Parker Buenos noches!

Parker I like to talk like a 50 year old on pottermore and get on people for typing in caps in the common room. XD

Kevin Natasha wrote: "You know, I've never even heard of this "Series of Unfortunate Events". What is this series? (yes, I probably live under rock, but still - I wanna know.)"

There was a movie with Jim Carey and 3 kids and was trying to kill them off to get the insurance/inheritance money.

Natasha @Avalon
LOL I think I could tell it was about unfortunate events, and thanks for the actual description xD

They sound very strange... Sorry I'm replying to this kind of late but I had to go somewhere... lol

Actualmente, viernes significa "Friday." Jueves significa "Thursday".

Sorry, I am a nitpick.

message 2261: by [deleted user] (new)

Really? Viernes means Friday? Ermergersh. Yeah definitely failing. Thanks Matthew.

message 2262: by [deleted user] (new)

So I see everyone seems to be taking Spanish... Hmm.. And you all seem to be good at it..Hmmm. And I'm in my first year...And I suck at it...Hmmm

Hmmmm...

Me gusta mas leer libros y escribir cuentos! En mi tiempo libre me gusta usar la computadora para pasar tiempo con amigos. :D

Parker Oh, and I had a sneaking suspicion viernes wasn't Thursday, but I was too lazy to check my notes. *sheepish*

message 2267: by Parker (last edited Jan 24, 2014 05:03AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Parker Es martes, lunes, miercoles, jueves, viernes, sabado, y domingo, verdad?

message 2268: by [deleted user] (new)

Whoa there what the heck did you just write? I think I should know all of it but sadly I do not. Um, can you translate because my head almost exploded when reading it...

message 2269: by Parker (last edited Jan 24, 2014 05:19AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Parker I really like to read books and write stories! In my free time I use the computer in order to pass time with my friends. I'm very shy. XD

And then I said

It's monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday, saturday, and sunday, correct?

message 2270: by [deleted user] (new)

WOW how can you write all that? I only know the basics and the alphabet and numbers 1-100 and asking questions/giving answers and conjugating verbs like ser tener estar. And I know objects and other random things but I do not know how to speak in sentences like that. You're taking Spanish 1? I take Spanish 1 ..

message 2271: by Parker (new) - rated it 5 stars

Parker Yes, I am. I only know a couple of sentences as well, but I can make do with them.

message 2272: by [deleted user] (new)

Awesome :D Speaking of which, I gotta get to school and take my Spanicioso final D: Wish me luck :(

message 2273: by Natasha (new) - added it

Natasha Dria wrote: Me gusta mas leer libros y escribir cuentos! En mi tiempo libre me gusta usar la computadora para pasar tiempo con amigos. :D"

Alright, I give up. I recognized -most- of that... Rough translation:
I like reading and writing books! In my library(?), I like using the computer for (pasar tiempo) with my friends. :D

Lol! The words I didn't recognize: Cuentos, tiempo, and paras. So the actual translation is probably different...

message 2274: by Natasha (new) - added it

Natasha Good luck, Avalon!! Try your hardest! I'm sure you'll do alright. :)

message 2275: by Natasha (new) - added it

Natasha I just learned some conjugation this past week, actually... Only with the ending "ar", though. Like, yo canto, tu cantas, usted canta, ustedes cantas, nosotros cantamos, etc... Derived from the word "cantar," which means "to sing." Lol

I know a few questions/answers, such as "Como estas/muy bien, gracias, y tu?" and "Como se llama/Me llamo Natasha, y tu?" xD

message 2276: by Natasha (new) - added it

Natasha And I didn't realize you posted the translation farther down... >.<

message 2277: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha thanks Natasha just came home from school, the test was pretty easy :)

message 2278: by Natasha (new) - added it

Natasha Yayyy! Glad ya did well. :)

message 2279: by [deleted user] (new)

H99, you're probably in some smart elite school and stuff. It's only January how can you complete 75% of it? I've completed about 60-65% of it.. And you're in eight grade or ninth grade?

message 2280: by Natasha (new) - added it

Natasha I've been taking Spanish for about 5 weeks, total, and class is only once a week. It's mostly self-study, so a lot of it is written skill, rather than oral. However, it does help that I have a natural knack for languages... my teacher (a woman from Mexico) says I'm really good at it. :3 My mom tried to take the class with me (it's a class for the homeschoolers/parents in our area), but she was all like, "I'm so not good at this... I'm not doing it anymore." Lol

message 2281: by [deleted user] (new)

@Natasha yep, thanks :) Hopefully I get past my usual 75 and actually make a 85 or 90 (which would be a miracle).

message 2282: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow Natasha, you're homeschooled? That's awesome, I feel like homeschooled people have more intelligence because when they learn, they're usually by themselves and they're not in a rowdy environment with disruptions every minute (like my school -_-). That's cool Natasha ! And you've been taking Spanish for 5 weeks and you know more than me, so awesome.

message 2283: by [deleted user] (new)

@H99 Wow public school and you're like this smart. I always imagined you to go to this smart school xDD Well I go to a public school too and ohhh that's kinda like what I did with Algebra in middle school. Like in NY, high schoolers take a end of the year exams called Regents. In my middle school they offered me to take my Algebra Regents so that when I go to high school I start with Geometry. And yeah that's where I am right now- Geometry. Passed my Algebra Regents :D Well it was close to failing but it's a passing grade so yeah. Still passed.

message 2284: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, I took Algebra, taking Geometry, then gotta take Algebra 2 and then Trig. My teachers in my public school are great too, they care about the students, not about how much damn money they get. My English teacher is very philosophical and suuuuper smart. You're really on roll here H99. You're taking every thing in middle school that by the time you're in high school you're gonna complete all your classes. You're most likely going to graduate early in high school. Smarty pants xD My mom was like you. She always tells me "why did I give birth to an idiot like you when I was so smart your age?" Haha xDD

message 2285: by [deleted user] (new)

It's just the students in my school don't take the teachers for granted and disrupt the class frequently which stresses me and I can't learn that well with a bunch of bumbling babbling baboons (HP reference) interrupting during classes. Like I said before, I live in NYC, the people are CRAYZAY.

Natasha Avalon wrote: "It's just the students in my school don't take the teachers for granted and disrupt the class frequently which stresses me and I can't learn that well with a bunch of bumbling babbling baboons"

They "don't take them for granted"? You mean they do take them for granted? Lol

Bumbling, babbling babboons... hahaha! Was that Professor McGonagall that said that? I recognize the quote, but for some reason I'm not sure who said it - yup! Time to reread it, now!! (As if I need an excuse)

message 2287: by Natasha (last edited Jan 24, 2014 02:44PM) (new) - added it

Natasha just because I'm homeschooled doesn't mean I'm super smart! Lol. Probably my only natural talents are science and languages (which includes English)... I'm fair to good at Algebra (or half my Algebra class, which I take at a private school because my mom refuses to even attempt teaching it to me, is just that stupid). I like history, but not really enough to want to read it... My favorite subject is probably literature, seconded by biology. Or, maybe the other way around... they're pretty close.

My subjects this year: Algebra II, Marine Biology, American History, American Literature, Texas Drivers' Ed, Creative Writing, Spanish, and Music. I'm 16 and a junior (not because I'm smart, but because I started school when I was 4, so was in K when I was 5, and my birthday is late... I'm graduating 2015, when I'm 17... my birthday's in November)

message 2288: by Natasha (new) - added it

Natasha My teacher is great... She's the best mom in the world, and she also knows I'm responsible, and pretty much says, "Here's your books, here's your schedule, now go do it." Even when I get behind (I'm a huge procrastinator >.<), she knows I'll get it done eventually, so she basically just lets me be lol

message 2289: by [deleted user] (new)

Yep that's what I meant Natasha, thanks :) This is the fourth time someone has corrected me on here... I don't what to say about myself. Also yep McGonagall said that, I love her character xD
And wow seriously though THAT many subjects? I'm surrounded by intelligent people. You're amazing, no lie. Maybe I can become smarter like that :D I've always wanted to take Creative Writing. The only thing I'm proud to say I'm in is my Debate Team. But I've been slacking so idk if I should even be proud to say that...

message 2290: by [deleted user] (new)

OMG imagine if my mom is my teacher! My mom loves literature, science and health and she's very smart. She has dressed as Morgan le Fay for Halloween 5 times straight xDD But my mom is a doctor. But I bet she'd be a really good teacher ! You're so lucky to not go to school and just have school at home. It's awesome. Pretty sure you're mom is as awesome as you make her out to be.

message 2291: by cindy (new) - rated it 5 stars

cindy Ugh. My school is so annoying. Everyone there is crazy smart and super focused on academics, so it's superrrr competitive. (Also, we're really Asian so that might have to with it. LOL. I feel like a fail-Asian sometimes.)

And omg. Is anyone here a junior? Who's taking the SAT tomorrow??????? I'm so nervous holy crap. And it's worse because the average SAT score at my school is one of the highest in the state (top 5), which is already hella competitive, so I have so much to live up to. The people at my school won't be fine with anything below a freaking 2300. (ok maybe a slight exaggeration but whatever. I'm still nervous as fuck). lakjg;lskjal;sdjfa (ok I needed a place to rant and let off steam and since you guys are talking about academics this was the perfect place heh sorry)

Parker H99 wrote: "Dria wrote: "Soy muy reservado. XD"

Reservada. You're female, correct?"

Whoops. I was tired. I don't know how to say embarrassed in Spanish- only that I shouldn't accidentally use the word for pregnant. XD

message 2293: by Parker (new) - rated it 5 stars

Parker Ugh, I HATE algebra! No me gusta la clase de matematica. Que asco!

message 2294: by Parker (new) - rated it 5 stars

Parker Hey, Cecerose, could you keep the language to a minimum? I'm in kind of a PG zone here- or I'm supposed to be.

message 2295: by cindy (new) - rated it 5 stars

cindy LOL sorry profanity tends to slip into my words when I get nervous / excited / (actually most emotions um). I keep forgetting that some people don't like swearing

message 2296: by [deleted user] (new)

OMG Cecerose ! Do you go to some smart school? That would be awesome. I actually wish the students in my school would be focused on academics as much as the students in your school are. I'm still a freshman so I'm not taking SAT. Do the students in your school want to go to Harvard or something? They're crazy about grades! But I suppose that's a good thing. Well good luck on your SAT!! Hope you beat those over achievers on your school and get more than a 2300!

message 2297: by [deleted user] (new)

Asterisks are the key when it comes to cussing. If people write f*ck, then all of a sudden the word isn't a cuss anymore even though it means exactly what it means without the asterisk.

message 2298: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah Dria I learned about false cognates! Pregnant is embarazada right? It sounds like embarrassed but it's just a false cognate xDD

message 2299: by cindy (new) - rated it 5 stars

cindy Trust me, you do NOT want to go to my school. (It's a public school, not a private school btw so it's not really like elite or anything) The people here are so focused on academics that I feel that they forget to actually LIVE like a teenage life. I feel like I've been cheated out of a typical teenager life bc I'm constantly studying and tbh I'm not really the academic type. It annoys the cr*p out of me (censored bc some ppl dont like it i guess). Like I'm not dumb and I'm taking a fair amount of AP classes, but the people are sometimes so focused on academics to the point of ridiculousness, and I've seen people get so, sO stressed, to the point of depression, and its really not fun (myself included). It sucks. Lol one of my friends is taking 5 AP tests this year and my friend's friend is taking 7, which is crazy, plus it costs like $700.

HAHA I was exaggerating about the 2300. That's the ideal mostly but I think a majority (of the people I know) would be ok with a high 2100 - 2200. Not everyone though. My step-brother got a high 2200 score and he's retaking it to get a 2300+ score. I'm just like, heh 2200 is totally good enough for me!!!

message 2300: by cindy (last edited Jan 24, 2014 04:16PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

cindy The sad thing is at my school, people forget that grades aren't everything, and that colleges won't accept you purely based on your GPA and SAT/ACT score (I mean, they're part of it, but they're not the only things that matter). But that doesn't stop me from me nervous about the SAT tomorrow. Sigh. I'm just going to watch youtube videos to lessen my stress or something and to stop myself from cramming.
