I loved Caleb's Crossing. Brooks is a favorite author of mine.

Haven't read that one Pragya. It's on the list though. When she is on the money, she's a brilliant writer.
Janice wrote: "Michael wrote: "Currently reading The Goblin Emperor which I'm enjoying as well." That book is currently being offered as a giveaway. Woot!"Yep...I should have mentioned that as well. There are a lot of good giveaways right now because of the Goodreads Choice Award. I've noticed a good number of the nominees have giveaways running. Here are some that caught my attention:
* Words of Radiance (The Stormlight Archive, #2) by Brandon Sanderson
* Orn (Of Man and Manta, #2) by Piers Anthony
* The Broken Eye by Brent Weeks
* Half the World (Shattered Sea, #2)by Joe Abercrombie
* Uprooted by Naomi Novik
* Fantasy For Good: A Charitable Anthology by multiple authors
* The Whispering Swarm (Sanctuary of the White Friars, #1) by Michael Moorcock
* The Emperor's Blades (Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne, #1) by Brian Staveley
* The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison
I also have a giveaway for my 2014 Choice Award Nominee but didn't want to list it because of the no promotion policy.

This is my review. www.goodreads.com/review/show/1106364129"I added her book Housekeeping to my TBR list. It looks more appealing to me than the series you posted about. I visited the place she was born a few months ago and her name appeals to me. My mother's name is Marilyn and my name is her last. I am not sure I can make a connection with her spiritual side though. :)

That one sounds interesting Cherie and look forward to your thoughts when you read it.
I finished Revival. I enjoyed it for the most part. I'll rate it at 3.75 stars. I'm excited to get back to the world of Matthew Corbett with Mister Slaughter, starting tomorrow.
I'm reading Mrs. Dalloway. My first Virginia Woolf; in preparation for The Hours (which I'll be reading next), you could say.
I just finished The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry. I loved this book. It was a very quick read for me. I could have read it faster but I wanted to savor it and didn't want it to end.(view spoiler)

You and me both, Stephanie, including your spoiler!
Gavin wrote: "I'm reading Mrs. Dalloway. My first Virginia Woolf; in preparation for The Hours (which I'll be reading next), you could say."The Hours. This does look good, Gavin.
I might have to finally get around to reading Mrs. D. too. I have put it off for a long time. How do you like it?
Gavin wrote: "I'm reading Mrs. Dalloway. My first Virginia Woolf; in preparation for The Hours (which I'll be reading next), you could say."I read To the Lighthouse last year and found it excellent.
I finished all of my challenge books and group read books for the month, so I will start The Wise Man's Fear and maybe The Slow Regard of Silent Things. The audio book I started listening to, The Tortilla Curtain isn't floating my boat yet. I might send it back to the Overdrive library tonight.

I quite like it so far. At first it's kinda strange how the narrative just flows through the different character's perspectives without much warning, but it grew on me as I continued reading.
I'm reading Mister Slaughter because it's next on my to-listen-to shelf. I'm thinking for 2015, I should adopt that first in, first out strategy with my to-read list. It would knock off some books I've got that are not only growing dust but mold.I've also started Avatar Anatomy ~ A Soul's Journey into the Body. It's written by a local woman (wish I'd known that when Rusalka had the challenge to read a local author). I don't know Angela, but I know her sister and we have friends in common. In fact, one of my friends really thought I should read it so
@ Cherie, Gavin & Sandra...I read The Hours some years ago with a local book group. Most really liked it, including me, but some found it too dark.
I've read and liked Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway and A Room of One's Own.
I'd like to read To the Lighthouse and Orlando.
some books I've got that are not only growing dust but mold.Janice, I hear ya! I did that this year. I had some books still on my shelf from 2010. A goal this year was to read them all to get them off. I read most of them and have 2 more to go. If I don't get to them, I'm taking them off the tbr. It's not meant to be (at least for now) at that point. :)

I think I have some that are older than 2010. I'm going to make a new exclusive shelf "owned but likely won't read" to get those that I'm sure I'll never read off the tbr list. It will be like my abandoned list... except they're being abandoned before even starting. LOL!
Just finished Revival for a buddy read. And from one King (and buddy read) to the next with The Drawing of the Three.
Peggy wrote: "I finished book/part 1 of Rise of Empire. Fun!"too many series, so little time. Glad you liked it!
Janice wrote: "Thanks for posting that list, Michael. I've entered them all including, Hollow World."Nice - Good luck on the drawings!

Me too ;-)
I just finished reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? 1 for another book club here on goodreads. It was short and re-read for me. I think I enjoyed it more this time around than when I read it oh so many years ago. I also watched Blade Runner just to see the differences between the two, and found what was chosen to be included and what wasn't was quite interesting. As with most works, I enjoyed the book more than the movie.
Michael wrote: "I just finished reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? 1 for another book club here on goodreads. It was short and re-read for me. I thought I'd watched Blade Runner in the past but after reading the book I realised I didn't recall any of it. I think I'm due another watching! I agree about the things included and excluded in films - The Running Man is another one where there are some interesting changes.
Sarah wrote: "I agree about the things included and excluded in films - The Running Man is another one where there are some interesting changes. "Good to know. I saw the movie - back when it was originally released, but I don't recall having ever read the book.
I finished The Candy Smash by Jacqueline Davies. This is the fourth book in The Lemonade War Series that I'm reading with my fourth grader. Here is my review for whom may be interested. I'm almost done with Pride and Prejudice. What a great book!
I'll be shortly reading Two Sisters and The Sweetness of Forgetting. I received both to participate in two author-reader discussions in another group next month.
I finally finished The Twelve Caesars for the 'Fact Not Fiction' monthly challenge. I learnt some interesting things from it but I found it quite dry and slow going at times so I gave it 3 stars overall.
I finished rereading Darkfever Friday night and started on the second book in the Fever series, Bloodfever. I've been kind of "emotional" lately and sort of wanted a sad book to read... so I started a re-read of Me Before You. That may be a mistake to read it when I'm as emotional as I have been the last few days because when I read it for the first time earlier this year, it had me literally sobbing into my pillow.
And that is a big deal for me.... books might make me tear up a little bit, but not full out cry. Me Before You had me absolutely ugly-crying and sobbing uncontrollably... I scared my dogs! It shouldn't hit me so hard this time though. At least in theory it shouldn't. I mean, I know what's coming so I'm prepared for it this time.
Oh, who am I kidding! I feel a lump in my throat just from thinking about this book! I'm not sure why I'm doing this to myself, I just loved this book so much!
I finished Blackout today. I'm going to hold off reading the second in the series (but I really must if I want to know if the stranded time travelers get back okay). I have to borrow it from the library (no kindle version available) an I don't know when I'm going to be able o get there. I downloaded Mariana instead and then I plan on reading The Monkey's Raincoat. At least that's the plan.
Lol, KimeyDiann! You are going to sob! Now you "know" the characters and already love them, so it's going to be even worse. I loved that book too.
I'm currently reading Accidents of Marriage and not loving it. The characters are just not people I would like. So far, it's not what I expected at all & it's a bit slow. Also, I just finished a book with a similar topic in it, but it was done so much better. However, the direction this book took is so different than the last one I read that I can't really compare them.
Finished The Long Way Home - love Louise Penny's series. Review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I just added the first book in the series to my TBR shelf :)I am finding a lot of books through this feed to add and I am trying to dwindle it down by rewarding them :) I guess adding more is a good problem to have, right?

Hope you enjoy it - I started in the middle of the series - should have started at #1! P.S. Just realized you may not be referring to Louise Penny's series!
That is the series I was referring to :) I'm on the mobile app so it doesn't let me do a reply :( I'm looking forward to the series :)
Stephanie wrote: "That is the series I was referring to :) I'm on the mobile app so it doesn't let me do a reply :( I'm looking forward to the series :)"Great :-)
I finished the book my friend lent me. Tonight, I start the next in the Merrily Watkins series, A Crown of Lights for a buddy read.
Started A Crown of Lights last night on my kindle app. I finished Mister Slaughter - really loving this series! I'll start Ordinary Grace this morning on audiobook while I drive to my client's to work.
I finished The Drawing of the Three for a buddy read. Now I can turn my attention back to Swan Song my chunkster and read some smaller books as well. Just started Mitosis which will be over in a flash with just 35 pages!
