message 263: by Geri (last edited Aug 08, 2016 09:10AM) (new)

Geri | 63 comments I'm not sure I'll manage, but I'd like to try. I'll challenge myself with 10 countries.

Update: I have actually managed. I'm disappointed that there's not much diversity though. I feel like I half-a*sed the challenge. Half of the authors are from English speaking countries, the other half are also from English speaking countries (save for two) and just happen to be born elsewhere .

France - Имение в планината by Max Du Veuzit
USA - Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan
UK - Persuasion by Jane Austen
Australia - Willing Captive by Belle Aurora
Canada - The Deal by Elle Kennedy
Pakistan - I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai

Willemijn (willemijn_z) | 202 comments For those of you who are reading books set in different countries for this challenge, I would like to recommend this book.

Never Fall Down - Patricia McCormick

Everyone needs to read this. I'm actually shocked by how little we know about Cambodia's fairly recent history. It's a very powerful and heartbreaking true story about a boy who survived in the time of the Khmer Rouge, when a quarter of all Cambodian people lost their lives.

I didn't even know that was an option. Cassandra, maybe the challenge description that's in the first message can be updated to reflect this?

Read books written by authors from as many different countries as you can. The authors can have either been born there or lived there.

Thanks!

Officially, this challenge is about authors from as many different countries as possible. But there's always people who bend the rules for their own challenges, so I thought I'd mention this book. Personally, I'm sticking to the country where the author was born, which is why this book doesn't count for my own Around The World challenge.

The City of Bones is set in the UK and the author is from Iran. You could use something different for USA and clain that as from Iran.
