London smiled happily, a little more hopeful, and strained on her baby wings to get higher. It was becoming easier, slowly, as she got used to how the air moved through her wings. Torch smiled and squeezed her hand. "Not babies any more I'm afraid." He said softly.
Lexi grimaced briefly and then nodded, turning her face closer to his hand. "Yeah." She whispered, hoping she was really ok.
James kept a hold on her and smiled encouragingly, he wondered if feathers were harder than his leathery ones. "Yay! London look how high you are!"Mae smiled and nodded, where had the time gone? She slowly took flight with Torch watching over her kids.
The doctor smiled "almost done Lexi, just one more thing" she had a portable monitor set up on the bed and inserted the wand moving it around till she got the picture she wanted "there's the bump"
London beamed and spread her wings further as she grew confident, which made it easier for her to just ride the wind. "We can fly!" She giggled. Torch's wing beats were slow and steady compared to the fluttering of his kids, but it just made them all the more adorable. He hugged Mae gently.
Lexi stared at the monitor in confusion. It looked like... she paled. "That's a..." She stammered. She wasn't sure if she should be excited or frightened.
James did a somersault in the air and laughed at how fun it was "dad, did you see that? Did you see me?" Mae instantly panicked but she was a worrier and he was still flying and she let out a breath of relief.
Damon blinked pretty astounded himself, he could see the silhouette perfectly and the doctor moved the wand inside her to show the different sides "that's your baby..."
Torch laughed and swooped up beside him. "Yes I did. You're a talented young man." He praised. London looked up hopefully. "Me too Daddy?" She asked.
Torch nodded and kissed her forehead. "Yes of course."
Lexi's mouth fell open slightly. Another baby!? What if it was like the last one? What if.... Lexi's hands grew clammy and she tried not to stress. "My baby..." She repeated softly. How could she even be pregnant? Had she forgotten a time Damon and her had slept together after Demetri? She didn't think she would forget...But now that was a growing possibility.
Mae smiled "come on you talented children of mine we are almost home!" She swooped by London and smiled "I think you'll like home sweety..."James did a backflip now and laughed "dad you should do a trick!"
Damon ran a hand through his hair slightly stressing, worried about last time "is it growing too quickly?" He asked the doctor.
The doctor shook her head "she is growing at the normal rate of an immortal I think you'll be safe to have this baby."
London looked up at her mother. "I can't wait!" She said enthusiastically. "I love you." She added, hugging her mother's arm. Torch laughed and flipped over, flying on his back. "Does this count?"
Lexi sighed in relief, relaxing considerably. She managed a small smile then, looking at the child on the screen a little more hopefully. "She?" She asked. The doctor said she. Was the baby a girl? Was Demetri getting a little sister?
Mae smiled and held onto London close "I love you so much...taking you to heaven was the hardest thing I have ever done...I've missed my little girl."James grinned excited "teach me that dad!"
The doctor nodded and smiled moving the wand to show the sex "it's definitely a girl..." She pushed a button on the monitor and you could hear a whooshing sound "that's the heart beat..."
Damon was in tears at this point, he was getting a little girl and hearing her heartbeat turned him into an emotional sap. He kissed Lexi "I love you..."
London smiled and nuzzled her face against her mother as she hugged her as best as she could with her little arms. "I missed you too Mom."Torch laughed, flipping over again. "Maybe when you're a little older." He said, ruffling his son's hair.
Lexi bit her lip, staring at the girl and listening to the sound of her heartbeat. She smiled happily at Damon, holding his hand. She loved how happy the child made him. She was happy because he was. "Love you too." She whispered.
Mae stroke her hair and landed softly waiting for the boys, she rolled her eyes at how childish Torch was acting but that's why she loved him. "Come on you slow pokes!"James grinned and landed on the grass not so gracefully, he laughed at the grass stains on his jeans "cool!"
The doctor printed out pictures for them and took out the wand and put away her things "alright you can get dressed Lexi, I want to see you again before she's due to make sure things are still going well."
Torch laughed, gliding down and landing at a running stop, scooping up James and lifting him to his shoulder as he did. "Alright. We've been flying all night. Who wants breakfast?" He asked, walking into the house. Lexi sat up and nodded. "Alright." She agreed. "I'll have Damon call you before then." She assured, breathing a little easier now. "When do you think she will be due?"
Mae smiled and headed to the kitchen to make some pancakes and eggs "go put your things away guys!" James took London's hand and rushed her upstairs to their room, one side was navy blue and the other a light blue with tiny polka dots. James grinned "that's your bed and we share the dresser! The toy box has like dolls and girly stuff...and dad reads us a book every night!"
The doctor smiled "in a couple of months, you'll know don't worry." She assured and headed back down.
Damon hugged her tightly "we are going to have a little girl!"
Torch folded his wings, hiding them once more, and walked up behind Mae, wrapping his arms around her waist. He kissed the back of her neck gently. "I love you." He whispered, resting his chin on her head. London grinned, her eyes lighting up. "This is ours!? All this is ours!?" She giggled in giddy excitement and ran and bounced on her bed.
Lexi nodded, assured. A couple months. Well that was a lot better than a couple days. But it meant that Damon had to deal with her pregnant for longer. She hugged him back. "Yes we are." She agreed, curling up in his arms. "I'll try not to die this time." She said, smiling.
Mae smiled and leaned back into him turning her head to kiss him "I love you too..." She whispered back and nuzzled him "just glad to have everyone home...no worries just a normal family."James laughed and jumped on his "Dad's going to build us a tree fort! And we can have a secret club!" He said super excited.
Damon chuckled "I'd really appreciate that..." He kissed her neck lovingly and rubbed her stomach "should we let Demetri know?"
Torch nodded, and then chuckled. "Well... almost normal." He grinned. His wings unfolded and wrapped around them both, shielding them from the world for a moment as he kissed her gently. London laughed and flopped back on her bed. "Can I help build?" She asked, excited.
Lexi nodded, closing her eyes as she breathing in and out slowly to calm her racing heart. Then she looked up at him, smiling. "Yes. He will want to know that he has a sister."
Mae sighed happily and gently nipped at his bottom lip and wrapped her arms around his neck pulling her closer, she loved the warmth from his wings around her and that it was just them. She pushed his hair back "surprise later..." She promised hearing the kids jump on the beds.James grinned "yeah! You could make it all nice and clubhouse like! I wouldn't know how!"
Damon smiled and took the pictures pulling her to Demetri's room. He knocked on the door and opened it "hey Dem mom and I need to talk to you."
Torch nodded, "Great. I can't wait." He whispered, kissing her back for one long moment before he reluctantly lifted one wing to call up to the kids. "What are you guys doing up there?" He asked. London grinned. "Planning our clubhouse!" she shouted back, giggling.
Demetri looked up from the book he was reading as his parents walked in and he sat up on the bed, legs crossed. "What is it?" He asked, his eyes full of curiosity.
Lexi smiled lovingly at Damon, and then back at Demetri, rubbing her stomach gently. "I'm pregnant." she told him.
Demetri tipped his head in clear confusion. "Preg...nan...t" He said, sounding out the word to try and gain sense of it.
Mae raised a brow and laughed "do I want to know?" She asked Torch and then called up "don't use any power tools without your father!" She yelled up and then paused "or any tools!"Damon was smiling watching his brilliant mind work "your mom is having a baby girl. You are going to be a big brother." He showed him the picture
London nodded obediently. "Alright!" She called back, grinning at James. Torch laughed and shook his head. "They'll be fine. They don't know where I keep my tools." He assured.
Demetri grabbed the photo, his face lighting up. "I'm going to get a little sister?" He repeated, grinning. "Where is she?"
Lexi laughed softly. She lifted up her shirt a little to show him her stomach. "Right here." She said.
Demeri ran over and hugged her stomach. "Hi baby sister." He whispered.
James frowned in disappointment he wanted to use a hammer but his mom said no! He grabbed a book of tree houses showing London so they could plan what they wanted.Mae raised a brow "you underestimate your son...he was hammering nails in my walls to hang up pictures!"
Damon smiled and hugged his family close, there was his little boy he stroke his shaggy hair "she's excited to meet you buddy..."
London looked through the pictures excitedly. "There should be a window." She decided. "And a door..."Torch laughed and bit his lip guiltily. "Really?" He asked. "I had no idea he was doing that... But I may or may not have left the hammer out...."
Demetri smiled and looked up at his parents. "When is she coming?"
Lexi leaned into Damon, her arm wrapped around Demetri. "Soon. Very soon. In a couple months."
"A couple months!" He exclaimed with dismay. "That's in forever!"
James nodded "curtains for the window! And a secret compartment...to hide treasures!" He said excitedly already planning in his head.Mae shook her head and smacked his arm playfully "Then you my darling husband will fix my walls!"
Damon chuckled "she has to grow in mom, her belly is going to get really big before she comes!"
London nodded excitedly. "And we can put little beds and chairs in there. Kid sized!"Torch groaned in mock protest. "Oh if I have to..." He sighed. Then he smiled and kissed her forehead. "Of course I will."
Demetri frowned, thinking about that. Deciding it was alright, he nodded and smiled. "Ok!" He agreed. "I can't wait!"
Lexi chuckled, leaning her head on Damon's shoulder. "Neither can I."
James nodded eagerly "and a chalk board to write and draw on! As big as the wall!" He said stretching his arms to show the size.Mae smiled and nuzzled him and kissed him "Mmm why are you so perfect? I used to be just a guest here!"
Damon held up a finger to indicate one second and got the book he bought when he founded out Demetri, It didn't have anything about the 'creation' of the baby just how it grows. "Here...if you want to know more about your sister."
London grinned. "Then we can draw and write all day long!" she smiled. "And we can have a chest for our toys up there. And a table for eating.""Perfect?" Torch laughed. "I'm hardly perfect. But thank you." He kissed her back. "A lot changed since you were a guest here."
Demitri picked up the book and started flipping through the large pictures of the different stages of a child. He found one that resembled the state Lexi's stomach was in and held it up. He grinned, excited about his discovery and ran off to look at the pictures on his bed.
Lexi laughed softly and reached up to kiss his cheek. "We made a beautiful kid Damon. And we've got another on the way. I couldn't be happier."
James grinned "And like a...pulley system with a bucket so mom can get us food!" He said excitedly "oh and a mailbox so we can send each other letters!" He started to sketch out everything they wanted.Mae smiled "yeah you don't think I'm boring anymore!" She teased nipping at his lip.
Damon nodded and smiled kissing her lovingly "let's get my mama bear some food!" He led her to the kitchen "what's little missy craving?"
London nodded. "Yes! Then we wouldn't have to ever leave!" She watched him draw, pointing at things to change, and things that were just a little off as he drew, to help him. Torch laughed. "You're right." He said, kissing her a little harder than sweetly. "But you can be a stickler for rules sometimes." He teased, kissing her nose.
Lexi grinned and nodded in agreement. "Your daughter has more reasonable tastes." She said happily. "Can we have nachos? With lots and lots of cheese?"
James nodded at her in agreement and held it up "the perfect clubhouse, let's go show dad!" He rushed down the stairs like a bull in a china shop "dad! Dad! Dad!"Mae smiled "it keeps things from getting chaotic!" She watched her kids coming bounding down the stairs "example A!"
Damon chuckled and nodded putting away the pickles. He grabbed the cheese and started grating like a mad man making a mountain of cheddar!
London ran as quick as she could to catch up with her brother. "Dad we planned the clubhouse!"Torch took a long look at the crayon drawing that was held up to him and smiled. "It looks brilliant. We can begin building once I get the supplies!" He promised.
Lexi licked her lips and watched with delight as the pile of cheese grew. "That's lovely. Absolutely lovely. Now lets heat it up so I can sedate this craving of mine."
Mae smiled at the very well thought out plans, and raised a brow at the bucket "I'm not bringing you snacks guys, you'll still eat lunch at the table." She saw the disappointed looks and caved in a little "ok water bottles and granola bars, but you throw away the wrappers...we don't need animals in the fort right?"Damon chuckled and put it in the microwave, he felt a twinge realizing he couldn't just heat it up with his hands like before. The microwave beeped and he present it to her dramatically "your oily cheesy delight m'lady!"
London nodded. "Right." She agreed, frowning seriously. Torch smiled gently at them both. "It looks like you've worked very hard on this. I'm glad you two are settling in well."
Lexi laughed and took the plate, immediately starting on the cheesiest nacho's, having to pull them quite a distance from the plate before the cheese strings broke. "Thank you my noble king." She said, inclining her head towards him.
James hugged his sister "she's my best friend!" He said seriously "anyone hurt her I'll kill them!" Mae smiled and put the drawing on the fridge "I think daddy should make a list of supplies we need and then we can find ways of getting them"
Damon chuckled at her watching her eat that mess and ate a mixed berry yogurt for himself. "I kind of worry that Dem is going to do more searching and find out stuff he doesn't want to know..."
London smiled and hugged him back, giggling softly. "Thank you." She said, resting her head on his shoulder. Torch nodded. "On it." He agreed, filing a list of things he had to do. 'buy tree house supplies. Patch walls'.
Lexi flushed. "Well... that would be an interesting dinner discussion. If he starts asking questions, you're answering them." she said seriously, smiling a little. "I do hope he doesn't snoop further though..."
James jumped excitedly "dad can we go to the hardware store? Please please please?" Mae laughed and nodded at Torch "I've got some errands I need to run so have fun!"
Damon blinked "me?! Your the woman!" He sighed rubbing his forehead "I didn't know the kid could read he's capable of anything at this point..."
Torch nodded and took London and James's hands in each of his. "Yes. Let's go. We can pick up wood for the structure." He promised, unfolding his wings. Lexi laughed. "So that makes me responsible for having the sex talk with our son?" She asked, shaking her head. "I'll be doing that with our daughter. Demetri is all yours." She chuckled softly. "Good luck. He is quite smart." She agreed.
James smiled and waved at Mae "bye mom!" He said excited and started to flap with his dad and sister "can we get paint?"Damon nodded and sighed "he's a genius, but it's so sweet that he cares about his little sister so much. Maybe we should let him know the black and white version, no details! If he asks" he added
London followed eagerly, finding it easier to fly now with practice. Torch shook his head. "Not until we have it built. Then we can decide on the paint." He said, landing outside the hardware store.
Lexi nodded. "It really is sweet. And she isn't even born yet." Lexi nodded in agreement. "Yes. That sounds like a good compromise. I do not want him getting any ideas about girlfriends at that age!" She said seriously.
James grinned, it smelt like fresh wood. He grabbed a shopping cart and ran inside not really watching where he was going. "Roof shingles?"Mae went to the store and bought clothes for London and toys and new sheets and throw pillows for her room.
Damon blinked "he's not having any girlfriends for a LONG time if ever!" He smiled "he's my little handsome man..."
Torch jogged to catch up with him, scooping up London and putting her in the cart. "Whoa! Slow down. I can't keep up with you!" He laughed, laying a hand on the cart so James could push it but not run off. "Yes. Shingles are a good idea." He agreed. Lexi nodded, sighing in relief. "Good." She agreed. "The last thing I want is some girl taking away our little boy."
James laughed and grinned at his dad "what can I get? Windows can I get windows?!" He asked practically jumping.Damon nodded "I'll be the most protective dad in the world of my baby girl...Taylor right? That's what we liked?" He looked up and saw Demetri "hey kiddo what's up?"
Torch laughed and nodded. "Sure thing. Only one though. Just one." He said seriously. "And it has to be four by four to fit."Lexi nodded and smiled. "Yes. Taylor sounds good." She agreed.
Demetri looked up shyly, the book clutched in his hands. "I've been reading all about my sister. Mom's going to have to have her come out, right?" He asked shyly.
Lexi sighed, looking at Damon in a way that said 'here we go...' She nodded. "Yes. She hast to come out eventually." She agreed.
Demetri nodded gravely. "I thought so." He agreed. "And she had to go in, too right?" He asked. "Where did she come from?"
James nodded and pulled London over to look at windows "which one?" He asked looking through them and waving at her from the other side.Damon sighed and motioned his son over to the couch. He flipped the book to the very first stage "she starts out smaller than a head of a pin...both mom and I created her..." He took a deep breath and found an anatomy book and showed him the parts "Your sister is going to come out there...you understand?"
London looked at each window, thinking very carefully. "How about this one?" She asked, pointing to a fairly simple window that was still elegant. Demetri sat down with his father and listened with interest, looking at the picture. "She was so tiny." he said softly. When Damon flipped to the anatomy pictures, Demetri grimaced a little, and then seemed to get over his brief discomfort. "I understand." He agreed.
James nodded and smiled "I like the arch!" He dragged Torch over "that one dad! Can we do that one please?"Damon closed it quickly and sighed smiling at his son "if you have any question, you can talk to me or mom ok? I know it's a little weird." He shrugged and smiled "but Taylor is going to come and you'll just love her!"
Torch laughed and walked along behind his son. "Yes. We can get that one." He agreed, lifting one of the windows into the cart, making sure it was in good condition first. Demetri nodded and smiled. "It's ok Dad. I understand." He clasped his hands together. "I can't wait for her to come!"
James hopped in the cart putting his fist in the air and pretending to charge "we are going to build the best club house ever!" Damon kissed his head and held him close "I have the smartest kid on earth, you know that?"
Torch laughed and shook his head. "Yes we are." he agreed, proud and amused of his kids. London laughed and generally just followed James around everywhere.
Demetri smiled and hugged him back, looking up at his father like he was his hero. "You're just saying that cause you're my Dad." he said, giggling.
James kept chatting away at the cashier about the club house and the new window and pretty much everything. The cashier shook her head wondering who this random hyper kid was!Damon chuckled "maybe, but you are incredibly smart for your age...we might have to skip grades to get to your level..."
Torch came up and payed for the supplies, apologizing to the clerk and taking James's and London's hands, leading them out of the store. "Well. We got everything." He congratulated. Demetri smiled. "Thank you Dad." He said, leaning against him. "But I want to be in London and James's grade!"
Mae smiled and took Torch's hand, they were growing up and learning to fly "look at our babies..."
The doctor snapped on gloves and gently put tools into Lexi to examine everything, she felt around and smiled just as she suspected.
Damon took her hand and kissed each finger and smiled caressing her face "you doing ok?" He asked quietly worried about her.
