Ok, I was going to read Fairest for task 30.3 but I keep hearing how much better Ella Enchanted is, so I'm going to ditch Fairest and start on Ella Enchanted tonight. I also just started The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, which is really looking good so far1

I finished The Goose Girl last night and absolutely loved it - a five star book for me. I'd wanted to move on to the next book in the series, Enna Burning, but I have to wait for it on ILL. While I wait, I'm going to read Graceling, which looks amazing, as well.

Beth - I hope you enjoy Ella Enchanted! It's one of my favorites.

Ella Enchanted is great! It's such a wonderful retelling, one of my favorites. The Absolutely True Diary of Part-Time Indian is on the opposite of the YA book spectrum but it's also a great read. I hope you enjoy both.

So far I love The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. I just started it this afternoon and I'm already on page 101. I've also heard so many good things about Ella Enchanted that I'm sure I'll love that one too. I'm getting that one tonight so I'm sure I'll be reading both of these at the same time.

I was going to read Wicked The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West as well, but I think I may switch to The Goose Girl. It seems like a book everyone has been enjoying. I may also switch to Ella Enchanted...

Natalee and Linda - I can't say anything about Wicked, as I've never read it, but I highly recommend both The Goose Girl and Ella Enchanted. I think both books are excellent, as if you couldn't tell already. : )

I'm a bit confused. Several people here have mentioned Wicked. Would that be considered a YA book? I work at a bookstore and I generally go by how books are marketed and then by where they are in our store. I haven't seen anywhere that this would considered YA. Just a question.

I am currently reading Percy Jackson and the Olympians book 3: The Battle for the Labyrinth. I love it! The series is great! Can't put it down!

Wicked The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West is categorized as Teen in my library. That is what we've been going by.

I have that tendency, too, but libraries are a whole different beast. I've been really surprised by how mine classifies certain books.

I used to work at a bookstore. It took a year, but the lack of an employee discount (and moving very close to a NYPL branch) has made the library my new best friend.

As for Wicked, my bookstore classifies it as adult. But I could see it being a teen book.

I'm reading The Tale of Despereaux and I'm loving it too. It's such a cute story. My niece read it as a classroom read when she was in elementary school and she kept telling me to read it. Well like 5 years later I'm reading it and I will push it onto my brother and make him read it to his kids.

Well I decided to put Wicked to the side for now. It's not that I don't like it, it's just difficult to get through. It's not a book I am excited to find time for. Plus, my daughter is reading Speak for school and I feel it's important for me to read it as well. So, now I am reading that and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

I'm currently reading Anne of Green Gables. Just a few chapters in and I'm already kicking myself for stubbornly not reading this when I was a kid. For some reason I thought I wouldn't like it!

Thanks! That aspect is reminding me of Pollyana, actually, a book I loved as a girl. I also adored the Haley Mills movie version.
