See below. From our Book Social ladies.

Sorry off line for so much this week, busy and lots of overtime/work

Dear Sean:

Hello. We wanted to share how much we enjoy following the threads/posts/comments on A Good Thriller. We've said before but will again: What a Great Group! So dedicated.

Since we last spoke and emailed, we are in the midst of data collection and in the beginning stages of data analysis. After interviewing a number of online book club members who participate in the Mystery/Thriller genre, we created questions targeted at Mystery/Thriller readers. Sean, we would love your input. The questions are below listed.

Of course, to support you and A Good Thriller, we want to post more questions. It's hard coming up with new thread questions. Our hats off to you. We may post the Question #3 to see what the other members think.

Thanks again Sean for being such a great support to our research! A Good Thriller has such a devoted and loyal membership. Amazing job at creating and maintaining this type of environment. We've studied a great many clubs. A Good Thriller stands out. Please feel free to quote us!

Best regards,
Grace & Amanda

What are the biggest misconceptions about mystery/thriller readers?

What is being discussed and shared in your online mystery/thriller book club that contributes to the sense of community?

Several interviewees have described their participation in an online mystery and thriller book club as a bar/pub hangout with your friends. Do you agree with this? And, if so please describe your mental image of your online mystery/thriller book club’s hangout in terms of location, party decorations, food, drink, etc. (Feel free to have fun with this one.)

Just to mention, I will try to pop in when I can, but as expected lots of overtime at work.

Working 8 hours on Saturday and Sunday.

Monday 7.15 hours, then 4 hours overtime.

Today normal day, then 2 hours overtime, then to snooker league for 2 hours then home.

Tomorrow full day, overtime for two hours then tennis two hours, then home.

Thursday night, Friday might be free for evening, not sure yet.

Working all day Saturday and Sunday.

RBC, where I work has new premises built in Jersey, one of the largest in Jersey, and moving in in 3-4 weeks.

Four premises down to two.

Over 1, 600 computers, desk's chairs to move and fit, and crates, and staff move in every weekend soon.

Lorrea - WhatChaReadin'? (whatchatreadin) Hey Thriller Fans, today is the last day to sign up for BookPals if you are interested. Please sign up using this thread https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... and I will post Pals at the end of the day today(for me that will be about 11PM Eastern US Time)

HAPPY READING!!!

Lorrea - WhatChaReadin'? (whatchatreadin) OH NO!!! I have a reading injury. I thought I just had a little crick in my neck, but it didn't get better after a couple of days. So, today I went to the doctor and while I was waiting I was reading my Kindle and she said, that is probably how you got your injury. I can barely lift my arm to put my shirt on, I'm in so much pain. The doc gave me some muscle relaxers and an anti-inflammatory Hopefully, I'll be better, but not giving up the reading.

message 8777: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale *snorts* This is yet another reason to NOT use a Kindle.

message 8778: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 2434 comments I disagree, Amber. Whether it's my tablet or a book on my lap, my neck is in the same position. I'm looking down.

That is, unless I'm laying on the couch to read. :-)

message 8779: by Amber (last edited Nov 02, 2016 10:14AM) (new)

Amber Martingale A REAL book forces you to move around once in a while to exercise your arm and neck, thereby keeping it from freezing in place. When it freezes in place, that's what causes the pain Lorrea described.

Sorry about your injuries, Lorrea. Maybe your doctor wasn't a fan of ereaders...

You can get the same exercise while reading a traditional book or from a tablet/kindle e-reader. I even find it easier to read while I'm cooking, hands free verse having to hold a book to turn pages.

message 8782: by Diane Lynch (new)

Diane Lynch (dianedesmarrstlynch) | 306 comments It's all in the way e person reads. Doesn't matter what they are reading. Book, Kindle, Newspaper. Need proper reading posture. She be able to fit your first or an apple between your chin and chest. Staying in any one position for to long will eventually have negative effects Change things up some how.

message 8783: by Amber (last edited Nov 02, 2016 11:19AM) (new)

Amber Martingale I concede a point to Horn about how useful an e reader's hands free possibilities might be as an advantage when cooking. And I agree that it should be easier to clean if there are any splatters, especially if you're making a sauce... .

Diane: That's good advice.

Lorrea - WhatChaReadin'? (whatchatreadin) Thanks for the advice everyone. Right now the only place I have to read is my bed. It will be another few months before that changes. Hopefully I can find a better position.

Jean | 2387 comments Watching the Chicago Cubs World Series victory parade on TV. Holy cow! I wonder how many million people are in thos crowd! Watched most of all 7 games. Game 7 was intense! Cleveland - what a tough team! So much heart! But there was no way I couldn't root for the Cubs. 108 years since they won a championship. History! It's such a fun diversion from politics and all the troubling news in the world.

message 8789: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) It is intense!! I'm surprised we couldn't hear the screams from Chicago here in Washington State!!

message 8790: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale You can bet that Jim Butcher's probably gonna include reference to this year's World Series in his next Dresden Files novel, tentatively titled Peace Talks, especially given that his wizard PI/Winter Knight/Warden of Demonreach Island, Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden and Harry's older brother, Thomas Raith, are based in Chicago,
