I'll order the other 2 books soon, so I'd be happy to buddy read them in 2018 :)
Excellent! Let me know when you get them and when works for you. My January is pretty packed, but February or later would work.
I just ordered them, they should be here within a few days. Late February or from March onwards would work for me too. I'll set up a thread and we can decide on a date and see if there are others who want to join.
I finished Hawaii Five Uh-Oh! last night on ebook. I don't think I'll start a new print book until tomorrow when all the new challenges begin.
Sounds good, Peggy! I just started A Plague of Giants, but I think I’m going to put it aside to read Little Fires Everywhere for the group discussion first.
it is actually sad how excited i am about the challenge - my first book is The Wasp Factoryi am a bit ashamed of failing this years goodreads challenge. i do have 2 short stories read and in the bank and 900 is pages of oathbring but unless i get another short story read, which i could there is no chance

Reading those chunksters (doorstops) can put a dent in your goodreads challenge. I read 27 books this year that were over 500 pages and I barely made my goal for 2017.
I have set a GR challenge goal since I joined GR, but I don't think I am going to do it in 2018. I think we should be able to set a goal in pages instead of books. As far as I know it has been suggested to GR but for some reason they refuse. I think it is a very easy thing to do. In the same way you choose to track your current reading in pages or percentage, you should be able to pick books or pages. Next year will be weir for me, I am not sure how much I will be able to read. And I would like to try to read more in French, not form the beginning but in the last 3 or 4 months of the year I expect to be able to do it, and this will slow my reading pace for sure. A goal will only stress me out.

i consider myself to have completed the challenge!
Cody, if you want to check how many pages you have read and compare with previous years you can do it in STATS. You will find it on your home page, on the left side, after that list of tour shelves. Still you can't set your goal in pages for the challenge.
I wonder if the issue for Goodreads is that the page length varies by edition. When you do the challenge by number of books, it's easy to have the coding count the number of books read. Ebooks aren't always representative of the actual length of the book, and most of the audiobooks list the number of hours as pages. The book I'm listening to right now shows as 0 pages, yet it's over 600 in paperback. People aren't always diligent about the edition when they shelve. I try to shelve the edition I'm reading, but some people just select the first edition that comes up in the search. So it's a bit more complex for coding, I would think.

i can see what you mean but for m it is more accurate to pick another version. with oathbringer, i read 2 - 3 books of pages before i put it down, also as i said a few days ago, i got the gunslinger for christmas and when i did an estimate of words per page, oathbringer was a lot higher
i have put an attempt in for this years (2018) goodreads challenge, it ties in with our zodiac challenge (36 for me) and if i meet 2018s challnge, i will have probably failed this years challenge, of 26 having read more
i understand that the cant please everyone though but i will just have to avoid all competitions when i decide to finish the malazn books
I finished Brother Odd for the group read theme. I have started Dune for a buddy read plus so many people have recommended it so I thought i'd best read it. I've literally read a couple pages so I might just reread those so I can count it somewhere in the yearly challenge possibly. I also plan to start The Little Friend for the monthly challenge.
