Mary | 452 comments Ah! Very clever,Sheila!
So much hidden innuendo in that statement,
that neither confirms or denies anything, thus we are none the wiser!! Intriguing,to say the least!!! Me thinks the lady doth say a lot while saying naught!!!

That's the first I've heard of it! "

Well, yeah, but I didn't want to make everyone else jealous!

Am delighted to be included in your invitation, but the question begs to be asked-when's the party??

Now that I let you all in with me, I think the party's started already, don't you?

message 2154: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments ...and apparently Sheila has done more exploring than I have. I was more interested in the books than I was in looking for doors.

message 2155: by Mary (new)

Mary | 452 comments Sheila certainly seems to have made herself at home!!
I'm presuming you accompanied her on this mission......yet,for some strange reason, you seem surprised at her recent discoveries!

message 2156: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments I was sitting by the fire with one of Pemberley's excellent books, and I disavow any knowledge of Sheila's actions.

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments Debbie, did you say 175, well then, I need to catch up on my 2016 challenge. I think I ended with 170 and The Courtship on my last post.

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments Woooh, While I was busy posting..., look at the trouble you guys have gotten into. Roaming about the estate? Unchaperoned, no escort and at all hours... goodness. And left me? Man... that hurt.

message 2159: by Mary (new)

Mary | 452 comments Debbie-let me see if I've got this right. You simply sat by the fire concentrating fiercely on a book while totally ignoring Sheila's absence for that amount of time?? And you expect us to believe that????

Jeanne-183? Wow!!! If you've followed the earlier posts, congrats,as you are now in possession of a set of keys to Pemberley!!

Sometimes a person has to get up and stretch their legs and I have read so much about these old manors having passageways my curiosity would not be calmed. There was this draft of air not coming from the windows yet it whispered across my ankles and I had to determine from whence it came. Can thou blame me?

message 2161: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments OMG!!! What to do? Where to go first? Who to see? WOW!!

I'd like to thank all my fellow explorers and readers that have assembled in this magnificent structure we call the library. To my... oh, wait... this isn't an Oscar.

Those last several...The Shack was so powerful for me I had to buy a copy for each of my adult children. I have not read 180, 181, 182 so will have to check them out.

message 2163: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments Oh, I see you are on a kick with an author you like/love. I think I read one of hers long ago but nothing recently...Lindsay Sands?

message 2164: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments And congratulations for your many steps forward...good work.

message 2165: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments His Enemy's Daughter is very angst filled and you are on the edge of your seat the whole time.

Lady Pirate is a hoot. She has the best crew ever, I laughed my head off. There were slips and misses in the story line but, I couldn't help but love these guys. When they dressed up... what a scream.

Fervant is also powerful in its own way.

The Shack: I bought dozens and gave them to all my friends. I have to re-read it every once in a while. I always start when he is leaving the old shack and suddenly feels warm air blowing. That is where I start. Powerful...man...powerful.

message 2166: by Mary (new)

Mary | 452 comments Sheila-you felt a draft and were compelled to find from whence it came???? Alone???? In semi darkness???? Dare I ask,cos I know she was there, where exactly was Jeanne??? Can anyone account for her movements???

message 2167: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments Thank you for the enlightening comments. I have to really resist the urge to put more on my pile. I have so many I want to read NOW....published and unpublished.

I had a recommendation for me today for one which has 77 chapters with one last one not yet posted: Mr. Darcy's Child Bride...can you imagine? The reader states it is her favorite.

Regina Jeffers just posted comments about the age at which you could marry or your parents could commit you to marriage in old England.

message 2168: by Mary (new)

Mary | 452 comments This may not be Oscar,Jeanne, but Sheila s d Debbie are sure giving award winning performances.......what actually happened on that fateful night?? What age ye covering up??

It is quite a large library two stories high with shelves extending towards the center and nooks and crannies where you can sit in comfort to read. I was not going to disturb her as her nose seemed glued to the page.

message 2170: by Mary (new)

Mary | 452 comments Jeanne was content to sit quietly and read while you explored a secret passageway??? And I guess that's Jeanne's story too,is it??

message 2171: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Always looking for intrigue, aren't you, Mary? And it was before the party started and Jeanne hadn't even reached the magic 175 number to get her own set of keys, so she wasn't here yet. Besides, what happens in the Pemberley Library STAYS in Pemberley Library. All must take an oath to that effect or be denied entry.

message 2172: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments As soon as I had entry I went to the window seat located at the apex and indeed had my nose in a book. It had defused lightning and lots of pillows and comfy cushions. I saw nothing, heard nothing and know nothing.

You are busy. It seems you will be busy for a while.

I did read Jeffers' comments on early marriage and resisted commenting. I was trying to avoid the kick-back comments about my being from KY. However, my mother married at age 15, if you can believe it. She looked 21 in their wedding pictures. It is hard to believe she was so young. In all fairness, in the 40's age 15 was a very mature person than what we have today.

I looked at my 15-year-old students and shook my head. No comparison.

Jeanne, with all the silliness associated with the Pemberley Library, I forgot to congratulate you on earning your own set of keys. BTW, no secret passages here, regardless of what trouble Sheila and Mary try to stir up. Just lots of cozy reading spots with lots and LOTS of books!

Sophia (sophiarose) | 1167 comments Mod
You gals are a scream. I love reading your antics as you rattle around Pemberley and it's library.

Way to go, Jeanne, on your latest batch that threw open the doors and let you race in. :)

message 2183: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments Thanks Debbie and Sophia. I intended to wear my roller-skates and glide in, but I found out there are more restrictions in the Pemberley Library. As I entered the doors, the footman confiscated my roller-skates, my noise maker, my balloons and that bag of confetti Mary gave me. Apparently no party noises are allowed here. Dang!!

message 2184: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments But giggles and whispers and raised eyebrows and those smirks of a smile are allowed....they do communicate enjoyment at times.

Wait...175 is the number to hit for entrance to the Pemberley library? I apparently missed that part of the discussion. Gotta get back to reading. I've got another 50 to go, but with Pemberley in my sights and so many intriguing books on my list, I can't exactly complain, haha!

message 2190: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments You can come in as my guest anytime, Eliza!

message 2191: by Mary (new)

Mary | 452 comments 'The Twilight Zone....!What happens in the P.Library stays there....!No confetti,drums.....a handsome footman.....sitting quietly in the corner with diffused lighting, nose stuck in s book......!'
Hilarious!!! What a delightful way to start the day with a smile on my face after reading such comments!!! Oh! I'm beginning to think that sleep is overrated in its usefulness !!

message 2192: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments Yawn!! Yes Mary, while you slept, we managed all manner of mischief. Dang that time difference. Good thing there is good lightning for those late night forays into the library.

message 2193: by Mary (new)

message 2199: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments Yes, I realize it has to be finished before posting it on GR but since it is so long readers may want to start reading it now as I was told the last chapter will be posted soon so the readers may not even get to the part before the last chapter is, indeed, posted.

message 2200: by Mary (new)

Mary | 452 comments Thanks for the link, ladies. Might check this one out at a later date. As is oft lamented,so many great books,so little time!
