From this technological turbulence has emerged the illuminated novel—-a book that takes a conventional plot as its centerpiece and then decorates it with postcards, leaflets and other addenda. Printed, drawn or wedged into the pages, these inserts become critical appendages of the story and transform books, such as J.J. Abrams’ and Doug Dorst’s collaboration S. and Mark Z. With Bats of the Republic, Zachary Thomas Dodson makes his bold entrance into this intriguing genre." from https://www.pastemagazine.com/article...

Despite my initial feelings about this book, and not really liking the movie adaptation, I was surprisingly moved by it. The writing is simple, but I appreciated how the stories were woven together mixed with the letters each girl wrote. The author did a decent job of giving her characters their own personality in their letters. Worth reading! 4.5 stars

Hello sweetheart,

Good luck with your challenge. I hope you'll make it!

I've got a question, how can I strike out the book titles on my own list, when I'm finished with each book, like you did with yours?

Thank you for your time and Happy Reading :)

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed #44 (character's life span) - Somewhere Out There by Amy Hatvany. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The author's characters were real, and unfortunately, the mother character in this book found herself in circumstances that are not all that different almost forty years later. The book was well-researched, and other than being a bit bland in the beginning, progressed well. I received this book as a giveaway in exchange for my honest review. Worth reading! 4 stars
