James hugged him "I miss her...and mummy says that I can't meet her till I'm eight!"Mae sighed there was no way of trying to convince her "I know...but just wait, trust me." She got these feelings and they usually were accurate "he'll come back..."
Damon scoffed and shook his head finishing another bottle "doesn't matter, I'll never be a changed man...I'm the most powerful and terrifying demon why should I expect otherwise?!"
Torch sighed and hugged hi, "Who knows? You may see her sooner then that!"Lexi nodded, not entirely convinced, but she was praying that it would be true. She lay back limply on the bed and closed her eyes sighing in resignation. "Thanks for checking on me." She whispered.
Ash shrugged. "Demons do become angels you know." He said meaning it more as a joke than anything, but there was truth in his words.
James looked up excited "really? When can I?"Mae still held her hand "you're my sister...I'll always check up on you. You saved my child's life I can never repay that!"
Damon blinked he had never been an angel before...would it be possible "how?"
Torch smiled and nodded. "Really. As soon as possible, little man. I'll ask your mother if we can arrange a meeting." he promised. Lexi nodded and managed a small smile. "Of course." She dismissed. "It was my fault he was in danger in the first place. I should have watched him more carefully." She said, shaking her head sadly.
Ash shrugged. "Self sacrifice." He said simply. "Why?" Then he frowned. "Ooooh no. You're not thinking about that are you!?"
James grinned and hugged him, he was meeting his sister his twin! He wondered if she looked like him? "But she's an angel right?"Mae shook her head "he gets onto loads of trouble on his own, he knows not to play near the road..." She shook her head sighing.
Damon frowned "what if you couldn't be with any girl...touch them or if you had a child and they were reaching out for you and you couldn't hold them..."
Torch nodded. "Yes she is. Which means you wont be able to touch her." He said softly. Lexi had to smile at that. "You've done a great job raising him, Mae. He's a good kid." She said, smiling.
Ash sighed and shook his head. "So you're going to kill yourself for them!?" He ruffled his hair. "You don't even know if it will work for sure..."
James frowned he wanted to play with her...and hug her! "Ok daddy..."Mae sighed and gave a small smile "he's sweet...very adventurous like Torch, I just miss London she won't even know who I am...she was just a baby..."
Damon shook his head "I've tried to kill myself before it doesn't work..." He sighed giving up that idea, but he didn't really want to live without Lexi and Demetri...
Torch sighed softly. "I know its not ideal..." He said honestly. "But when she grows up, she might fall and then you can touch her."Lexi nodded and bit her lip, understanding how she felt to be separated from a family member. "She may remember you. It wasn't that long ago." She said hopefully.
Ash shrugged. "So go find someone who's going to die and save them. That will give you the white feathers." He suggested.
James nodded as little "I like being a demon! Maybe she will want to be one too?" He frowned in thought "can I turn her? Like you turned mommy?"Mae nodded and sighed "can you just see how she is? Let her know how much we miss and love her?"
Damon sighed "if it was that easy...whatever I'll just continue where I left off with the two of us causing trouble...like it should be."
Torch thought for a moment, and then nodded. "Yes. You could. But she has to agree to it." he said seriously. Lexi nodded. "I will. As soon as I get out of this hospital." She promised.
Ash kept his face straight. "Well I am happy you decided on that." He said honestly. "But I have to say I am rather surprised on how quickly you gave up your old family." He said softly.
James nodded understanding "ok, I hope she does!"Mae hugged her gratefully and smiled "anything I can bring to make your stay better?"
Damon shook his head "I'll never give them up, but if I do sacrifice it'll be from our missions...most likely. I can't just sit on the couch drinking a six pack!"
Torch nodded and smiled, bouncing the bubbly little boy on his knee. "We all do." He said softly. Lexi thought about it, but her thoughts immediately wandered to Damon and she winced. "No. I'll be ok. Thanks." She forced a smile.
Ash nodded in agreement. "Alright then. Let's go look for trouble." He said, grinning.
James laughed holding on "tell me about being a demon before you met mom!"Mae nodded and pat her hand "it'll be ok...just don't think about him..."
Damon chuckled "lead the way, you have an infinity way of finding it!"
Torch grinned. "I was young and reckless then. And quite a bit of a trouble maker..." He said honestly. Lexi bit her lip and nodded. "I'm trying." She whispered.
Ash laughed. "Yes I do. It's a gift." He soared out of the window and into the sky, his eyes wandering over the ground. All he could see so far were fields of horses, cows, and bulls.
James laughed "what did you do to get into trouble?"Mae rubbed her back "don't think of him as gonr, think of him on a mission write letters send pictures..."
Damon followed after him "you're wearing red...want to be chased by a bull?"
Torch smiled sheepishly. "things that your mother would slap me for, that's for sure. When I was your age I snuck a tarantula into a girl's lunch box." He said, laughing softly. Lexi nodded, trying to convince her self of that, and immediately felt better. "Thanks. That helped." She said.
Ash grinned and swooped down immediately. "Yes!" He landed in the middle of a bull pasture. "Ok. Rules. No wings. Just running. And don't die." He laughed, jumping around to try and get the bulls' attention.
James laughed out loud "did she scream? When am I going to school?"Mae smiled "I'm glad..." She pecked her head "I'm gratefully I can still be with you!"
Damon shook his head "it was a joke!" He sighed and flew down looking at the beast of the bull "don't die indeed..."
Torch nodded, chuckling. "Yes she did." He said. "You'll go to school in the fall." he promised. Lexi nodded and smiled. "I'm glad I've got someone I can still come in contact with." She said honestly.
Ash laughed. "A joke. Hilarious. I was being serious." He grinned. The bull snorted and pawed the ground, charging towards him. He laughed and ran off, shouting as he did. He couldn't see how close the bull was behind him.
James grinned "what do you do at school?" He was so excited to try something new.Mae smiled "it's kind of nice being a mutt...I just don't get why I can't touch my daughter?"
Damon looked at him nervously and then charged as the bull trampled Damon before getting to Torch and impaled his stomach.
Torch smiled. "You learn about the world and everything in it. You meet friends, and play sports. You do lots and lots of things." he said, smiling. Lexi nodded, and then shrugged. "Children are a special kind of innocent. I would suspect that demons can't touch that without tarnishing it."
Ash heard the bull roar close behind him, and he jumped a little in surprise, but then Damon was there in a second and before he could think, he had been trampled and impaled. Ash's breath hitched and he ran over to Damon's side, "No no no no no! Please be alive..." He whispered, looking nervously at his brother.
James frowned "but I want to stay with you and mommy! What if the kids don't like me?"Mae nodded but she still felt horrible about it all, she started to get a raging headache "ow...where'd that come from?.."
Damon was breathing raspily blood shooting from the wound at every breath "Ash..."
Torch smiled. "You'll still live with us. Don't worry." He assured him. "I'm sure you'll make plenty of friends. I'm going to have to start shooing girls away from my little handsome man." He teased, rubbing noses with him. Lexi frowned in worry. "Are you alright?" She asked softly, concerned for her friend. It was like she was just... suddenly in pain...
Ash's throat constricted with emotion. "Right here." he promised, gathering his brother's hand in both of his. He avoided looking at the wound, knowing it was too great to heal. "I told you not to try and kill yourself..." He joked, choking on his words as he tried to keep from crying.
James made a face "girls are yucky! I don't want them, cept my sister!"Mae frowned wincing "I don't know...get Torch or my mum..."
Damon laughed painfully more blood fountaining out "when...have I listened...to you?" He gasped out.
Torch laughed softly. "And I wish you would think that way forever." he said softly. Lexi bit her lip and nodded. "Torch! Get in here! Something is wrong with Mae!"
Torch jumped up and carried James in. "What is it!?"
Ash bit his lip and shook his head. "Never." he replied, unable to even smile at that. His hands shook a little.
Mae whimpered clenching her held it felt like a pressure that was pressing against her skull. Her eyes turned pure white and she told the vision she saw 'Damon is dying, must turn him...before it's too late..' She said in a monotone voice.Damon gripped onto his brother'a hand "it's going...to b-be ok...Ash" he promised not wanting to see his brother like this. He didn't want him to be saf.
Torch stared, shocked. He knew Mae had seen a vision, he was just too stunned to react. Lexi however, jerked into action immediately, her heart pounding. "He's dying!?" She shrieked, trying to leap out of bed despite her injuries. "We have to go save him!"
Ash bit his lip and nodded feverishly. "Of course! You'll be just fine.... You'll be just fine..." He glanced at the bloody hole in his stomach and winced, closing his eyes tight.
Mae's eyes went back to normal and she was drained leaning into Torch's chest "it's a field...in the country..." She explained and held onto his hand "he's impaled..."Damon tried to stay awake but it was getting difficult "Lexi...tell her...tell her..." He couldn't speak his breathing was becoming forced now, he felt no pain which was never a good sign.
"Impaled!?" Lexi screamed, ripping the IV's out of her arm, oblivious to the pain. She crumpled to the floor the second she tried to stand, and immediately started half crawling, half dragging herself to the door. Torch held onto Mae and sighed softly. "I guess I have to fly all of us down there." He said to himself, calling a nurse to watch James and Demetri. Then he grabbed Mae and Lexi, lifting all of them into the skies.
Ash nodded. "I'll tell her." He promised. "Don't talk." He insisted, the shaking in his hands growing worse. "Just stay with me, ok? Don't leave. Don't go, not yet." He begged.
Torch spotted two figures huddled in a field and he swooped down by them. "Here we are." He said, setting the girls down, but holding onto Mae to support her.
Mae was in shock at the scene, the blood was staining the yellow grass and a bull was munching on clovers a little way off. This is what she saw...she saw Damon dice in and save his brother, who was identical to Damon...lighter hair though.Damon's eyes were drooping and blood started to fountain out the side of his mouth, he kept seeing glimpses of his friends but he just guessed it was hallucinations.
Lexi looked up and saw Damon dying on the grass and a scream built up in her throat. She ran as fast as she could on a cast and collapsed beside him, staring at him in shock. "Damon?"Ash looked up, surprised and a little nervous about this girl who randomly appeared. He clung to Damon's hand, but backed up a little, figuring that this was the girl his brother loved.
Lexi scooped Damon up in her arms, disregarding how quickly she was weakening from touching a demon. "Damon!" She cried. "You have to wake up!" She shouted at him, cradling his head in her arms. "He's dying to save someone else!" She shouted. "He should be an angel! Why isn't he alive!? Why is he still dying!?" She cried, sobs building up in her chest.
Mae looked at Torch the same way wondering why it wasn't working, he had to be turned but a demon couldn't do it!Damon opened his eyes and saw Lexi and the weakest smile appeared on his face, he was hoping he'd see her before...well before he faded.
Torch sighed softly. "You have to turn him yourself Lexi. Don't ask me how it's done. I don't know." He said honestly. Lexi saw the look on his face and she paled. "No..." She whispered. "No! No you can't leave me!" She cried. "No Damon please... I need you..." she said softly, her body collapsing over his as her energy continued to drain from touching him. She lay, her head on his chest, sobbing. And then, her will for him to live, triggered the turn.
Mae watched heartbroken for them and then gasped seeing feathers start to grow from Damon's back and they were black just like his demon wings. He still had his eyes closed but the blood was ceasing slowly and his color on his face was coming back "Lexi!"
Lexi heard Mae's voice distantly and she shook her head, trying to say that she wanted to be left alone. She gripped Damon's t shirt, holding him tightly as she cried against his chest. Torch smiled a little, "Well there you have it. Even Damon can become an angel." He said, shaking his head in astonishment.
Mae laughed a little "he's a mutt like me, it's not that drastic of a change...they can be together now!" She said excited and glanced at her Torch and kissed him.Damon rested his hand on her head and stroke it gently trying to sooth her, the hole was healing slowly but he was conscious and able to breathe easier.
Torch smiled and lifted her off the ground a little, kissing her right back. Lexi jerked when she felt a hand on her head, and she lifted her tear stained face to look at him. He was... alive? A strangled laugh/sob escaped her and Lexi flung her arms around his neck, her sobbing starting all over again, but this time for joy.
Mae held the kiss as long as possible and ran her hands through his hair "never stop being my demon boy..."Damon grunted in pain but held her close smiling at his brother grateful that he was ok, he felt the feathers and instantly felt like a sissy but that was alright...he could hold and touch his Lexi.

Torch nodded and leaned his forehead against hers. "Never." He promised. "I'll always be yours. Always."Lexi clung to him until she had no more tears. Then she pulled away slowly and searched his face for any sign of pain. Once she was sure that he would be ok, she immediately scowled. "Don't you ever do that ever again. You hear me? Ever!" She said, a little louder than intended. Then she whispered. "You tore my heart out."
Mae smiled and kissed his lips softly "we are all mutts now!" She said with a laugh and watched her friends reunite. She took his hand "are you ok?" Damon stroke her face and nodded "alright..." No point in arguing. He leaned in and kissed her forehead lovingly and wiped her tears away. He looked at Ash and sighed "no more stupid things..."
Torch smiled and nodded. "Yes we are." He agreed. "Yes." he said then, "I am alright. Tired from carrying you and Lexi, but alright." he assured her. Lexi smiled then and caressed his face with her hand, her eyes lingering on his. "I missed you." she whispered, and kissed him.
Ash sighed and rolled his eyes. "Figures. And I lose my brother again." He huffed, crossing his arms.
Mae frowned "I could have flew...I was just so dazed from that vision..."Damon kissed her softly and lovingly back, her taste sparking in his mouth again like coming home after a long trip "Lex this is my brother Asher, Ash this is Lexi."
Torch smiled and shook his head. "It's fine. I don't mind carrying you." He promised. Lexi was rather reluctant to be pulled away from the kiss, in fact, she just wanted to spend time with Damon alone, but she was not going to be rude, so she smiled at Asher. "Nice to meet you." She said politely.
Ash faked a smile. "Pleasure is all mine." He huffed, folding his arms and pouting. He didn't like Lexi very much, because he figured Damon liked her better than him.
Damon looked at his Lexi and slowly let her go and sighed "Lex I need to talk to my brother alone for a second ok?" He pecked her cheek and ushered his moody brother over "hey, you don't have to like her but you need to respect her...your my brother no one will ever replace my best friend." He cuffed his cheek playfully "I don't save just anyone from certain death..."
Lexi nodded rather reluctantly and backed away from him, waiting not very patiently for when she would have him all to herself again. She had missed him so desperately she just wanted to spend time with him. Ash looked up at him hopefully. "But she seems to have taken over your whole life!" He protested. "I feel like you don't have time for me anymore..."
Mae hugged her when she came over "told you so!" She said happy for her friend.Damon struggle to sit up and groaned in pain clutching his stomach "I'll always have time for you Ash...but Lex is my priority, just like you'd choose Astra over me doesn't mean we care about each other any less right?"
Lexi laughed softly and nodded. "I've never been so happy to be proved wrong in my life." she said honestly, hugging her back. Ash sighed and nodded. "You've got a point there." He agreed, smiling a little then. "Alright. I'm not mad anymore." He said, his smile growing a little wider.
Mae smiled "we should get him some real medical help...he still has a long recovery ahead like you should be doing!"Damon chuckled "oh good, I'm glad that me dying cleared that up for you! He punched his brother'a arm "help me up! Can't stand being vulnerable on my back!"
Lexi shook her head and brushed that suggestion away. "He should go to the hospital, yes. But I am just fine. I don't need any help at all." She insisted. Ash laughed and nodded, getting up and grabbing Damon's hand to help pull him into a standing position. "of course."
Lexi bit her lip and nodded. He could... but what where the chances that he would come across a situation where he needed to sacrifice himself? Slim to none. It would be easier for her just to kill someone. "I need him hack." She whispered.
Ash bit back an I told you so and just nodded sympathetically. He actually felt bad this time, seeing the toll it had on his brother. He felt bad enough to say "im sorry."
