Mr. Bennet's Library 101+ Books
Sounds very interesting Sheila. I'm presuming that as you've read it,the assault details are not too specific or graphic,if you know what I mean.

I read that one recently, too, and really, really liked it. 4.5 stars from me.
Mary wrote: "Sounds very interesting Sheila. You know Elizabeth does not go down without a fight...and all work to protect her name!!!!
It is unpublished and was written back in 2004 & 2005 and I don't find it listed on GR to post a review. I would rate it the same as Eliza 4.5 stars
A facial cut, some bruising and a few broken ribs I can deal with! Thank you for those precise details,Sheila. Have saved it and hope to read it soon.
Another unpublished vignette of only about 20 pages, set in the early days of WWII and follows canon fairly closely with a Hunsford type proposal. But then Darcy and Bingley go off to war and as men are evacuated from the beaches at Dunkirk, Elizabeth and Jane wait to see if one or the other or both will return. When He Comes Back by bOOgima http://meryton.com/aha/index.php?show...

I learned today that Juliecoop took her stories down from AHA...just in case someone tries to connect with the link I left for Love Lessons. I now wonder if she is going to publish. I hope so.
Oh I hope so, JulieCoop is the writer of some of my favourite JAFF, the type of thing you can enjoy reading again and again. I love her geeky Darcys, particularly from 'The Best Light' and 'Pounds'.
176 when he comes back I liked this even if it was a modern retelling. The modern stories aren't my cup of tea.

Oh, good, I will post a review and what about A New Beginning by MaxineB. I don't have the link. It is a longer story; one in which Mr. Darcy's loneliness is painful to read of as he reaches out to help so many people in trouble.

Was this what you wanted, Sheila? I adore her work, but I think "Fair Stands the Wind" is her best.

How Kind of you to give me that link. Yes, I did read and post a review for Fair Stands the Wind and am just half way through A New Beginning, which has me with that hollow you get in your chest when you empathize with someone suffering. Darcy - so noble but so lonely!

Congrats Debbie, that such a milestone!Just calculated my tally so far and I have 83 P&P books read so far. Hoping to make it to Mr. Bennet's library before the end of the year.
Whether you make it or not make every book a pleasure not a job to reach a goal. We don't care about the numbers although we will cheer you on. All of us realize that some have very busy lives and other interests.
Dung wrote: "Just calculated my tally so far and I have 83 P&P books read so far. Hoping to make it to Mr. Bennet's library before the end of the year."Oh, excellent, Dung! Two-and-a-half months for 17 more books. You got this!
... And even if you don't, Sheila is absolutely right. Enjoy the books you read and share your enthusiasm with the rest of us. We'll cheer for you all the way.
Thanks Ladies, my overall book count is 127! I added more variety in my reading this year. Just wished there was more time for reading & chatting about books.
Dear me!!! I've heard of all now!!! An election for more reading time!!!!! Bring it on. It will certainly get my No.1!
177 Secrets KeptLoved this book. Even tho it doesn't go by cannon, the charectors are still strongly like the original.

I'm confused. Did you get MaxineB's permission?
Debbie,I'm sure with more than 200 books under your belt that you must now own a teeny, tiny bit of the great library in Pemberley....perhaps a square inch/ a few centimetres now belongs to you???
Suzan wrote: "I'm confused. Did you get MaxineB's permission?"There is no disclaimer disallowing, so is allowed.
"I need to sum up new guidelines for y'all from private discourse with AHA - no need to contact author for each story each time you want to review.
"...anything prior to July 1st is really the author's responsibility to have the entire listing taken down should they not want the reviews. After July 1st, anyone who does not want their story reviewed at Goodreads is supposed to post a request at the beginning of the story. As long as readers/reviewers pay attention to who would prefer not to be on Goodreads, then they're fine."
"If the author does not clearly state preference at the beginning of the story, there is certainly nothing to moderate, and offsite reviews thus would not break any rule."
THE ONUS IS ON THE AUTHOR TO SPELL OUT RESERVATIONS ABOUT OFF-SITE REVIEWS."

Don't I wish!! Although I'm not certain, but I thought 175 was when we get a set of keys to the door, so I believe I have a bit of company here. And, of course, I'm happy to bring friends in with me.. including you, Mary!
Didn't I read somewhere that there is one of those secret entrances to the library at Pemberley. Now to which bedroom does the passageway connect?...no keys needed...but if it is only connected to the Master's bedroom...well, Elizabeth you lucky girl. Two treasures at your hands.
Debbie,do you mean to say that you've had keys to Pemberley all this time??? That's the first I've heard of it!
Am delighted to be included in your invitation, but the question begs to be asked-when's the party??
Sheila,a secret passageway???? Leading from the Master's chamber to the library???
Sounds to me like you've been on a recognisance mission already!!!!
Dare I ask who accompanied you on such a dangerous mission??? Was it successful???

It is a little over 100 pages long.
It begins in a dire manner with an assault upon Elizabeth. By coincidence Bingley finds her in sad shape on the London streets and as her relatives have left town takes to her Darcy's townhouse where Georgiana is in residence as he dare not take her to his own house knowing his sister, Caroline, would create an uproar and endanger E's life and reputation even further. Part of the story's premise is the care Elizabeth insists be taken to protect the children of the man's responsible for her injuries. The story ends very well and revenge is gained with the greatest of forethought and planning.
