Jenny, here's what I found on page 288:

#6 seed - a small grain from which a plant grows
#10 seep - a liquid flowing slowly or leaking through
#22 selfishness - pettiness; being small-minded

Do any of those words suggest a book to you?

I read Revived, on 9/12 which I think works for all three words.
Travis quit MMA fighting when his girlfriend died a few years back. Julia gives him the encouragement he needs to get back in the ring, and this is a turning point in the story. A fighting exhibition is enacted and Travis has to emulate the other skilled fighters.

All three words. Way to go, Kari!

Here are your new definitions:
#2 sick - not feeling well
#11 signature - 1) a name written in ink, in cursive, as an endorsement to an agreement 2) the printed sheet so marked as to leave an imprint
#20 silicon - a nonmetallic substance element, very abundant in nature

sick seems like it would be easy to find a book for.

Thanks Lanelle! I think "sick" might be the better option. Does it need to be someone that's physically sick or could it be someone that's mentally sick? It doesn't really specify, what do you think?

It is if you end up with an odd definition :)

Your words from page 359 are:
#11 wrap - 1) a removable covering 2) to cover with a substance usually to protect something; to enclose
#13 wreak - to produce rage; to perpetuate; to inflict
#19 wrestle - to struggle hand to hand; to grapple

Do any of those definitions remind you of a book?

I finished my book for longing - an eager desire. I've been wanting to read Thrice Burned, but haven't been able to fit it into any challenges I was working on.

JoAnne has already picked out these numbers for me:
p. 150
# 7, 14 and 23

#7 hearth - a fireplace or fireside
#14 heavier - more weight
#23 heir - one who inherits, or has the right to inherit, property after the death of its owner

I think I'll read Lord Iverbrook's Heir.

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 1078 comments My words

#6 seed - a small grain from which a plant grows
#10 seep - a liquid flowing slowly or leaking through
#22 selfishness - pettiness; being small-minded

I read You're Loved No Matter What Freeing Your Heart from the Need to Be Perfect by Holley Gerth . The author plants a seed in your mind that you don't need to be perfect in this life. The need to be perfect creates anxiety, depression, and other dangerous emotions that can seep into your life and make your life less enjoyable. Selfishness can lead to more anxiety as well.

Barbara, your new definitions are:

#8 smother - to hide or suppress; to suffocate
#11 snack - 1) food eaten between meals 2) to eat when you are hungry
#19 sneer - smile or speak in a contemptuous or mocking manner

I'm trying to remember a mystery book I read recently where the victim was smothered. I may have to go back through my bookshelf here on Goodreads to find it.

I chose #2 sick and read Night of the Tiger on 9/15. Aimee gets sick when she sees several dead bodies, in chapter 13: “She glanced toward the back deck and saw three carcasses littered across the ground like garbage. #15 cattle - livestock such as cows, bulls, or steer kept for meat, milk, or skins
#25 cavern - a hollow place in a rock; a cave

Me too but sometimes it happens in a book I'm reading especially one that I'm reviewing for one of my review sites.

Interesting words - may and meager are interesting choices

message 526: by Agnieszka (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 2039 comments #7 please - 1) to afford or give pleasure 2) to be willing; like; choose
#14 pluck - 1) take hold of (something) and quickly remove it from its place; pick / 2) spirited and determined courage => The Rookie by Kara Stalnaker or Drop Out by Neil D. Ostroff both are 9/11 stories about firefighters
#23 poetry - literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm; poems collectively or as a genre of literature

I sticked with the original definition (#14.2) but read the last two day a different book that fit perfectly: Once Upon a Prince by Rachel Hauck by Rachel Hauck Susanna & Nate felt in love with each other before she learned he's a prince and according to the rules of his home country not allowed to marry a foreigner. For the well-being of the country they decided not to act on their feelings. There's pretty much other stuff playing into this situation and I don't want to spoil it any more than necessary :-)

#18 sneak - 1) a cheater; a rascal 2) to creep; to slink
#25 snout - the part of an animal's head projecting forward containing the nose and jaw

For snout my first thought was a dog - on cover or vital to the story and there the first two books that immediately appeared were: Unleashed (Sydney Rye, #1) by Emily Kimelman (actually the enitre series would fit) & A Place to Call Home Toby's Tale by G.A. Whitmore
