Kurt I am currently reading Magician: Apprentice by Raymond E. Feist. I remember seeing this book on the shelves when it first came out in 1982, but for some inexplicable reason, I never picked it up. Then, 1984 rolled by and I became wickedly seduced by the Dragonlance series and never looked back. Fast forward to 2018, and many fantasy novels later, I was finally reminded of this series, so I treated myself by buying them all at once. So far, I can say, I like it. It reminds me more of a YA (before YA was even considered YA back then), with some coming-of-age young lads seeking a place in their world. I really believe I would've enjoyed it more when I was 11 or 12 back in good old '82, but I still think this, so far, is a very gratifying read! I can't wait to see what happens!!!

carol. | 2616 comments Sounds like fun, Kurt. I don't think I ever read it; can't think why I didn't pick it up either.

I'm reading a fun little UF, Strange Practice, about a doctor who treats supernatural patients.

R.A. White (rawhite) | 288 comments I ended up not reading my last book or the couple I chose after, but I settled into The Flaw in All Magic, which I am enjoying and have almost finished. I haven't read 'Magician: Apprentice' either, although I've looked at it a couple times. Maybe I'll try it.

Scott | 165 comments I recently finished Dolores Claiborne and The Manitou.

Now, I'm about half way through Sacré Bleu.

Scott | 165 comments I recently read Sacré Bleu, Abarat, and The Haunting of Hill House.

I think I'm going to read Insomnia now.

Marion Hill (kammbia1) I'm currently reading The Ivory and the Horn by Charles de Lint. I've been a de Lint reader for over 25 years and had not read his short story collections set in Newford. Good stories.

Scott | 165 comments I finished Elevation and The Troop.

Now I'm reading House of Leaves. It's been a little difficult to figure out the writing style at the beginning.

Donna Royston | 64 comments I just finished re-reading Lord Valentine's Castle. I read it back in the 80s, remembered enjoying it, but had little memory of the story's particulars.
Really good the second time around!

R.A. White (rawhite) | 288 comments I've read a few books since the last time I posted, but the only really remarkable one was Oathbringer. I love this series so much. It was really hard to get into anything else after finishing Oathbringer because everything else felt flat. Or was just really bad, lol. Most of what I read I pick up on free lists, and then I weed through them. I've found some good stuff that way, but most of it I end up passing on. Anyway, I recommend the Stormlight Chronicles all the time.

Scott | 165 comments I've been trying to keep up with the posts but haven't posted myself in awhile. I have read House of Leaves, Man in the Empty Suit, The Hunting Party, Rose Madder, Monster Hunter Siege The Monkey's Paw, and The Screaming Skull. Now I'm reading The Institute.

Richard Derus (expendablemudge) | 11 comments I'v just reviewed the debut fantasy novel, romantasy-lite really, from Orbit Books. Sorcery and Small Magics Sorcery and Small Magics (The Wildersongs Trilogy, #1) by Maiga Doocy by Maiga Doocy got 4 bemused stars from me here:

Richard Derus (expendablemudge) | 11 comments A very slight...mismatch between tone and setting took a bit of the shine off this read, though it's still memorable and very very good. The Hymn to Dionysus The Hymn to Dionysus by Natasha Pulley by my dote, Natasha Pulley, gets 4.5 enthusiastic stars:

Richard Derus (expendablemudge) | 11 comments It's a beautiful September, climate change be thanked for the reprieve, so I'm starting a really apt read: The Jaguar Mask The Jaguar Mask by Michael J. DeLuca by Michael J. DeLuca. I started this last year and, well...November...so it's taken me a minute to get back to it.
