That's such a cool library! Definitely needs some scatter cushions and potted plants as well to help deaden the echoes.

While I'm here, I'm totally in awe of the totals that Debbie and Sheila in particular have racked up. An extra level is definitely needed for such superstars, Sophia!

And to all of you thinking about reading Pemberley: Mr. Darcy's Dragon, don't hesitate, it's a wonderful read. It's the first volume of three (as is canon P&P) and is following canon pretty closely, but with added dragons! OK, I may be a little prejudiced in favour of it as I'm a huge fan of Anne McCaffrey's Pern novels and I was one of Maria Grace's betas in addition but I do think it's a really good variation.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments My daughter loves and has read all of Anne McCaffrey's books. I too can recommend Pemberley: Mr. Darcy's Dragon...enjoyed it but just hate waiting for sequels.

message 2303: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments Sheila, I don't like waiting for sequels either. I plan to read and enjoy all the reviews of my GR friends; however, I think I just might wait for the next book. I'd been reading the WIP chapters online and really enjoyed them. I had pre-ordered Dragon so I have in in my TBR pile. Waiting might be best at this point.

message 2304: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments I didn't really pay attention to the fact that it is the first of 3 and would probably have waited. It is a good book but I don't have the patience especially when I will read so many more before it is released that the details will blur in my mind. Then I ponder if I want to reread the first one?

message 2305: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments Yeah, I was sort of thinking the same thing.

message 2306: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments You know, I think that would be the case if it was a standard P&P variation (don't know about you, but many of them blend into mush in my brain after only a week or so, even when they're really good), but the paranormal aspects of this are so unique I'm thinking I'll be able to remember them. I loved that there wasn't really a cliffhanger ending.

message 2307: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments I was thinking the same thing that b/c this is paranormal that I might remember it better, especially in that it is a dragon not a werewolf or vampire, of which I have read a few lately.

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Oh, my! I just finished reading an unpublished juliecoop story, Pounds. I've had it loaded on my kindle for months but just kept putting off reading it because it's a long one. I'm so sorry that it's been pulled from the JAFF site where it was originally posted (A Happy Assembly, I believe) and she won't allow it to be listed as an official "book" on GR. It's a really lovely modern P&P that's way off canon yet with some echoes of the original, especially when Lizzy and Darcy meet. Lizzy is, of all things, an auto mechanic in a teeny-tiny podunk town in California where Darcy's Jag breaks down, leaving him stranded there until his car is fixed. The story's title is the same as the nickname for the car repair shop, LB's, which are the initials both for Lizzy Bennet and her father, Larry Bennet. While Lizzy has no sisters in this incarnation, Jane and Georgiana are her two best friends who actually go on dates with Darcy before he figures out that he's attracted to Lizzy. The story, as it progresses, addresses the serious issue of mental illness. Great story! Wish it was a published book!

Oh that does sound good. Maybe someday we'll see it as a published story.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments Is there anyway you can transfer it to a pdf document and send it or in any way share it? I love her works and was really sorry to hear she took all her stories down.

I just typed in Pounds by Juliecoop and got Nothing Wanting and am going to copy it to my word documents. Anyone wanting a copy can enter this link - but be quick before she takes that down. http://www.dwiggie.com/derby/old_2009...

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments 215. Pounds by Juliecoop (no longer posted online) - 5 stars

I'm so sorry that it's been pulled from the JAFF site where it was originally posted (A Happy Assembly, I believe) and the author won't allow it to be listed as an official "book" on GR. 221. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy: Engaged at Pemberley - 2.5 stars

222. Nothing Wanting by Juliecoop - 5 stars.
This one is still up and running (for now, at least): http://www.dwiggie.com/derby/old_2009...

The conversation between Elizabeth and Colonel Fitzwilliam at Rosings, instead of alerting her that Darcy separated her sister Jane and Bingley, educates her about the true nature of Mr. Wickham. Col. Fitzwilliam also lets Darcy know that she dislikes him, which makes him pause and reflect rather than diving into a poorly-worded proposal. These revelations give both Elizabeth and Darcy a sleepless night, leading both outside to think, and they encounter each other in the moonlight....

It's another fantastic Juliecoop story, and I urge you to read it (if you haven't already) while it's still posted. As with Pounds, I assume she does not allow this to be listed as a GR book.

message 2322: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 277 comments Now this might be a silly question but if an author like Juliecoop, is as popular as she seems to be with a lot of members on GR, why will she not allowed her stories to be published? Wouldn't you think she'd like to have her stories read?
I don't understand this.

message 2323: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Get in line, Teresa! I sure don't understand, either. But it's her prerogative as the author, so we have to respect her choice.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments I just finished reading Mr. Darcy’s Child Bride https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11051418...
By: Shaelenina
78 chapters and she does say she plans to publish. I was captivated but there are a lot of side stories going on so we will see what happens as she edits it.

message 2325: by Ceri (new)

Ceri | 224 comments I think that some people just don't want all the hassle of publishing and promoting their books. Also, I am guessing some authors on fan fiction sites might not be up for the more harsh reviews that a paid for reader might give. I don't know what JulieCoop's reasons are but I feel a little sorry for all the readers who are missing out on the chance to read her stories, because I have found the ones I've read to be so enjoyable.

message 2326: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments I have read a few of hers and would have loved to have read all of them. Maybe some day they will show up somewhere.
I did read Tempt Me and Love Lessons and wrote myself a little synopsis but don't have any other noted.

I seem to be following Debbie's lead a lot nowadays. I, too, just finished reading Nothing Wanting and had tears in my eyes at the end. A bit of angst the wedding day and the immediate weeks afterwards. Lady C. was so cruel to Anne and then ODC!
