Star on ebook. I feel kind of decadent starting a book that will help me achieve my first level of the 2015 series challenge. Because the Harry Hole series is 10 books, I don't need the individual book points, so it's no sacrifice to not be able to get 5 points for this book.
Both books are reacquainting me with favourite series and authors.
Janice, do you think it would be better to start with the Chronicles instead of the Revelations? I'm looking to get into the series but am not sure which I should start.
I would recommend starting with the Revelations. That's the publication order. The Chronicles is a prequel series. With Revelations, you get the quest. With Chronicles, you get background stories that do not have spoilers. They are finite stories that reveal more about Royce and Hadrian.
I just finished The Gargoyle, which I said would probably be my last book of the year. It was a great story and totally not what I thought it would be. I love it when that happens!
I finished The Crown Tower and loved it! Hammered is next on my list. I'd better download it so I can start it tomorrow.
I finished #5 in the Cape Light series, A Christmas Promise by the painter, Thomas Kinkade. I love the series! It's like Cedar Cove with an inspiration bent to it - not heavy, just right.I am finally starting Cop Town =)
Anne (Booklady) wrote: "I finished #5 in the Cape Light series, A Christmas Promise by the painter, Thomas Kinkade. I love the series! Hi - yes, he wrote with a partner, Katherine Spencer and did the Cover Art too. The team writes beautifully. He'd paint the cover first, then come up with plot. He was amazing in his creativity.
Things are simmering down, now. Unpacked - mostly, family drama when Dad got sick.

Interesting - Will have to check them out. Good to the almost unpacked and hope your dad is doing better.
Interesting! Yet another book added to my tbr list.I think I really need to get in and prioritize my reading list. But how!?
LOL! I have the same problem TJ. I know exactly one book I am going to start 2015 with. After that, it is a toss up that I can't decide on exactly. I have too many choices. I may have to let the fruit machine make them for me.
If my library hold comes in today, I will start with The Gods of Guilt. If not I will start with Divine Justice.
I finished A Meal in Winter which was really good. I read it in one sitting as it's a very short book but one that manages to punch well above its weight. It is such a well written, thought provoking little novella and one that I highly recommend. I gave it 4 stars but my actual rating is 4.5.Next up will be The Orange Girl which will probably be the last book that I read in 2014.
Pragya wrote: "If all goes well, I will join you, Janice."Sounds good. We can do a buddy read if it doesn't win the poll for January group read. Others may want to join in to count it for either the group read theme, the January challenge, or both (like me).
ETA - I just checked the poll and it landed in second place, so will be one of the group reads for the month. No need to set up a buddy read.
