Reading through
it's.....interesting so far. Still early and not sure exactly how I feel about it. But my read of
early reignited my need for 'true' paranormal books, and this one had a high rating on amazon, so figured I'd give it a go
Well, doing a book challenge so I am reading something a little less gory - ok a lot less gory. "Secrets" by Danielle Steel. On the side I am reading
. Not very far into it yet.

Are the rest of his novels as well done?
I am looking for a good gory Ghost/Psychic type story. Can anyone recommend something? Not looking for Vampires or other fake creatures if you know what I mean.

Most of them, yes. For horror novels, I would highly recommend
,
and
. (The Terror being a horror/history novel, well researched and just good fun!)

I've had my eye on that one for a while. I'd be curious to know what you think of it once you've read it.

Just finished a ghost/murder mystery/redemption story
by Duncan Ralston. It was excellent. Rated it 5 stars hereNow 40% in to
by L.J. Hayward and it's excellent, better than Salvage above.
Finishing soon The Scattered and the Dead (Book 1): Post Apocalyptic Fiction. If you like zombies-like-gore or more, make sure to grab this book. Pre and post-apocalyptic stories intertwined in one good and long read. Tim and L.T. are writers with a talent and a style.
Just finished Cover of Snow, a thriller by Jenny Milchman. I'm picky when it comes to this genre, but I was really impressed. Loved it! Not sure what to start next...thinking No Escape by Crystal Bourque.
I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone with a desire to read quality fantasy written by a talented author. My 5 star review of
by L.J. Hayward is here.
Yesterday I read
which had a pretty unique art and started
. I'm also continuing with The name of the wind and A memoir of a runaway.
I'm close to wrapping up the audio version of
, read by Stephen Weber. I've read IT twice in the past, but I'd heard good things about this audio edition and decided to check it out. Weber did an amazing job with it, and I have to say it's probably one of the best audio productions I've ever heard.I'm also 2/3 of the way through
and thoroughly enjoying it. This is my first McCammon novel. Definitely won't be my last.
I'm reading The Talented Mr. Ripley for my TBR challenge. It's been in my to read list for many years, so I'm happy to finally be reading it and I'm happy to report it's good so far.

I am so jealous that you're discovering Boy's Life for the first time! My all-time favorite read.

I agree! I have only read Swan Song before now and while reading Mine I'm wondering why I haven't devoured all his works yet! He's definitely heading to the top of my list.
I'm chugging my way through the Tokyo Ghoul manga. It's alright, nothing massively exciting but it's keeping me entertained so far.
What is everyone reading these days? I just finished an old 1970's horror trope,
Audrey Rose by Frank De Felitta. I'm now working on
The Beast of Brenton Woods by Jackson R. Thomas and
Under the Fang.

I'm currently reading [bookcover:Mr. Mercedes|18775247] MR. MERCEDES by King and starting my summer re-read of
THE MIDNIGHT TOUR by Richard Laymon (my favorite of the Beast House series).
I started The outsider (the stranger) by Camus. I'm almost done with it. In the middle it starts getting very interesting.I'm also continuing with The Key to Midnight by Dean Koontz and Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov (sporadically) and a couple of re-reads.
I'm trying to go through some old horror paperbacks I bought but never got around to reading - currently in the middle of
Blood Beast, which is actually better (and different) than I was expecting (I admit, I bought it for the cover).

I've read a few reviews that have said the writing is awful, but I thought it was fine. Maybe it was because I was padding it out, and filling in the blanks with the TV show happenings.
Either way, it's a great plot and I would recommend others try it.
I find Hannibal Lector really interesting.
