Mr. Bennet's Library 101+ Books
167 A January for Jane: A Pride and Prejudice Variation Novella This centers around only Jane. Some of the original charecters are mentioned in passing but still a good story
I followed this series for some time. Does this novella finally end it? Jane had been through the ringer. This series gave us a Bingley that was only hinted at in P&P. It was a good twist. Jane's experience with the ton and London society was very difficult for her. She was not her sister Elizabeth and did not have her stamina of intellect or wit and therefore, took things differently. Bless her heart, I really felt for her.
I finished reading Love Lessons by Julie Coop late last night. Good story. Modern take-off of P&P. Darcy is an actor, but he is rich, has Pemberley and distant connections to royalty. He has been named Sexiest Man Alive in one rag. He is in America, having broken into Hollywood circles. He gets the lead, John Thornton, in North & South. He is not pleased to learn Caroline Bingley plays Margaret Hale.Elizabeth Bennet is all heart but barely scraping by supporting her parents and paying for the home she purchased at age 19. Mom is basically dying. Mr. Bennet lost his job (as Mr. Hale did) when he questioned a doctrine or widely held belief. The Bennets are a devoted couple. Jane has moved away and changed her name to Jayne Seaton. She always has an excuse not to visit.
When Darcy must learn to play a piece on the piano so as to look realistic in the movie Georgiana, in rehab, sends him to a well-respected piano teacher for lessons. It is love at first sight when he meets Elizabeth.
But Darcy whose only close attachment is his sister and who surrounds himself with an "army" for privacy and security has a lot to learn about love.
167 Particular IntentionsLoved this book. It was one that even when at work i was thinking of this book.

That is a glowing compliment when a book sticks with you when you're not reading it.

Hurricane Matthew is waving bye-bye. We're experiencing the back end of the storm now, lighter winds and rain than at its peak a few hours ago. No damage or loss of power or water danger where I am. Won't venture out until tomorrow, because certainly some roads will be flooded or blocked by downed trees. Coulda been a whole lot worse. Thanks to everyone who was concerned and reached out. All is well!

I looked at that and it seemed interesting, but it also seemed like a lot of money for a fairly short book. Do you think it's worth the $6, Lenora?
Thank goodness all in your household are truly well and safe,Debbie. If you don't need to venture out tomorrow, then may I suggest you stay indoors, snuggle up on the couch with a good book.....what better way to while away a Sunday afternoon!

I actually have a music rehearsal tomorrow at noon, but it's only about 2 miles from my house so I'm not worried about getting there safely! I've been snuggled in with a couple of good books for the past couple of days, and will continue through tonight!

Sounds utterly romantic! Gotta read this one! Thank you for mentioning it,as I know we're not allowed to review her work.

Glad to know ye're all safe Debbie. Been following it on Sky News. Those poor people in Haiti. There's no luck in that country.

Lots of 3 and 3.5 stars in there. I just finished reading The Courtship of Edward Gardiner, and I totally agree with the 5 stars there. Glad that was your most recent, Jeanne! Ending (for now) on a high note!

I guess to me it was but I don't usually pay much for my books but every once in a while I splurge.
Sheila, it was your and Mary's review that made me want to read The Courtship...excellent book. I agree completely. I can't wait until the launch and see how other readers respond.
170 The Rainbow Promise: After Rainy DaysI really liked this book. It took on the things that upper level of society took for granted.

I appreciated the social conscience in this one, but I felt like the rest of the book was a let-down. Rainy Days was SO good and I didn't think this matched it in quality.
Debbie I agree about the first book was better.170 Misdirected: An Annie Thesbon Novel this is not austenist book but an excellent murder mystery.
171 Destinations a sequel to the one above and is excellent also
The author is J Michal Weihrauch
Both of these books are re read
I have Rainy Days and The Rainbow Promise on my wish-list. I have circled around them for some time. I have not made up my mind yet. I am still on the fence. The threat of the second book not matching up to the first has me concerned.

172 To Capture Mr. Darcy: A Pride and Prejudice Variation NovelI liked this. I liked the fact that miss Jane had a stronger since of herself that caro did not fool her. I especially liked Darcy's insight into Mr Bennet.

How did I not have that one on my list? Sounds good!
Debbie wrote: "It's REALLY good, Eliza. Get it on that list pronto!"Well, now you've gone and done it. I can't resist two back-to-back recommendations! In looking at it, I'm pretty sure I resisted before because it's $9.99 and not on KU.

Does someone want to loan it to one of you who wants it? If you bought it you can loan it for 14 days one time.
Sheila wrote: "Does someone want to loan it to one of you who wants it? If you bought it you can loan it for 14 days one time."I will if they send me their email address. Matter of fact i will loan any book that i own if someone would like it
Oh! I'd forgotten about lending. It seems like every time I've thought about it, the book inevitably is not eligible. My email is (redacted). Thank you so much! I'll read it next. :-)
I'm so sorry, but I don't own it. I read it online just before it was published and pulled off the site. Otherwise, I would've been happy to loan it to you, Eliza.
I have a lot of books I would be glad to lend but some of those I have read are from kindle Unlimited. But ask me and if I have it to lend I will do so.

57. Second Opinions: A Lizzy and Dr. Darcy Story - 3 Stars ☆☆☆
58. The Courtship of Edward Gardiner: A Pride and Prejudice Prequel - 4 Stars ☆☆☆☆
The Courtship of Edward Gardiner is a lovely prequel to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, in where we get to see how Elizabeth’s only example of a happy marriage meet and fall in love.
Prequels to canon are not abundant in the JAFF world. However, I have always adored the characters of Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner and looked forward to experiencing their beginning written by an author I enjoy. Nicole Clarkston did a wonderful job and even surprised me. I assumed that I would not see or hear about my other favourite original characters, but they were there… as children! How fun.
If you have not read this author, please do. She also writes variations of my other great love, Elizabeth Gaskell’s North and South. Bonus points for also having the BEST first name in the world :)
