I saw this is a Kindle Daily Deal today. I added to my TBR but didn't actually buy it yet.
I just started 1Q84! I'm listening on audible and am only an hour and half in so far. Too soon to make a judgment on this 45+ hour listen, but I have high hopes.
I'm back to reading Wonder Woman: Warbringer, which I wasn't able to finish for the toppler, and Bull Mountain for the yearly challenge.

I have this one, Kimey, but haven't read it yet. The reviews have been positive from my GR friends.
I am currently reading I, Claudius: from the Autobiography of Tiberius Claudius and Deafening, and just finished Heartburn all for my Question Challenge. I am finally getting back to The Warded Man for the group read.

I'm about 3/4 the way through this book and really enjoying it!

So did I, but I listened to BBC verion which was an all cast performance.
Jackie, I have Magpie Murders and I'm looking forward to it.
I haven't posted in here for a while. I read The Forever War for the toppler which I really enjoyed. I started Brave New World on audio for it too but never finished it in time so I'm still working my way through it. It has turned out a lot better than I expected it to be and the narration is excellent. I am also rereading The Painted Man for the group read but also as i want to read the whole series again before reading the final book in the series. I've put the other group read The Vagrant on hold for a bit as I can't keep focused on it at the moment. I've read quite a lot of it so i will finish it but just not now.
I finished Gray Wolf Island for the monthly challenge. Next up is A Death in Vienna, if I can find it. I still haven't unpacked my books so I'll have to go hunting for it this evening. This will be a leftover stew challenge read (from last year's geocache challenge).

I'm going to start Enchantress for the yearly challenge. It's a book I got for free on amazon back when I only just had my ereader, and now I finally get to reading it. Free ebooks always make me a bit hesistant, but the reviews are pretty good.
Peggy wrote: "I'm going to start Enchantress for the yearly challenge. It's a book I got for free on amazon back when I only just had my ereader, and now I finally get to reading it. Free ebooks ..."Peggy, I got that freebee too. Let me know what you think.

Maria that's the great thing about you tube - you can relive the 20th to hearts content lol
Peggy - That one is $4.99 here now. I know what you mean about the freebies too. I pick them up because they're free, but then I'm hesitant to read them because I worry about the quality of the writing and the story. I've read some that have been pretty bad, but I've read some good ones too.
I almost never pick up freebies. I get ebook deals emails but I limit my buying to titles I recognize from my tbr. This one's from my early ereader days though, when I wasn't so picky ;-) So far it's not bad.
Glad you're enjoying it. I don't pick up as many as I used to when I first got my Kindle, but sometimes I think that a certain book may fit a challenge at some point. They often just sit on my Kindle.
I think it was Esther, quite some time ago, that gave us a challenge called STUD or DUD. It was to read at least the first 30 to 50 pages in a list of books that you had laying around. If they were DUDS - get rid of them, and if they were STUDS, either finish them, or at least make a note that they were worth finishing. I got rid of about 6 books of the 10 that I chose. I have two that have never been finished yet, but at least I know that I want to. All of the books had been "freebies" and sitting in my ereader.

Some things from the 20s should never be brought back! (I can sustain my argument with sufficient proof, if You like!)
Peggy wrote: "I'm going to start Enchantress for the yearly challenge. It's a book I got for free on amazon back when I only just had my ereader, and now I finally get to reading it. Free ebooks ..."Me too, Peggy. We'll all be awaiting your judgement

Oh, forgive me, ThingTwo, for misquoting. Thank you, Rusalka for finding the thread. It was such a great idea!
I echo the whole conversation about the freebies. Stocked up, reluctant to read, some a hit, some a miss, more discerning about freebies now. I also have Enchantress as a freebie. LOL!
Lol, apparently something sounded good about this freebie or we wouldn't all have gotten it. I feel like a guinnea pig now!

Margo, Magpie Murders continues to get more interesting. Everytime I think I have figured it out, more people are introduced that can be added to the suspect list!

Midsommer Murders hasn'd been the same since Horowitz stopped writing the scripts. I'd like to bump it up my list but I'm trying very hard to finish off the annual challenge.
I'm readingWicked Bugs: The Louse That Conquered Napoleon's Army & Other Diabolical Insects; this book gives me the creeps. If you don't want to sleep careless anymore, you should read it...I'm reading Le Guide Officiel To Being British; I'd love to hear what our British members think about it.
May I whine? I feel like I've been reading Sleeping Beauties for way too long. It's a 25 hours audiobook (720 pages). I started it before the toppler and then set it aside for that week. Another week later and I'm still not finished. I've bumped up the speed to 1.5x, but I have 7 hours left. ARGH!
Too funny, Janice! I have four or five audiobooks that are all this long and over and your complaint is exactly what keeps me from starting them.
Janice, another GR friend finished it a few days ago and felt very disappointed by it. King is her favorite author, and she has read and reread all his books, but didn't like this one. I hope you get engage again with the story..

I read somewhere that Owen tends to be more satirical in his writing, so perhaps he's the main contributor.
I know some people are put off by the satirical political commentary. Many authors do write their books with a political agenda. King certainly wasn't the first, and won't be the last.
