I just went to a book signing for Richelle this past Saturday. I am finally all caught up on the books that I needed signed. She's so ridiculously awesome. Do you plan to move on to the Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1) by Richelle Mead series next?

I didn't think I liked Sydney enough to move on to Bloodlines. Is a better series or more of the same?
I also heard the loser of the lover triangle in this series is the hero in that one...is that true?

The Gladiator's Master by Fae Sutherland
Rating: 4 stars
Review: Caelius has inherited his uncle's ludus, essentially a gladiator training facility. His more egalitarian leanings would lead him to sell it but his political aspirations and a glimpse of the commanding Argon (Gaidres) compel him to rebuild it. Gaidres has been captured from Thrace, caught in a raid that killed his lover. He's bent on revenge against Caelius and his family but bides his time. Caelius and Gaidres are physically drawn to each other and Gaidres gives in deciding it's the best way for him to get close enough to plot his revenge. The story follows some familiar plotlines but there is enough that is different to keep the story readable. The authors did a great job incorporating some real history. The dialogue seemed a bit modern and ultimately Caelius really is a dreamer but the nice build of the relationship here made for an enjoyable book.

Enraptured (Eternal Guardians, #4) by Elisabeth Naughton
Book:
Enraptured by Elisabeth Naughton (Eternal Guardians, Book 4)
Read: June 4
Rating & Review: 4-stars.
Seriously, this series is so full of holes it could be swiss cheese...but something keeps me going on. I don't understand but I am being entertained or I wouldn't be thinking so hard about stuff.

Orpheus has been the unknown since book 1 and I just had to find out his story. In the last book, we saw him use the orb to save his little brother Gryphon, but that wizard stole Gryphon's body, trapping Gryphon's soul in the underworld.

Orpheus is so wrecked with guilt that he decides he will go there and rescue his brother. Of course the gods (Zeus, Hera, Hades, even Atlanta) have their own plans for the brothers. Zeus sends on of Hera's sirens, Skylar, to seduce, kill and get the orb from Orpheus. And what seemed like a game of seduction, turned into something more. In addition, Orpheus and Skylar experience deja vu, like they have danced to this tune before, but surely they couldn't have. Either way, they are inexplicably drawn to each other, but Skylar is sent to be an assassin. Can she really go through with her mission?

I like this series but these eternal guardians are no different from humans. They seem weak to me. They are unobservant, lacking in the basic preparation by finding out about their enemies and they are verbally caustic to their fated females.

(view spoiler)

With all that said, I will be starting audiobook 5 in a few minutes because I have to make sure Gryphon is alright. After all, being trapped and tortured by Hades every day for 3 months has to be terrible on his psyche. I want to see who saves him, though I suspect she has been on the run with Orpheus and Skylar this whole time (*Cough Maela).

Four Years Later (One Week Girlfriend Quartet, #4) by Monica Murphy by Monica Murphy
Rating: 4 Stars
Finished: 6/3/14

This series has been one of my favorites and has put Monica Murphy on my must read author list. I’ve loved following Drew and Fable on their journey and I loved just as much getting to see Owen find happiness. He was such a little punk in the early days of Drew and Fable’s story. I was never sure he was going to turn out right, but I should have known better. How could anyone ever disappoint Drew and Fable? Heck, they’re fictional characters and they kind of make me want to be a better person.

I really loved getting to see a side of Owen that we had never seen before. I loved seeing him grow into a responsible man, realizing that pot and drinking weren’t everything. It’s amazing what the love of a good woman can do for a man and we see that in this book when Owen meets Chelsea. She is so adorable and fantastic, but she needed Owen just as much as he needed her. While she encouraged him and made him want to be a better student and man, he made her want to open up more and be more than just the ridiculously smart girl.

In the end, Owen and Chelsea came really close to rivaling Drew and Fable as my favorite couple in the series, but then Drew and Fable had some really great moments in this book too. And the announcement in the epilogue just made it even better. I hope that someday down the road Monica Murphy revisits all of these couples and gives us a little glimpse at what life is like for them. Maybe it can be a book from Autumn’s POV…here’s hoping.

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments So I rolled a 4 tonight, which puts us on space 68. You can read book 68 in a series, book 6 in a series, book 8 in a series, or the alternative which is a book written by an author with a first, middle or last name that starts with T.

Or maybe I can get through all three and go for the trifecta...6, 8 and the alternate.

if team 4 rolls a "6" it would put them on 75, and they still need to "pass" 75.

Or do I have that wrong?

Review: The story picks up at the end of Mac and Sam's vacation and Mac has managed to get Sam to give up his rules. The serial killer is still on the loose in NYC and Houston. In this we get some resolution of Sam and Mac. (view spoiler) There is progress on the mystery but clearly that's not solved. And it feels like some of the secondary characters are going to get relationships next. Mac and Sam are still awesome together, love them! There wasn't quite the same level of battle between them but they're still great together and I can't wait for Book 3 (which apparently has been delayed.. argh).

This book may be a 4-star if Paul's constant rambling, while funny, got a little old/too much.
This book featured Paul Auster, an insurance agent, with a quirky family and even quirkier best friend. Sandy/Helena Handbasket was Paul's very best friend, and also a drag queen performer. On Paul's 31st birthday, Paul locks eyes with a sexy jock Vince Taylor and something inside him just clicks.

The remainder of the book was Paul trying to deny that he had it bad for Vince and chuckles due to antics from his supporting cast.

This story is nice and I chuckled quite a bit...but it also took me like 4-5 days to read this book as it was so wordy. I wanted to tell Paul to get out of his own head and man the hell up sometimes. I do think this book would be a really funny audiobook.
