I haven't read those three either. Let me know when you are starting.

The revelations books are great BTW with part 6 percepliquis being phenomenal. The build of the 6 parts was so well done.
Age of Myth was also excellent and I expect that series will also only get better as it goes along.

I think they should see the choose folder option like we do."
They can see that if they create a new discussion. They just can't make a new folder and they can't see the folders if they just go to the group page.

Hi guys. As I've said in the Welcome thread, I'm looking for buddies to start reading any of the following books (in no particular order) from August 1:Gardens of The Moon (The Malazan Book of the Fallen - Steven Erikson)
The Final empire (Mistborn - Brandon Sanderson)
Prince of Thorns (The Broken Empire - Mark Lawrence)
The Blade Itself (The First Law - Joe Abercrombie)
Some other book I've been considering, but that might not fit the fantasy label:
The Dispossessed (Ursula K. Le Guin)
Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom (Cory Doctorow)
Dune (Dune Chronicles - Frank Herbert)
Anyone interested?
Edit: added The Blade Itself to the list.
There's a GOTM thread in the Malazan folder. I think they are looking at September. There's also Lawrence thread as well. The others I'll wait to see if people are interested.
Scott wrote: "There's a GOTM thread in the Malazan folder. I think they are looking at September. There's also Lawrence thread as well. Still, if there's no interest in any of the other books I'll try to keep myself occupied with Terry Pratchett until October.
If you start reading and add comments to the thread the others of us ahead of you will join the discussion. It's hard to fit everybody's schedule but you could catch up to us.
As Scott said, there are a lot of threads and everyone will add comments, even if they are not reading along. It's hard to find the right time that fits everyone's schedule so a lot of the time, one person is reading and people who have recently read the book will give their input.
I'm reading The Blade Itself right now and I'm only a couple chapters in if you were planning to start it right now.

If you start the thread I'll contribute. Love the series. I stopped after the first three to preserve the goodness but would be up for future groups reads starting at book 4.

I've been wanting to start The First Law series for ages, but I can't start it right now and August is a big maybe. I'll try to catch up later though and contribute to the discussion, if that's okay.

Go at your own pace :) I'll still be here to talk about it and there are many others here who love this series.

Alright, The Blade Itself it is! Just need to finish Small Gods first and then I'll get right to it. Cool to see how responsive this community is; I didn't expect so many replies in one day. :)

Was anyone carrying on with Bloodsounder's Arc by Jeff Salyards.
Keen to buddy read the third book Chains of the Heretic later in the year if anyone wants to. I just finished Veil of the Deserters last week and really enjoyed it. Maybe in October?

I would do the third one later - I still need to do the second one.

I'd need to catch up and I really won't have time to do it until later this year but I'd have interest in the Slayards trilogy.
Also this winter I'd have interest in the Abercrombie Shattered Seas trilogy.

Would anyone be interested in reading a standalone fantasy with me in December?Yes, I know, that is rather a long time ahead, but my reading schedule is pretty much tied up until November already.
I was thinking about doing either The Goblin Emperor or The Folding Knife but I am open to other suggestions.

I am most certainly in! I am eager to read a stand alone book. I heard really good things about Warbreaker. Have you read it already? I love Sanderson and I would like to read this book at some point but it is a suggestion!
I'm ashamed to admit I've not read anything by Sanderson yet (several of his are on my tbr list). However, I had not heard about this one. It certainly looks interesting but it doesn't seem to be a standalone as Sanderson is planning to write a sequel.
The Goblin Emperor doesn't really appeal to me, but I would be down for The Folding Knife or Warbreaker in December. Should be done with The First Law by then.
I also remember now that there is Uprooted which is still supposed to be a standalone book and I heard and read very positive reviews - but it might be more oriented towards a female audience, if that makes sense.
Uprooted is on my tbr list, so we could go for that as well if you and Daniel would prefer that over The Folding Knife.
Warbreaker is a stand alone that is going to have a sequel. The story ends with no cliff hangers and can totally be read on its own. I really liked it and it reminded me a bit of Brent Week's Lightbringer series.
Uprooted would also work for me. So we now have to choose between Uprooted, The Folding Knife and Warbreaker? I have no preference between these three. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I got a feeling Dani isn't too exited about Warbreaker, and Aristea isn't that interested in The Folding Knife. If this is true, maybe Uprooted is the best compromise?
I'm keen for a standalone as well. Dani I love forward planning, makes it easier to pick what to read.
I'm happy with any of the options you have all been discussing as I haven't read any of them.

Hello all,I have just started the second Mistborn novel, The Well of Ascension. Is anyone interested in doing a buddy read, with the intent to finish the novel in 3-4 weeks (my reading schedule fluctuates based on work)? Let me know!
Best,
Jonathan

I am more than happy to compromise and read either Uprooted or Warbreaker if that's what you guys would like to read. My only wish is for the book to be a standalone, because I already have more than enough series lined up vying for my time.
I might join you if you choose to do Warbreaker. I have been thinking about giving Brandon Sanderson another go after I failed to like his Mistborn series. December will be exam time for me, so I don't know how much time I will have for reading. A standalone would probably be a great idea at that time.

I created a new folder and thread for you to propose and start the process.
I d like to start a new series and iam trying to decide between three at the moment. Maybe someone can help me make a decision:) Its The Warded Man, Leviathan Wakes or A Crucible of Souls
Leviathan Wakes is some pretty awesome soft sci-fi - lots of fast paced action, great characters, and book six is coming out this year so there's lots of content. I just finished book four recently and am still enjoying the series. My wife has read The Warded Man series and insists it amazing. I'm actually thinking of starting it myself soon, so if there's some interest we could maybe get a buddy read going? My queue is pretty full for August so a slower pace would probably happen :)
A long time ago I read The Warded Manand I liked it - somehow it got lost and I did not continue the series though. I would probably re-read the first book and continue with the following ones! Now, August has already some series goals attached but I would like to consider it hopefully in September!
Jarek wrote: "Sean,Aristea so maybe lets try and set up a buddy read for the demon cycle starting september?"I'm game for that! I have the four books sitting on my shelf already, so it's a handy one for me to jump into.
I have read the first three of the demon cycle series. The first was awesome, the second was quite good too, but the third was a bit of a disappointment for me. Still, I do recommend the series. If you do start a buddy read for it I will jump in when you get to The Skull Throne. I am really really hoping that book will pick up the story and bring it back to the awesomeness of The Painted Man.
Awesome Eli! I wonder if we can try to push ourselves and even read two in September - yet, I have not made the list of my to read in September so I am completely in the dark - will I ever learn?!?

I've got the second book on my to-read list.
Alright then its settled. Come September 1st we start the demon cycle with the warded man. Sean, Aristea me and eli will join later on. Everyone interested is also welcme. Lets post a thread for this closer to September. Hopefully ill finish some of the series I already started by then:)
