This looks fantastic Jess! Its very thorough which I really appreciate :D With your additions we only need ONE more book to finish part one of the mini-challenge. It`s for the ``find a name`` part so that shouldn`t be too difficult

Jess (jesscatt) | 116 comments Glad it wasn't too overwhelming to look at, lol!

I have to swap Looking for Alaska (Green) with And Then There Were None (Christie) because that's the way the library went today lol.

Other people will probably find one more name by the end of the month even by accident, but if we get close to the end and no one's had any luck let me know and I'll read one of the exact books lol.

message 204: by Kate S (new)

Kate S Hey all! I hope you are all doing well. I have hit a snag in my usual reading style, but I am pulling out of it quickly. One more book and I should be back up to snuff. :)

I did find a Kate in In The Name of Honor, I will add that to my post now.

I have found 2 Buttercups!?! Unfortunately, one was a cow and one is a cat. Not sure they count. :(

I can`t believe you found TWO! I don`t think I`ve ever seen the name Buttercup outside of The Princess Bride xD
Were they talking animals? Or central to the story some way? Even if they don't count, with your last addition of Kate that actually puts us at 10/10 and finishes part 1 of the challenge completely!

Was one of those animals in The Ladies of Missalonghi? Because I saw a Neville as a character listed for that book, so we could use that if he was a person.

As long as everyone stays on track we are looking really good for this month!

I would like to get the spreadsheet as updated as possible on Saturday, so I really need everyone to have their comments updated by then :D that way we can see where we are going into our last week

message 206: by Jess (new)

Jess (jesscatt) | 116 comments Can do :)

And Kate, I can't believe you found 2 Buttercups either! I have to say, that is a pretty great name for a cow. Very cute haha.

Stephanie | 44 comments I have found Elizabeth for challenge part 1 in Frankenstein. I will update when I'm finish it :)

It's amazing what you find when you start looking for it. Neither Buttercup had a speaking role nor a particularly central role to the story. As you pointed out, there was a Neville in the one which can replace Buttercup. He was a doctor and had several speaking scenes.

It is a fitting name for a cow. I believed it. ;)

Jess (jesscatt) | 116 comments I'm sorry for my radio silence! I've been feeling unwell and sleeping for most of the last 2 days haha.

My books still to finish this month are - Primal Waters, The penultimate peril, The end, Stardust, Spirit bound, Moon called, And then there were none, Dracula, and Storm front.

I'm confident I'll be able to finish these all though as my weird reading style means I've already started them all, if not almost finished. Eg, I'll easily finish at least Primal Waters and Dracula today (would have been 2 days ago if I hadn't slept through those days lol)

Hope this is somewhat helpful. I'll update my proper post when I'm feeling well enough to get to my computer without some casual agony haha.

Caroline (paper_moonshine) | 822 comments Here is the countdown for the start of April

message 214: by Bob (new)

Bob Pearsall (bobbledybook) Heya, it's become apparent that I'm not going to be able to tackle a Clash of Kings in time for our challenge, so I'm picking up The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler.

This will fulfill our Yellow 1 card because it is the first in a series and the cover is yellow as all get out.

I'll also be breezing through The Princess Bride before the deadline for the 2nd criteria of part 1 of the mini-challenge.

...then I will peacefully return to my tumultuous journey through Westeros. Huzzah!

Caroline (paper_moonshine) | 822 comments Okay guys here is the update going into our last few days of March.

We have 16 UNO cards and 7 books for part 1 left to finish. This information is based on people`s updated comments, so I`m thinking we actually have less to finish. Looking at everyone`s current reading I have no doubts that we will finish out both our UNO cards and the mini-challenge - nice work guys!

These are the books I have listed to use for PART 2. If a finished book is missing or a book was started before the mini-challenge started please let me know ASAP. We`ve got 18 books to use for this part so far - excellent job! We would need 48 to use all the letters.

The Slippery Slope
Tehanu
Dealing with Dragons
How to Speak Dragonese
The Man of Feeling
How to Be a Pirate
No Longer Human (Bob)
No Longer Human (Genna)
Baking is Murder
Searching for Dragons
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency
Pyramids
Knitting is Murder
Peace Like a River
The Animators
The Black Dahlia
Matilda
Calling on Dragons

We`re looking good on matching our letters with the available scrabble letters, but we really need some Y ones! R, N, and E are also needed

message 216: by Ashlee (new)

Ashlee | 370 comments I am currently reading Chosen which can count for a back-up for name scavenger hunt....character Will.

I will then start What Once Was Perfect for a "Y"....author's last name

message 217: by Caroline (last edited Apr 22, 2017 10:57PM) (new)

Caroline (paper_moonshine) | 822 comments Okay guys we are 48 hours out from starting our final month of UNO! So please get your March comments as updated as possible as soon as possible.

You can also, if you'd like, go ahead and start your April comment.

Here are the colored cards for April. This time we have 10 to do.
0 Blue - Emma - Meet Me at Beachcomber Bay
9 Green - Bob - Go Tell It on the Mountain
1 Green - Bob - An Invisible Sign of My Own
7 Green - Caroline - How to Twist a Dragon's Tale
9 Yellow - Emma - What Alice Forgot
1 Yellow - Bob - A Clash of Kings
9 Red - Caroline -How to Steal a Dragon's Sword
1 Red - Bob - The Mysterious Affair at Styles
6 Red - Kate - Hag-Seed
2 Red - Caroline - Soul Music

backups

Also keep in mind that we will have a final mini-challenge in April that will be starting around the 15th. It will probably have something to do with Easter. I know we can't plan too much for a mini-challenge because we don't know what the parameters will be, but seeing as it'll be the last month I think it's safe to assume it will be fairly open and fairly large. So maybe keep your shorter books for the second half of the month.
