I finished Girl in Snow and started The Dispatcher. I thought Girl in Snow was ok. I wasn't crazy about the writing style. I'm enjoying The Dispatcher though.

I finished The Painted Man for the group read. I am so close to finishing Bad Science. One more bus journey should do it. I started The Monarch of the Glen for the monthly challenge. It's an American Gods novella.

I decided to bail on Lincoln in the Bardo. It's not holding my interest. The structure is too disjointed for me.

I'll start Trigger Warning: Short Fictions and Disturbances for the themed read tonight.

I finished My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected, Vol. 3 yesterday. With this book, I have read 26 books this year which was my goal (I'm early so that's good!)
I started The Empty Box and Zeroth Maria, Vol. 1 today and will start The Shell Collector in one week or so for the group read.

Finished Dark Matter it was a slow start for me but once things got going and I was able to figure things out I didn't want to put the book down.

I finally finished I, Claudius: from the Autobiography of Tiberius Claudius. I can truthfully state that it was not my favorite read for the year.

I am definitely enjoying The Atlantis Gene. The Night Tourist was YA meh but some of the ghosts were interesting.

Oh, and I started listening to The Silent Corner. The narrator is Elizabeth Rodgers.

I finished The Prophet and really enjoyed it. I almost gave it 5 stars. it's definitely a 2 hanky read.

I just finished The Dispatcher today, Janice. It was very short, but good.

I also finished The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman today and I started The Child Finder by Rene Denfeld.

I finished The Dispatcher read by Zachary Quinto who did a marvelous job even though I kept hearing Spock as the main character. I figured a Spock personality for the role of dispatcher was perfect.

Next up in another Scalzi book, Lock In. When I purchased the audiobook, I got the edition narrated by Amber Benson. Since then, I've realized that I generally prefer male narrators, and I've really enjoyed Will Wheaton's performance in a couple of recent books. It will be interesting how I react to Amber Benson.

I have been stuck in Real Life for a bit. During that time I read the latest Louise Penny, Now, I like them all but this one is really good. Could not let it go,

I was at friends' last weekend, they live in the area where Three Pines would be. I always feel like going driving and getting lost when I am around there... just in case,.,..

This is the version we've been looking for, as Lexx hates Wil Wheaton and loves Amber Benson as Tara in Buffy. Glad you enjoyed that version Travis, and looking forward to hear what you think Janice.

I also have discovered Amber Benson writes urban fantasy herself now. Death's Daughter. We bought number 4 in the series at our book dealers the last time we were there for the novelty value.

I finished Lock In and really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward for the sequel. It's expected publication date is April 2018. Hopefully some of the unanswered questions will be addressed. I'm looking forward to the next case for Shane and Vann.

I started Mao's Last Dancer today. It will fit into the Survey Challenge.

I really enjoyed Lock In too. I didn't realize there is sequel coming out in 2018.

Oh...I'm curious to see what you think of Mao's Last Dancer. I listened to it last year on a road trip with my husband. Neither of us cared for it, but everyone else seems to love it.

I haven't listened much, only the 10 minutes to retreat and back each day. Retreat is over today and life gets back to normal tomorrow, so should be able to do more reading. So far, I like what I've heard.

I abandoned Vampires in the Lemon Grove. I'm just not in the right frame of mind for it. It was feeling like a chore even though I hadn't finished the first story. So I started Nemesis which I'm enjoying much better. It's for the all about me challenge. It should be my last book. So pleased to be back with Harry Hole. I always hold off picking one of these books up for some reason then when I'm reading it, I struggle to put it down. I've also been focusing on finishing up books that I've left this year. SO I finally finished The Tale of the Dueling Neurosurgeons: The History of the Human Brain as Revealed by True Stories of Trauma, Madness, and Recovery and I Can Make You Smarter and Bad Science. It feels good.

I finished Deafening. This was a beautifully written story and a debut novel. It was well researched and wonderfully presented story of the time and place, in Deseronto and Bellview, Ontario, Canada. The MC had lost her hearing when she was 5 years old and the story was about her and her family and how they coped with her hearing loss and also more than half of the book about her husband Jim, an Ambulance corpsman in France in WWI.

I am really enjoying reading Me: Stories of My Life by Katharine Hepburn. She has always been one of my favorite people.

I just finished Never Let You Go for the yearly challenge. It was really good. It was a contender for the choice awards, but didn't make it into the final round.

I just started The Forever Summer, also for the yearly challenge. So far, it's pretty good.

I'm also listening to Tiger's Curse for the yearly challenge. It feels younger than I was expecting, but I'm enjoying it well enough.

Yesterday audible was having downloading issues. I think the server was overloaded with people trying to download new releases. Anyway. I went through my library and queued up all the free stuff or real short stories I've paid a bit of nothing for through the years. Not going to list them all because there must have been at least 10 maybe 15. Nice thing was that if a connection was made it only took a minute to download a book 45 minutes to 90 minutes long. Also let me listen to a bunch of books that have been lurking in the unread zone. I listened to maybe 5 yesterday. They were all free stories audible has given us a Christmas time and one of love poems from Valentine's day we got for free
