Task 30.2 Modern and Contemporary Art
A two book task. Read one book from each option.

BOOK 1
Read a book that was published between 1890-1939 whose author's initials can be found in one of these words/phrases: Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Bauhaus.

I chose Art Deco as my phrase and chose CARDS ON THE TABLE, a classic mystery originally published in 1936 and written by Agatha Christie whose initials are A. C.

Cards on the Table

BOOK 2
Read a book first published from 1970 to the present whose authors initials can be found in the phrase Contemporary Art or Post Modern Art.

I chose Post Modern Art as my phrase and chose GHOST STORY, a classic tale of horror, first published in 1979 by Peter Straub whose initials are P S.

Ghost Story

CARDS ON THE TABLE was written before 1950 so I am claiming 1 Golden Oldies Tticket for the book.

In addition, GHOST STOEY has a total of 567 pages and I am claiming 1 Big Book Ticket for this book.

50.1 - Bryony's Task: Let's Start at the Very Beginning

1. Let's start at the very beginning... The first Seasonal Reading Challenge in this stand-alone group took place in Fall 2009. For this task, read a book that fulfils the requirements of a 5 or 10 point task from that challenge.

Fall 2009 Task 10.10 - This Task Is The Cat's Meow - read a book that...has a picture of a cat(s) on the cover.

Faux Paw (A Magical Cats Mystery, #7) by Sofie Kelly (336pg)

2. It's a very good place to start... Read a book that is a) set within 200 miles of the place you were born or b) written by a single author born within 200 miles of the place you were born.

Ashes of the Elements (Hawkenlye Mysteries, #2) by Alys Clare (416pg)
I was born in Hampstead, London, and the Author was born in Cambridge (http://severnhouse.com/author/Alys+Cl...), a straight-line distance of 46.71 miles. In addition, >90% of the book takes place in Kent, and the whole of Kent easily falls within 200 miles of London, with the fictional Hawkenlye Abbey located on the edge of the real Wealden Forest, which is 57.92 miles from Hampstead as the crow flies.

3. When you read you begin with A, B, C, when you sing you begin with do, re, mi... SO - a needle pulling thread: Since "a stitch in time saves nine", read a historical fiction novel.

A Moorland Hanging (Knights Templar, #3) by Michael Jecks (384pg)
