I have been wondering where you were Brenda. I hope things are calming down for you. Glad to "see" you back.

Goodness, Brenda, that's a little more excitement than any of us would like. Sending calming thoughts your way
Melanie, Sue, and Perri, thanks for the well wishes. A few nights of restful sleep have helped. It feels good to catch up with everyone here.

Sounds like a lot to deal with, Brenda. Peace and quiet sounds like just what the doctor ordered. Hope you find some!

Sorry I've not been around much, spent a few days with my parents. It was a nice relaxing break.
The October PIFM threads have now been posted.
Hope you're all keeping well.

On my way to visit them. Janet. And I'll post my list too...if I have time before I gotta switch computers. If not, I'll do it when I get back online.

I know the feeling. I've had a tough week so far with my medical problems. I read a few pages and zonk out.
I have posted the sign up thread for October Book Pals. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...Sorry for the delay, back to school has had me busy.
Busy last two weeks.
Watching USA Open tennis, every night till 11.00 to 12.00 pm, up at 4.30 a.m to watch again, the night matches.
This weekend tennis and a great World title boxing fight.
Plus out for lunch as birthday tomorrow.

58 years old tomorrow !
Do not like getting older.
But want to retire...LOL
Guess I cannot have it both ways.
This year for our birthdays, my wife next week.
Having a new kitchen..... light silver gloss, contempory look.
Also having a new driveway, front garden and back garden done.
Get ready for the retirement.
House being painted next week, all indoors over the next 3-4 weeks.
We haven both worked hard this last two years, to clear our mortgage December 2015. This year saved up to do lots of main jobs before we retire, and also to make our life easier.

I just turned a year older than you. We are retiring on April 1st. I should say my husband is as I don't work. We go to Florida to work on the house we bought there to retire. Working on getting quotes on an inground swimming pool that will be inclosed so we can use it year long.

Happy Birthday!
Paula: Hope it's not in the local transmission of Zika area.
Happy belated birthday, Sean. What's retirement age in the UK? And what's voting age? And drinking age? (Had to get all the important ones in there!)
Retirement here in Jersey is different from the UK.
Reality and fact I should retire 66 years and 6 months.
(Goes on your birthdate)
Drinking and voting I think is 18 years old.
Don't drink or vote !

Cosmos wrote: "I never vote. Why bother? Nothing ever changes."You're too young to be so cynical, Cosmos! :-)
I vote because there are very few ways I have any influence in politics. Win or lose, I had my say.
I second that, Brenda. Women died for the right to vote. My girls feel very strongly about voting!
I'm not cynical. I'm a realist. They make all these big promises just to get elected, but they don't keep them. Not where I live anyway. I suppose I am rather jaded with the whole system, but the proof is in the pudding. I just hope to God that Trump doesn't get elected. Then we're in huge trouble.
None of the above! Yes! The amount of money spent on political campaigns in the US is obscene, and the average American knows very little about the candidates. It's a popularity contest, or perhaps a choice between two candidates one would rather not vote for at all..but if one votes for a third candidate, it feels like a default vote for the one you hate to elect. Still, I vote because as Brenda said, it lets me have my say. NBC did a story about selfies being banned in the voting booth. Did others see that? Can someone explain why that might be constued as fraud?
I like to vote more for my local officials as opposed to national ones. These are the people who are going to influence our leaders. And who will make an immediate impact on my community.
Just a sidetrack here: I don't like the banning of anything! It takes away our right to choose as citizens. Although I would like to 'ban' Donald Trump.
Make attendance at election polls mandatory like they do in Australia. Maybe not everyone will vote but they'll be there.I think they have 80% of the eligible voters casting votes since attendance is mandatory.
Or make it easier to cast an absentee ballot. That's how I vote.
