Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments The alternates:
Each number corresponds with the spot on the board.
For colors: The cover has to be at least 50%
For locations: As long as the book takes part at all in the given location .
For Shelves: Any book on the given shelf
For Publication Years: I'll be using how GR has it's publication date listed.
For Authors Names: The first, middle, or last name of the author is ok.
For Titles: Only the first word of the title. A, An, And, and The do not count.
So if the letter is B: The Best Day would be ok. Dear Betty would not be ok.

LOL, this is the first time that i know EVERYONE on the team.
I love you Paris, but I heard from the grapevine that you rolled terrible numbers:D

I like Second to None for a team name.
On my last team, i let whoever was up at midnight roll since I was rarely awake at the time. We can also rotate if you like.

waves @Jamie: Bingo really helped me clear my GB list. though I have 10 books left from GB Quarter 1

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Last round the rolls weren't as bad as round 1 but the dang dice hate me. I'm almost always the last one up since that's only 10 o'clock here.

I like Second to None for a team name too.

I'm Eastern time (NYC) so the rolls are 12:01am on say Thursday the 17th to start? Yeah it'll be 1 AM here in NY so y'all have fun :-)

2 Legit to Quit (Mc Hammer song)

message 14: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Oh my gosh...2 Legit to Quit would be awesome, but I also love 2 Fast 2 Furious...I'm not gonna lie, when they did the tribute to Paul Walker on the MTV Movie Awards this weekend I cried.

Wasn't the winning team last round named Second to None? Maybe we should try something different...although it is a winning name...

It's Bingo, where you have to pick a book from a specified shelf. You read the book, rate it and write a review before

This is what it looked like:

Shelf #1 ~ 3/11/13: 'Kick-ass Heroine'

Shelf #2 ~ 3/11/13: 'Dragons'

No, there are different shelves each week. One time it was shelf: DNF or Shelf: 5-star reads

Basically, it was a Bingo challenge using the listopia feature of Goodreads

Week 1, Roll 1: "6"
Heart of Stone (Gargoyles, #1) by Christine Warren
Book Choice:
Heart of Stone by Christine Warren (Alternate Choice: Title starts with "H")
Read: April 17
Rating & Review: 2-stars. This book was weak and disappointing. I have had people recommend The Other, a series by the same author, but I am not impressed with her plot, world or character building.

It featured a museum docent who was attacked in front of a gargoyle statute, which responded to her need for rescue. Kees explained he was guardian and He had been in a sort of stasis until he was needed. Somehow, her internal magic roused him and now he was flesh Again.

I had all kinds Of issues with this one
1) gargoyle flying around the city undetected
2) gargoyle fitting in her house...and her bed
3) gargoyle using ancient speech with her, but perfect English with everyone else
4) the writing was just slow paced and dialogue was boring.

I just did not enjoy anything about this story because both heroine and hero were kind of me. I don't see what's special about gargoyles either since they are grotesque and huge, they had wings to fly but no really cool features to his power. Kees could camouflage, so some magic, the rest was just brute strength.

I didn't like it so I am not sure I'll read the sequel.

Review: I didn't think I was going to like this book when I first started reading it. The general theme of the book reminds me of Mean Girls at Hogwarts. I thought it was going to be predictable but when it got the end I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely be reading the next one in the series!

Tied with Me (With Me in Seattle, #6) by Kristen Proby

Tied with Me by Kristen Proby
Book 6 in a series
Rating: 5 Stars
Finished: 4/17/14

I absolutely love the With Me in Seattle series. I was a little unsure about this book because Matt isn't my favorite of the Montgomery family and we barely got a glimpse of Nic in the last book. I really just didn't know what to expect. Well I was dumb, cause of course I should have just expecting awesomeness. Kristen Proby wouldn't let me down and she didn't.

Matt was leaps and bounds better than I figured he'd be. He's never been as loud as his brothers or as in your face as his sister. He's just always been more in the background, quite, but obviously a great guy. Nic had a lot more going on than I expected. I really liked how she stood up for herself. The drama between them was pretty easy to figure out, but I liked the way it all played out.

Of course, I loved the way we got to see bits and pieces of the other couples and who's the come in the final two books. I really look forward to reading the rest of the series, but I am not looking forward to the series being over.

Book:Rough Canvas (Nature of Desire #6)
Author: Joey W. Hill
Rating: 5 Stars
Finished: 4/18/14

I have had this on my TBR for months and it was picked for me last fall for GB and I still hadn't read it. It's part of a M/F series and a #6 so I guess that was part of it although it is very possible to read this without having read the rest of the series.

And I loved this book. Thomas is an artist who has returned home to his NC farm and family after his father dies and his younger brother is hurt. He had been successfully building a career as an artist and a relationship in NYC before he was called back home. His former lover and Master, Marcus, has come to find him in NC. Marcus finds him gaunt and suffering from an ulcer. But he won't leave his family until Marcus appeals to his artistic side and tempts him for a week in the Berkshires to rediscover his muse.

This is a really well written story that has just the right amount of angst, drama and emotion. There are some elements of BDSM but outside of a scene at a club it's fairly light. Thomas has an artist's soul and yet he's fully grounded by his family. Marcus has deep, dark secrets but he's devoted to Thomas (and needs him.) I couldn't put this down!
