I bought a bunch of YA books this weekend at a library booksale... they include Ramona Quimby, Age 8, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, Superfudge, Shabanu Daughter of the Wind, Haveli, and The Blue Sword. So I'm gonna get on that.

I recently finished The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, and I loved it. I chose it because it touched lots of shelves in the Shelf Challenge in another group, and it got so many good ratings on GR, so I thought I'd try it. I'd never heard of the author. It was very funny, and the illustrations are hysterical too.

Sherman Alexie has written lots of other books, so I'd like to try some more of his.

Right now, I'm sort of reading 6 books, but only 1 could be considered YA - The Sword Thief, which is the third book in the 39 Clues series. As soon as I make progress on the rest of my books, I've got to start Sorcery and Cecelia, or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot: Being the Correspondence of Two Young Ladies of Quality Regarding Various Magical Scandals in London and the Country.

I'm currently reading The Grey King by Susan Cooper which won a Newbury. Nothing like a bit of YA fantasy to brighten up the final countdown til the end of the semester aka hell week!

April I bet we'll read Silver on the Tree around the same time. Once finals are over I'll have PLENTY of time to read stuff I've been meaning to read, and that's the only book I haven't read in the series.

Tahleen, I keep interspersing the Dark is Rising books with other ones to keep my reading fresh, so I could forsee that happening!

I am reading two books right now - one YA (Wicked Lovely) and one not (The Thirteenth Tale). I never accomplish reading two books at the same time. One always wins out while the other has to sit and wait. We'll see which one I stick with.

I just finished A Great and Terrible Beauty and I loved, loved, loved it! I thought it was amazing. Later (a horror movie currently awaits me), I'm going to start Abarat, Book 1 Abarat by Clive Barker. I've never read anything by him, but I have heard of him (ummm, Hellraiser, anyone?) and from what I've gathered he seems to mainly write horror. But Abarat sounded too good to pass up. Besides, I'm currently getting into Fantasy YA, so this will work (I hope).

Abarat was definitely interesting. I hope you have one with his paintings--they're pretty fantastic.

Actually, I do. I found out that it was illustrated literally like two minutes ago. The paintings do look great so far (I haven't looked at many yet, as to not spoil myself).

For once, despite reading three books at once, I'm not reading YA! How can this be? The Spring Challenge is to blame, it's forcing me to read adult books! (I'm sure it's good for me.)

Haha, yeah, I actually did. When I picked it up I was like "Ummm, why does the 'T' look like an 'A'?" And then I turned it upside down and thought "Clever, if a little pointless", lol.

I've read #2 and #4 in the series already, so I'm reading them muddled, but they are still exciting and quite good.

I'm currently listening to Uglies, but I'm not digging how dumb and young the narrator makes the boy Paris sound, so I may revert to the book format soon. I'm almost done reading The Truth About Forever, and I'm also listening to The Westing Game on audio (though I've had to pause for a few days since my son has been in the car with me and insists on the Beatles). Next I think I, too, am moving on to I Capture the Castle...

Jen B, how do you like The Truth About Forever? I've read a few of Sarah Dessen's books and loved them, but this is one of the ones I haven't read. It's on my shelf and I really can't wait to read it.

I'm really liking it. It's very much in line with her other books in that it focuses on one main "issue" (this character's father has died) and the aftermath. There's also quite a bit about catering, since the main character spends her summer working for a catering company...I'm a foodie, so I'm enjoying that part. Definitely worth reading!

Ashley, how are you liking the House of Night series? I think they are fun reads! I love the mix of fantasy (vamps) & real cherokee culture. I actually looked up some of the cherokee references and learned something new!

Since I am going to participate in a challenge (for the first time!! I am excited!) I am putting The Thirteenth Tale down and reading Wicked Lovely. I started it but only read the first few pages. I hear its a good book so I hope to read a lot of it over the weekend.

I just finished The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. I'm working on Lisey's Story by Stephen King now, so currently I'm not reading a YA. Maybe when I finish that.

And Natalee...Wicked Lovely was really good. I also liked the sequel Ink Exchange.

Heather, I *think* I read Faerie Wars, if it's the book I'm thinking of. It was pretty intense but I liked it. A more adult faerie story--plus faerie is spelled really cool.

I've heard much about the House of Night series, but I'm unsure wheather to purchase the first book or not. The reviews I've read are mixed, so I keep changing my mind.

I wouldn't consider them deep and intellectual with an underlying message or anything. But they are fun quick reads. I love them. They are, what I call, "in-betweens".... fun books to read when you need something a little lighter.

I'd give it a shot, Sam. I really liked the first one, and it's not too too expensive, like seven bucks. Unless you find it at a used bookstore or something.

I'm going to restart Uglies since the audiobook killed the image of the characters.. they sounded like whiney 12 year olds. I just started Wondrous Strange last night.

I'm reading a deliciously tongue in cheek fantasy book called Hero, Second Class by Mitchell Bonds. It's a great YA for adults because it's full of sarcasm and funny references. Check it out.

A recent guilty pleasure read was I'd Tell You I Love You But Then I'd Have To Kill You and its sequel Cross My Heart and Hope To Spy by Ally Carter, the third one comes out in June and I can't wait! All about a girl in a secret spy school, very cute characters, loved the writing.
